A couple quick things about this series: 1. This does take place in the same universe as Fate, but was written in 1998 so Nasu hadn’t come up with the concept of servants yet. This was his first published series, so a lot of the lore and themes (and love of philosophy) were carried over into his later works on Fate. 2. I would recommend reading the episode titles and paying attention to the dates, because if you hadn’t already caught on this is a mystery series, so any clue is a good clue 3. The Japanese title for this series is Kara no Kyoukai, translating to Boundary of Emptiness. It fits a lot better considering all the talk about vessels, souls and stuff. I don’t know why they translated it to Garden of Sinners in English 4. Fun fact, the red haired woman, Touko, is the woman who transferred Emiya’s soul into one of her dolls at the end of the Fate/Stay Night Heaven’s Feel movies. She debuted here, but is basically in every series Nasu has written so fans get excited whenever they see her

The animation was done by Ufotable who basically animates all the Nasuverse works like Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero and Garden of Sinners (GOS). GOS was made between 2007 and 2013 so they actually released the Fate/Zero series in 2011 inbetween GOS episodes. They’re also animating Demon Slayer at the moment (at the cost of delaying more Fate adaptations lmao)

Of Nasu’s three series, Garden of Sinners, Tsukihime and Fate, Fate is actually considered the tamest in terms of subject matter and horror elements. So Sakura and the crest worms were actually a step down in terms of distrubingness lol

Oh yeah I completely forgot there are post credits for each episode so just make sure to watch to the end
