There are two versions. The regular cut is 78 minutes long. The extended cut is the same 78 but also has an extra 10 minutes of sidebars of me talking about acting, actors, and multiple personalities.

PS. I don't get viewing numbers on Google Drive files the way I do with Vimeo so lemme know which one you watched. That'll help me figure out future edits.

I watched the extended cut because I like your funny words magic man. I wondered how my friend had never seen Perfect Blue but they explained it demonizes DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder fka Split-Personality) and it hadn't dawned on me that a majority of the problems created are implied to be because someone has a split personality whether its the murderer or the pop idol and her hallucinations. It really made me view it in the same light as Requiem for a Dream and its pro war on drugs propaganda. ntw there's a live action movie adaptation of this and it sucks ass proving once again that people should stop adapting things.

There's a lot of interpretations of this film. You've given some I haven't heard before here though I'm sure some read it this way before. I hear the movie was loosely adapted from a book that was way less ambiguous, but the ambiguity is what makes people like it. I first watched this when I was a kid so I sure as hell didn't understand it then xD Some of the themes seem more relevant now than when it was made (e.g. persona vs the real you was only really a thing for actors back then but with online identities vs real life it's more of a common issue now).

I always watch extended cuts just cause the reason I watch reactions is to hear how people connect to art and how they interpret it This movie is Satoshi Kon's directorial debut after the producer for the animation studio picked him after seeing his animation and screenwriting work for the JoJo OVAs. You've seen one other of his works, Tokyo Godfathers, which he wrote and directed

This comment hella late but i just watched this movie today and afterwards thought damn wonder how you'd react to it and to my pleasant surprise you already have done and as usual your insight is always super interesting about how DID really is and just your interpretations on the movie. This movie is something else im defo going to be thinking about this one for a hot min ahaha

Are these reactions no longer available? By the way, Kon cited David Lynch as a big influence.

Yeah must have been purged. I'll try to remember to add it to Google Drive once I pay for 2 TB tomorrow
