New Patreon Page System Announcement (Patreon)

Hey friends and fans, after all these years, it’s time for another update to how the Patreon Page will work for the various Tiers going forward.

This is something that I’ve been mulling over for a few months already, and after speaking with a friend who also runs a Patreon, something stuck with me from our discussion: “The Polls are a nice form of interaction, but there might be some people that don’t really care about that kind of thing. When people become Patrons and pledge money, they’re doing it for the content. They want early access to more chapters, to read stories not yet put on the free sites, and the content and exclusivity should be reflected in the Tiers.”

That made a lot of sense to me, but I’ve ALWAYS wanted to make my Patreon affordable for as many readers as possible. As most of you know, I held off on increasing the pledge for the Support Soldier Tier for over a year, even when Patreon themselves were suggesting that I increase it to $3/month. I compromised and increased it to $2/month instead, wanting to keep the pledge affordable. However, looking at the Tiers and how they’ve been for so many years, I feel like I HAVE been doing a bit of a disservice to my upper Tier Patrons. They get their unique Polls every time their Tier Reward comes around…but they have no exclusivity of content. Every Patron gets access to ALL of the writing, regardless of Tier…that has been my way of saying ‘thank you’ to every single person that has made this dream of mine possible. But that’s not really fair to my Captains, Sergeants, and Generals who pledge so much each month.

Therefore, starting on July 1st, all NEW stories: both new story pilot chapters and new Danmachi premises getting their first chapters, will be 1 chapter ahead for Captains, Sergeants, Generals, and the three Secretaries of Defense. Once the second chapter of any new story is posted for the upper Tiers, then the first chapter will become available for the Support Officers and the Support Soldiers. And the posting will continue like that, maintaining that extra chapter of Early Access for the Captains, Sergeants, Generals, and Secretaries.

ALL CURRENTLY POSTED STORIES WILL REMAIN GRANDFATHERED INTO THE OLD SYSTEM!!!

None of my Support Soldiers or Support Officers is losing access to ANYTHING they have right now! I want to be VERY clear about that! If you can read the newest chapters of a story right now, it will stay that way no matter what Tier you’re in! This new system will specifically only affect new stories and premises posted from July 1st and on. 

As for how this new exclusive/advanced Early Access will work in terms of Tier Rewards, I’ve come up with a simple set of rules:

Rule 1: Only the Tier Rewards of the Captains’ Update Poll, Sergeants’ Update Poll, Generals’ Update Poll, and the Tier Rewards of the Secretaries of Defense can be used to get a new chapter for any story posted on July 1st, 2026 or later, until such time as ALL current stories grandfathered into the old system are complete.

Rule 2: The Random Monthly Drawing winner cannot choose an update for any story that’s not grandfathered into the old system.

Rule 3: The only exception to the previous rules is during Patron Appreciation Months. The Patron Appreciation Month Update Polls for Soldiers and Officers will be allowed to choose the newest stories for updates as part of our twice a year celebration.

I’ve considered this change for our group for a very long time, my friends. To be honest, I’ve been putting it off since February because I love writing for all of you…but the need to give some kind of exclusive content to the upper Tier Patrons has been eating away at me for all these months. I can’t in good conscience continue to expect the Captains, Sergeants, and Generals to keep supporting me like they have and not have SOMETHING that is for them and their amazing support. This advanced Early Access is the best ‘exclusive content’ that I could think of while not drastically changing our group so much that it became unfamiliar to everyone.

This change will hopefully not upset anyone, but I understand if it does. We’re breaking away, however slightly, from how we’ve always done things, and I know that there are some that simply don’t enjoy changes to things they’re familiar with. It’s my hope that this small change will give more reward and thanks to our Captains, Sergeants, Generals, and Secretaries going forward.

This announcement is also confirmation that the first chapter of a brand-new story WILL be posted on July 1st to mark the beginning of the new system! There should even be a SECOND new story in July or potentially August as well! So, look forward to them and the new Series that will join our cozy little reading nook’s library!

Once again, I can’t thank all of you enough. Without everyone here, regardless of Tier, this dream of writing for everyone would’ve always remained out of reach. I’m grateful beyond what words can express that each and every one of you thinks my writing is worth your pledge each month. I’ll continue to update the stories you all enjoy and pour my heart and soul into my writing to give you the best reading that I can possibly create going forward.
