They do use names a lot of times rather than pronouns, so it’s really up to the translator if they want to use a pronoun if it would sound better in English

Maomao showed an indication of recognizing Shisui as being or at least looking like someone else she had met in the ghost story episode- she didn’t finish her sentence in this episode either saying “could Shisui be…” just like she did then

Maomao is shown with cat animations, and I think it’s a stylistic metaphor, not necessarily from her perspective, because we’ve seen tons of things in both seasons when she wasn’t around- she’s the main protagonist, but it hasn’t really felt like a “first person” perspective story overall, at least not since the first few episodes of season 1. Lakan has said to be like a fox, so his adoptive son (who it was said in passing in season 1 is his nephew, so there is blood relation) could also be shown with such characteristics

This is a bit confusing, so hopefully I can explain it clearly enough- we first heard the story about Taihou when the empress dowager (the current emperor’s mother) brought it up in her ruminations in episode 9- she was a lady in waiting to a concubine that the emperor at the time (the previous pedo emperor) seduced instead- she got pregnant, but the doctor in the rear palace at the time was blamed and expelled- and took the baby that was a daughter with him when he left. Timeline wise, this happened before Anshi was seduced, so this daughter would be older than the current emperor- it’s not too much of a spoiler to clarify that Taihou was the first ever “victim” of the previous emperor. The concubine that Taihou served was later given to Shishou (she was never “touched” by the emperor being too old for him) and she gave birth to Loulan, who is now missing. The doctor involved has nothing to do with Luomen (who is Lakan’s uncle, so Maomao’s great uncle) except that after that incident, doctors in the rear palace were then also required to be eunuchs- Luomen agreed to become a eunuch to go into the rear palace and assist with the current emperor’s birth via surgery (essentially like a C section) because Anshi was so young and couldn’t deliver naturally

that kid seems like an adopted brother of Maomao. I wonder if those two know each others or will run into each others.
