They are still just kids; Beast Boy just happens to fall under the more immature category. Don't count him out just yet, Beast Boy has some of the best character development and probably ends up suffering the most when it's all said and done.

I hear you that he's a good but he's performing a grown up job so I tend to judge him by that standard. People could die if he fails, so he should be held to a high standard

Oh, I'm not denying that. I was merely saying, don't just think of Beast Boy as the one-dimensional funny dude. Because while he starts off as a stereotypical funny character, he's going to go through a lot of hard times and be forever changed by them. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think he's going be your new Justice League Flash punching bag character.
