We found out about the red headed Liz back in season 1- the old guy Barzard that fought Meliodas (well, first King) at the Vaizel festival mentioned her to Elizabeth because he mistook her for Liz- he was a knight from the now destroyed Danafall (that’s been mentioned multiple times that Meliodas destroyed- the Ten Commandments visited the spot and felt Meli’s residual power, and it was the spot that Dreyfus and Hendrickson visited in Hendrickson’s flashback story where they met Fraudrin- and Hendrickson told them that Fraudrin killed the love of Meliodas’s life, which is why the sins were framed when Zaratras was killed)- and Elizabeth even told Diane that she would keep quiet about having feelings for Meliodas because he already had someone else (remembering Barzard telling her about Liz being his girlfriend, though dead now). So Meliodas is back in time at least 16 years to his life in Danafall as the chief Holy Knight there, when his girlfriend Liz is still alive

Diane’s flashback is from 16 years ago- which I think is where her mind currently is, around the time she first met Meliodas (I think she’s been losing her memories in order, starting with the most recent, so in her mind, it may as well be 16 years ago right after she thought Matrona had just died- Matrona is the alias she used at the Vaizel fighting festival as well, so now we know where the name came from). This is after the 500 or so years she spent with King- but he made her forget their time together- she is getting some hazy recollections though, like what she told Dolores about having children to immortalize yourself is similar to what King told her about why humans get married and have kids (since they have such short lives compared to theirs). Matrona made reference to the clothes Diane is wearing as being something a human or a fairy would wear- you might not remember, but King makes his own clothes, he learned how to from watching humans (we learned from his past with Helbram)- so King made the clothes she’s wearing even though she doesn’t remember him. Another hazy recollection she had was when King told her he would always love her- and she mistakenly assumed that maybe it was Meliodas who said that to her (thus starting her crush on him). And now we know her official sin- she was framed by those knights, accused of poisoning Matrona out of envy and killing hundreds of knights from Liones (which is where her sentence was passed down, but it was taken away or whatever when Meliodas stepped in to make her part of the Seven Deadly Sins). We’ve seen that Ban’s sin was a false accusation, and now Diane was a frame-up- King’s sin was legitimate, but he did have amnesia- and Meliodas destroyed Danafall, though we don’t yet know all of the circumstances (maybe we’re about to find out through this trial)
