To me the whole point of the Pain Arc is to see a village that used to fear and shun Naruto merely for the crime of being born be brought to such a breaking point that they're forced to realize that that boy on the swing set has become their fiercest warrior and guardian who holds no grudges for the misery of his childhood. I perfectly inverts the Itachi arc where Sauske--having only known a need for revenge his whole life--misunderstands the whole point of his brother's sacrifice and turns that hatred on the village Itachi did it all to protect. Elite story telling.

Also worth noting whenever we see it (forgoin he doesn’t address it) recapping the throw was what he was practicing at Mt Myobuky or however it’s spelled. Pops seemed to think he was controlling nature and it’s one of his very few wrong guesses. Maybe a reminder Tsunade banned him from using the jutsu because of the damage to his body
