Chapter 35 – Krillin versus Goku
The crowd watched on as Goku and Krillin faced each other down, hoping they weren’t missing the opening moves of the fight again, like they had with Jackie Chun and Caulifla’s match.
“I’m going full tilt, so get ready, ok?!” Goku grinned at Krillin, keeping an eye on his best friend’s stance for any subtle changes that would give him a hint about the next move his buddy would make.
“Yup! Consider yourself warned, Goku!” Krillin said right back with a smile, fully focused on Goku.
Bulma cupped her hands around her mouth as she called out to both of them. “Do your best, you two!”
Kale was just as loud from beside Bulma. “Give it your all!”
The match began in a blur. Krillin shot forward with a skipping side kick aimed at Goku’s chest. But Goku, having anticipated the move, managed to knock the kick aside and then block the follow up jab aimed at his face. He threw a kick towards Krillin’s left leg, only for his friend to hop over it and throw his own roundhouse kick straight at Goku’s head. Goku leaned back and managed a block, lessening the force he took from the kick. Krillin landed with his left foot and Goku was on him in a blur, a chop slamming into the side of Krillin’s face and forcing him to skip back two steps.
“Huh?” Krillin blinked as he didn’t see Goku in front of him. “There!” He jerked back just as Goku’s foot passed through the air where his head had been.
“Hup!” Goku kept up a barrage of kicks, forcing Krillin backwards as his friend dodged or parried every kick.
Krillin broke the barrage by throwing his hands forward, knocking Goku’s leg aside and then aiming right for his face.
Goku jerked to the side, Krillin’s hand nearly grazing his cheek. “Whoa!” The two hopped away from one another, reassessing the other closely with bright grins on their faces.
“You’re as fast as ever! Coming at me right from my blind spot!” Krillin praised his best friend with a smirk.
“You’re fast too! Dodging my attacks and countering like that!” Goku was absolutely thrilled to be having such a fun fight.
The crowd was all blinking as they tried to keep up with the fight in front of them.
“D-Did you guys see any of that?” One man questioned.
“I saw orange blurs when they hit each other…” A dogman said, clearly shocked.
Another man ran his hand through his hair. “Th-They call this a kid’s match?”
The announcer was clearly the most hyped by the match, so far. “CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, FOLKS?! Krillin and Goku are nothing but blurs to our eyes! Who knows what exchanges we’ve missed from their incredible speed!”
Krillin shifted to his right just slightly, and he noticed when Goku’s eyes shot towards his right side. “Feint”! He yelled suddenly, just as he shot forward and to the left, and then he slammed his right elbow into the side of Goku’s face. A powerful kick hit the off balance Goku, sending him backwards. “Got you!” Krillin threw a strong punch at the reeling Goku, aiming to drive his buddy into the ring floor.
“Hah!” Goku kicked off the ground and shot high into the air to dodge Krillin’s punch.
“Get back here!” Krillin leapt upwards strongly, chasing Goku through the air.
Everyone watching had to crane their necks to keep track of the two as they soared into the sky.
In the air, Krillin saw Goku watching him as he reached the apex of his jump. But the former monk also noticed the position of the sun and grinned as an idea came to him. He tilted his head as he got closer and closer to Goku until the shine made the Saiyan wince slightly.
“Did you polish your head?!” Goku questioned loud as he closed one eye.
Krillin ignored the question as he came even with Goku and flipped, bringing his foot down on Goku’s hastily raised guard, kicking him straight down towards the ground. “Did I do it?” He looked down seeing Goku hurtling headlong towards the ring. It wouldn’t be a ring out, but even Goku wouldn’t walk away from hitting the ground that hard, from this high up.
Goku saw the ring coming up fast and spun once, landing on his feet, he grunted as his legs bent to absorb the impact, his feet leaving cracks in the stone tiles. “Didn’t expect that…” He said to himself, not having considered that Krillin’s bald head could reflect the sunlight like that.
“Whoa! Contestant Krillin seems to have miscalculated! He tried to slam Contestant Goku into the ground…but Goku managed to land safely! Thus making the still descending Krillin an easy target! Will his doom be sealed by a formidable super attack?!” The announcer yelled into his microphone to the cheers of the crowd.
“Sorry Krillin! I’m gonna win!” Goku called out as he watched Krillin fall towards the ground.
Krillin smirked as he kept his eyes on Goku. “Oh yeah?! I’m not going down that easy!”
Goku kicked off the ground, shattering the tile beneath his foot, and zoomed into the air, his right leg extended for a devastating flying kick. “Hyah!”
“Take this!” Krillin held his palm out and a small tallow ball of ki appeared in a fraction of a second. The small ball shot straight at Goku, giving the Saiyan almost no time to shift from offense to defense, and exploded on contact.
“What the hell?!” Bulma cried out, seeing the near instant ki blast.
Kale wasn’t any better, her eyes wide. “He didn’t charge up or anything!”
Goku was shrouded in a thin cloud of smoke as he fell back towards the ring. At the last moment, he flipped one and landed lightly on his feet. “Ow!” He gingerly touched his arms that he’d used to block as best as he could at the very last instant. “What was that?!”
Krillin landed lightly upon the ring across from Goku with a grin. “I wasn’t just going sightseeing on my martial arts journey, you know?!”
“You’ve gotten way better!” Goku complimented, the stinging pain already out of his mind as he smiled at Krillin.
“Surprised?” Krillin grinned right back.
Goku took up his stance again. “I haven’t had such a fun fight since the last tournament! Let’s keep going!”
Krillin let out a playful huff. “You’re not…scared?” He teased his best friend. “My heart’s beating outta my chest over here.”
“Aw, come on. It’s not like I’m gonna kill ya!” Goku smirked right back.
“I told you NOT to hold back!” Krillin declared strongly.
Jackie Chun, taking a moment from his recovery, watched silently from the doorway of the competitor’s hall. ‘So… Goku is about to show his true strength, eh? Let us see, let us see…’
Goku’s expression hardened, a focused glare aimed at Krillin. He blurred forward in a charge while chanting. “Ka…Me…Ha…Me…” He saw Krillin raise his palm again and he leapt upwards just as Krillin unleashed the fast-moving ki blast. The yellow ball went sailing through empty air, vanishing over the heads of the far side of the audience as its energy was used up. “HA!!!” Goku didn’t throw his hands forward, towards Krillin, but instead threw them behind him, the blue-white ki blast rocketed him forward for the brief instant that Goku let it exist.
“HUH?!” Krillin had never even considered using a brief blast of Kamehameha like that. His second of shock cost him as Gioku’s fist crashed into his jaw, whipping his head to one side as his feet left the ground and he went flying.
“Hup!” Goku kicked off the ground and flipped through the air rapidly, bringing his knee hammering down into the airborne Krillin’s chest, driving him into the tiles of the ring.
Krillin hacked and coughed as the wind had been partially knocked out of him. “Ack… Koff…!”
The audience could only gape in shock at the overwhelming display of force. Even the announcer was silent, his sunglasses falling down his nose slightly.
“Oh…my…” Jackie Chun said lowly, not having expected such a gap to open up between Goku and Krillin so suddenly.
‘Th-That kid…has the aura of a warrior now…!’ Tien thought in shock, observing the way Goku stood over Krillin after putting down his fellow disciple so decisively.
“C-Contest Krillin is down!” The announcer finally got his wits about him after a second. “One! Two! Three!”
Bam
Everyone flinched as the blast went off. Goku went reeling backwards in a cloud of smoke from getting hit pointblank with another of Krillin’s small ki blasts. The former monk was still lying on the floor, not having moved to give away his attack at all. The blast had simply formed in his upturned palm and been launched in an instant, way too fast for Goku to raise his guard.
Krillin hopped back onto his feet and put his right hand over his stomach, while his left hand gingerly touched his lightly bruised cheek. “Owww!”
“Astounding! Contestant Krillin strikes back without moving and gets back on his feet!” The announcer called out with excitement.
“WOOOO!!!” The crowd cheered for the sudden reversal.
Goku was still on his feet, his orange gi a little roughed up from the unexpected blast, but he had a grin on his face. “Now that’s more like it!”
Krillin took up his stance swiftly. “That was an interesting attack…” He complimented Goku for the inventive use of a short burst of a Kamehameha. “Now you have some fun! Counter Attack!” He charged at Goku in a blur, ready to start another exchange.
Goku watched the charge and anticipated Krillin’s movement. He brought his knee upwards to crash into Krillin’s stomach…only for Krillin to stop short just out of his reach. Krillin’s hands opened and two of the small ki blasts were released instantly. Goku managed to smack one high into the air, but the second hit with a blast that made him stumble backwards a step. Krillin tried to capitalize on the hit and the obscuring smoke, but was kicked in the stomach as he stepped forward. Hopping backward while holding his stomach, Krillin grimaced as Goku waved his arms and cleared the smoke, his face a little dirty from the brief blast.
“Ugh…” Krillin ground his teeth at the pain coming from his stomach. He’d taken multiple blows there and the damage was really starting to add up. ‘He’s not just strong! If I fight him head-on, I’ve got no chance of winning.’
“You’ve got this, Goku!” Kale yelled out, a bright smile on her face. There was also the warmth inside from seeing just how strong her Mate had gotten making her a little…excited.
“Keep going you two!” Bulma was also a little riled up from the fight. Not to mention that her intelligent mind was taking apart Krillin’s ‘instant ki blast’ technique and quickly understanding how he was doing it.
Jackie Chun felt proud, and a little amazed, at how far both Krillin and Goku had come in just three years. ‘I can hardly believe it… Krillin’s strength and technique have both clearly reached truly superhuman levels. But somehow, Goku has advanced even further…’
Krillin clenched his fists and stared Goku down. ‘All right! There’s only one path to victory!’ He inhaled deeply and then called out loudly. “Goku! This time, it’s for real!” he brought his cupped hands together before him before bringing them to his side. “Ka…Me…Ha…Me…” The blue-white orb of ki formed between his hands and rapidly grew brighter.
“Wait, Krillin!” Goku held up his right hand, palm facing towards Krillin. “You’ve used up too much of your energy already! Your Kamehameha will be too weak! You’ll just waste the last of your energy!”
“HA!!!” Krillin threw his hands forward with a smirk and unleashed the beam of ki straight at Goku.
Goku stayed right where he was, hand still outstretched in front of him. He focused his ki and the Kamehameha slammed into his palm, exploding backwards as it couldn’t overcome Goku’s ki. “See?! I told you so!” He blinked as Krillin was nowhere to be seen.
Krillin was sliding on the tiles, having rushed forward the instant that Goku’s sight was obstructed, and then went low to keep himself out of his best friend’s line of sight. “Gotcha!” He grabbed Goku’s tail as he came to a stop right behind him.
“Oh!” Goku looked over his shoulder at Krillin, feeling the tight grip on his tail.
“Sorry Goku! You let me grab your weak spot! It’s over!” Krillin declared with a wide smile.
Tien perked up at that information. “Weak spot?!”
Jackie Chun had a small smile hidden behind his beard and mustache. “Oh ho! Good thinking, Krillin!”
Both Krillin and Jackie Chun were shocked when Goku’s tail wrapped around Krillin’s wrist tightly. Goku grinned at Krillin as he jerked him forward…straight into an elbow to the face.
“Gah!” Krillin tried to let go of Goku’s tail, but the monkey-like appendage wouldn’t let him go!
“WHAT?!” Jackie Chun cried out in surprise.
Goku lifted the off balance Krillin from the floor with the strength of his tail and then slammed into onto the tiles. “Sorry! But that won’t work anymore!”
Krillin quickly stood up and tried to land a chop onto Goku’s tail, but the brown-furred tail let him go and quickly swayed behind Goku again. “N-No way…” He groaned out as he faced down Goku. “I…I thought if your tail was squeezed, you lost your strength!”
“I’ve spent the last three years training my tail, too!” Goku declared with a grin, his tail waving in the air behind him. “Remember? Master Roshi told me to work on that weakness! Now having my tail squeezed doesn’t bother me!”
“N-No way…!” Krillin grimaced at that news.
Goku grinned at his best friend. “Have you ever tried to train a tail? It’s hard!”
Jackie Chun hummed, his eyes on Goku. ‘Incredible! I do recall telling him and the others to work on the weakness of the tails…and Caulifla did seem less affected when I grabbed hers…but it’s never easy to overcome one’s weaknesses! What effort and discipline it must’ve taken…’ He held his hands behind his back, glancing over at Bulma and Kale before his eyes locked back onto Goku. ‘That’s what makes Goku truly astonishing… Not just his innate, wild power and toughness… But his commitment…his ethics…’
Goku grinned at Krillin in the ring, though Krillin could only look at Goku in surprise that his last resort move wouldn’t work anymore.
‘At this point, Goku no longer has any innate weaknesses!’ Jackie was certain of that after seeing the loss of the tail weakness.
“Hey!” Krillin looked towards the crowd in surprise.
“Huh?” Goku turned to look at what Krillin had seen.
Krillin slammed his elbow into Goku’s jaw, whipping the Saiyan’s head to the side and making him stagger two steps.
Goku held his cheek with a wince. “Hey! That’s cheap!”
“There’s no ‘cheap’ in combat!” Krillin declared as he took up his stance again.
“…” Jackie blinked at the exchange. “Or rather, his only weakness now is his honest and trusting nature.”
Goku lightly rubbed his jaw one more time before smirking at Krillin. “Okay…”
Krillin cocked an eyebrow at that. “What do you mean ‘okay’?”
Goku vanished in a blur to the eyes of everyone watching.
“Huh?” Bulma blinked, not seeing Goku in the ring.
“Where did he…?” Kale was looking around as well.
Krillin looked around as well, his eyes scanning the ring. “What?! Where did you go?!” He looked up quickly. “You’re above!” His eyes widened at not seeing Goku in the air. “Not there either?! H-He actually disappeared?!”
The announcer wasn’t any better. “O-Oh my…! What in the world…? Or should I say, what NOT in the world?!”
“It can’t be!” Tsuru Sen’nin cried out, leaning forward over the wall separating the audience from the grass surrounding the ring. He couldn’t find any trace of Goku despite his centuries of experience.
Chiaotzu’s eyes were wide in shock, not seeing a trace of Goku anywhere either.
Tap Tap Tap Tap
Kale and Bulma both perked up slightly, their sharp hearing picking up on the light sound. Both girls focused even more, their eyes catching brief spots of orange that vanished faster than the blink of an eye.
Tap Tap Tap Tap
“Huh?! What’s that sound?!” Krillin focused harder, straining his senses. “There?!” He turned, having caught a brief glimpse of something to his left. “What?!” He kept seeing the briefest little spots of orange, but he couldn’t keep up with the color even as he tried to chase it with his eyes.
“He disappeared…but I can still sense his presence in the ring!” Jackie Chun said, barely managing to keep his surprised voice quiet enough to not draw attention.
Tien’s three eyes were moving swiftly, barely able to catch glimpses of Goku with their combined visual acuity. ‘It’s not that he’s disappeared…he simply can’t be seen!’ He lost track for a second, only to pick up on Goku again a second later.
Tap Tap Tap Tap
‘Even I can barely keep up…there’s no way anyone else can! That tapping is the sound of him repeatedly kicking off the ground!’ Tien caught just the briefest glimpse of Goku moving side-to-side with rapid steps. ‘He’s performing horizontal footwork at a speed that surpasses human capability! While slowly approaching his opponent…!’
“BOO!!!” Goku stooped right in front of Krillin, their faces a handful of centimeters apart.
“WHOA!!!” Krillin yelped and instinctively leapt backward, only to jerk to a stop as Goku’s tail grabbed the end of his black belt and kept him in place.
“He’s reappeared!” The announcer cried out in surprise.
A blur of strikes slammed into Krillin that only the other martial artists could see. A jab to the face, a chop to the neck, a punch to the stomach, an elbow to the jaw, a knifehand to the opposite side of the head, a punch to sternum, a palm heel to the bottom of the chin to rock Krillin’s head backwards and upset his balance entirely, and then an open palm to the chest that sent Krillin flying backwards.
“WAAA!!!” Krillin cried out as he crashed down onto the grass outside of the ring.
The announcer and everyone in the audience blinked at seeing Krillin hit the grass.
“O-Out of bounds… Son Goku wins…” The announcer said, clearly not having seen the finishing barrage.
“Yeah!” Goku threw a fist into the air with a bright smile on his face.
A large hippoman in the audience blinked and looked between Goku and Krillin. “What the…?”
The announcer did his best to explain the sudden loss to the clueless audience. “Startled by Goku’s sudden reappearance, Contestant Krillin fell out of bounds untouched…an anticlimactic end to a great battle…”
Krillin winced as he lightly touched his face and his stomach. All the blows he’d taken in the fight were lightly throbbing. ‘I definitely need to improve my defense.’ He thought, realizing that his strategy had been sound—at least with the information that he’d had—but he’d underestimated just how fast Goku was. ‘If I’d been able to parry or dodge a few more hits, I could’ve fought longer.’ He went over the fight in his head, already looking for ways to improve for next time.
“Man…” One guy in the audience let out a sigh at the ending of the match.
“Was that a let down or what?” A bearman asked his buddy.
The tigerman nodded once. “Lame is what it was…”
Tien felt a little sweat on his brow after the fight he’d just witnessed. ‘Anticlimactic end? Ha! There’s no way these moronic amateurs could know…that in that brief instant that Son Goku reappeared, he struck his opponent with eight blows. And with such control that he only knocked his friend out of bounds…’
In the audience, Tsuru Sen’nin was having similar thoughts. ‘Wh-What an unbelievable lad… I see now how he could have been strong enough to kill my brother.’ Even that silent acknowledgement made him clench his fists and tighten his jaw.
Goku held out his hand to Krillin to help his best friend back to his feet. “That was a great fight, Krillin! Sorry I had to beat ya!”
“Sheesh… I knew you’d gotten stronger, but HOW did you do that?” Krillin asked, taking Goku’s hand and being helped back to his feet. “Disappearing and throwing me back like that…what kind of technique was it?”
“I’ll show you how to do it later!” Goku said with a smile as they walked off the ring.
Bulma and Kale nearly tackled Goku as they wrapped him up in a hug between them. “Goku!” They beamed at him and kissed his cheeks. “That was great!”
Goku laughed and wrapped his arms around their waist, returning the hugs. “Thanks! It was a great fight!”
“You did really well, Krillin.” Bulma complimented her friend with a smile.
“Your idea to grab Goku’s tail would’ve worked, if we all hadn’t done tail training.” Kale nodded with a grin, her own tail waving behind her.
Krillin let out a sigh, wincing just slightly as his chest briefly stung with pain from the bruises. “You all could’ve told me about that earlier, you know?” He joked with his friends.
Bulma, Kale, and Goku looked between each other and then back to Krillin. “Nah!” Then they broke up into laughter.
“Yeah, yeah. I’ll win next time!” Krillin declared, holding out his fist to Goku.
Goku fist bumped with his best friend. “I’ll fight you any time, Krillin!”
“That was an interesting new ki technique you made, Krillin.” Bulma said with a nod.
Kale agreed with a smile. “Yeah, it was fast and you didn’t even have to charge it!”
Krillin smiled at the compliments. “I wanted a technique that was fast, and it proved to work pretty well. Though the speed and lack of charge does limit its power a bit.” That was proven by Goku taking multiple hits and still being, mostly, okay.
“Those did hurt.” Goku admitted, lightly patting his chest. “It was hard to predict them until I saw how you used the technique a couple times.”
Bulma hummed and held up her hand, palm facing upward. “Like this?” She focused for a few seconds and a small yellow orb of ki appeared above her palm.
Kale watched Bulma and nodded, as if understanding what she was seeing now that it was being demonstrated up close. “So it’s like that…”
“Aww man…come on… It took me way longer to make that technique!” Krillin said, watching Bulma use his ki technique after only seeing it a couple of times. There was a little frustration in his tone, but it was mostly light and friendly exasperation at how fast his friends and fellow disciples could pick up new techniques.
“We’ll teach you other techniques in exchange, if you want.” Bulma offered with a little laugh, letting the small ball of ki fade away.
Krillin shrugged, but winced at the movement. “Later, maybe. Right now I could use a breather…and couple painkillers.” He waved to them as he turned and entered the competitor’s hall.
Jackie Chun stood slightly off to the side and gave Krillin a nod. “That was an excellent match, young man. You’ve improved immensely since the last tournament.”
“Thank you, sir.” Krillin gave a short bow to the old master. “I know I’ve improved, but it seems my fellow disciples have improved just as much, if not more. I still have a long way to go.” He clenched his fist in front of him with a determined grin. “But next time, I’ll be the one that wins!”
“That’s an excellent mindset to have for a martial artist.” Jackie nodded with a small smile. “Learning from defeat is how one improves on their path to greater understanding. If you improve just as much by the next tournament as you did this one, I have no doubt that you’ll go even further.”
Krillin smiled and gave Jackie a polite bow, even if he winced slightly from his bruises. “Thank you kindly for your wisdom and encouragement, elder. I will continue to strive for greater improvement.” He walked towards the infirmary with a smile on his face, the loss to Goku only adding further determination to his desire to improve.
Once he arrived at the infirmary, he briefly noticed Caulifla’s posture change from tense and ready to attack, to a more relaxed lounging in the chair next to Launch’s bed. Lunch smiled at him, though her eyes widened just a bit at seeing his bruises.
“Looks like Goku won.” Caulifla teased with a smirk.
“I made him work for his win.” Krillin said back with his own smirk.
Lunch smiled brightly at Krillin. “I’m sure you did great!”
Caulifla stood up from the chair she was sitting in and offered it to Krillin. “I’ll let you take over the watch. I wanna see Kale and Bulma’s match.”
“Sure thing.” Krillin sat down and glanced around. “Is the doctor still around? I could use a painkiller… Goku had to do a number on me to knock me out of the ring.”
“He’s in his office.” Lunch said as she stood up. “I’ll go ask him for some painkillers for you.” She trotted off with a smile and Krillin did his best not to let his eyes drop to her nice butt.
Caulifla snickered quietly, making Krillin turn his head towards her quickly. “See something you like there, Krillin?”
Krillin felt his cheeks heat up a little. “N-No…” It was the most unconvincing ‘no’ he’d ever said in his life…and he knew it.
“Sure.” Caulifla laughed a bit as she turned and headed for the entrance to the infirmary. She stopped at the doorway and looked over her shoulder at Krillin with a smirk. “But if you two do get together…then you and Goku would end up as brothers-in-law in the future!” She left with a bright laugh after seeing Krillin’s face turn red.
Lunch returned with a couple of pills and a glass of water a moment later. “Here you go, Krillin…your face is really red, do you have a fever?” She asked curiously, especially when Krillin’s face only seemed to get redder as he looked at her.
“N-No! I’m fine!” Krillin said, cursing himself slightly at the stutter in his voice. “Thank you, Lunch.” He could barely look at her as he took the glass of water and the two pills.
“You’re welcome!” Lunch smiled, watching Krillin toss the two painkillers in his mouth and then drain the entire glass of water in one long pull. “Could you tell me about your match?” She asked politely as she sat back in her chair.
Krillin set the empty glass on the bedside table and then settled into his chair again. “Sure, it was a good fight, if I do say so myself.” He chuckled lightly, smiling when he saw Lunch giggle cutely.
-Competitor’s Hall-
“Yo!” Caulifla greeted her Mates with a grin.
“Hey!” Goku beamed at her and waved.
“Sis!” Kale was immediately hugging Caulifla with a big smile on her face.
Bulma glanced out the doorway to the ring where the announcer was pointing at a few damaged spots on the ring while talking with two of the temple monks. “Looks like we have a minute or so to chat. Did you get some rest after your match?” She asked Caulifla with a soft smile.
Caulifla nodded, stretching her arms over her head. “Yeah. Still a little sore here and there, but I’m doing better than I was.” Her face fell just a little. “Launch hasn’t woken up yet though.”
“She’ll be better soon. Launch is strong.” Goku said with absolute surety, his expression firm.
“Yeah, and she’ll be even stronger than before too!” Kale assured with a small smile, her own gentle (by Saiyan standards) nature shining through with concern for her injured Mate.
Bulma hugged Caulifla warmly and placed a little kiss on her cheek. “Once she’s awake, we’ll take her to the hospital and make sure everything’s okay.”
Caulifla accepted the gentle affection and hugged Bulma back briefly before looking at Goku. “About that. Do you think we could use your Nimbus to fly over to Master Korin’s and get Launch a Senzu? That would fix her up instantly, right?”
“Hey, that’s a great idea!” Goku’s expression brightened up instantly, a big smile on his face. “Let’s do it!”
“Master Korin probably wouldn’t mind sparing a single Senzu since it’s to help Launch.” Kale agreed with a cute smile, knowing the hermit cat sage was kind by nature.
“Sounds like we have a plan for after the tournament then.” Bulma smiled happily, eager to get Launch back on her feet and stronger than ever.
With the mood brighter than before, the four shared a group hug and a few short kisses together, happy to have a plan to make sure Launch would be okay as soon as possible.
Seeing that Jackie Chun was the only other person in the competitor’s hall…and that he was sitting on the other side of the large area, meditating…Bulma grinned and trailed her hand down Goku’s chest, stopping at the waistband of his pants.
“Bulma?” Goku looked at her curiously.
“Your fight with Krillin was great, Goku.” Bulma said with a naughty grin. “You got me and Kale all riled up…”
Kale blushed a little. “Bulma…” She let out the cutest little whine as she looked at her Mate. She noticeably didn’t deny Bulma’s words though.
Caulifla smirked, her hand joining Bulma’s on Goku’s waistband. “I don’t think there’s enough time for us to sneak off.” She trailed her fingers along the black cloth belt teasingly.
“Sis…” Kale’s cheeks were red now, but her eyes kept drifting down to where their hands were playing with Goku’s belt and pants. Her tail swayed in agitation, her body riled up for a fight…or something else.
“This doesn’t seem like the best place.” Goku said as he looked around, but Caulifla, Kale, and Bulma all watched him breathe deeply…and saw the minute twitches of his body as he picked up on their scents and the eager pheromones within.
Bulma hummed, leaning in to kiss Goku’s lips lightly. “It’s not…but we’re still waiting for our match.”
Kale lightly nudged Bulma to the side and took Goku’s lips for herself with a heated little hum. “Mmm…Goku.”
“After we get Launch taken care of…after the tournament.” Goku said with a low rumble in his voice.
Sparring was basically foreplay between male and female Saiyans. Watching the opposite sex fight was similar to a mating display, depending on the context. A tournament like the Tenka’ichi Budokai was a perfect chance for the five Saiyans to see how strong they’d each gotten in the last three years…which in turn got them all a bit riled up as they watched their Mates fight. It was only natural, for them, to put aside even the thought of food when their instincts were firing on a completely different set of signals beyond their base necessities.
“Mmm, we should definitely celebrate after one of us beats that three-eyed bastard into the ground.” Caulifla said with a little growl in her words, her hand going a little lower to cup Goku over his pants. She’d be hard-pressed to wait if she got to see Goku take down the jackass that hurt their Mate.
Ding Dong
The speakers came to life with a sound meant to get attention.
“Alright, Tenka’ichi Budokai guests!” The announcer’s voice was heard all over the grounds. “After a quick inspection of the ring after our last round, it’s been determined to be safe to continue the matches!”
A cheer rose up from outside.
“Would our next two contestants please come to the ring!” The announcer’s excitement was just as high as the crowd’s, getting another loud cheer to rise up.
The Saiyans pulled away from each other, Bulma and Kale’s riled up bodies quickly shifting from sexually charged to battle ready as the two states were much closer in Saiyans than in humans.
“Ready, Kale?” Bulma asked with a grin, her blue eyes nearly burning with lust…sexual bleeding into battle as her body readied itself for combat.
“Ready!” Kale nodded, her dark eyes alight with an almost hunger.
Behind them, both Caulifla and Goku let out heated breaths…their own instincts getting riled up as they could smell the change in their Mates.
Bulma playfully stuck her tongue out at Kale. “Don’t be mad when I win again.”
“If.” Kale said with a little grin on her lips. “If you win…”
The two walked out the large doorway of the competitor’s hall and towards the ring to the loud cheering and applause of the crowd.
Goku and Caulifla took two deep breaths each to rein their instincts in. Both quickly made their way out the doorway and to the wall, hopping up onto it so that they had an unobstructed view of the fight that was about to begin. It was Caulifla who noticed Tien returning to stand behind the destroyed wall on the opposite side of the short paved walkway that led to the ring.
“He doesn’t look nearly as confident as he was earlier.” Caulifla said to Goku with a little smirk on her face.
“I think he knows we’re stronger than he thought we were.” Goku said with a small glare on his face. He still felt the anger inside at Tien for what the man had done to Launch. “I’m gonna do my best to get to the finals. If he’s there, then I’m going to win!” He clenched his fists tightly to seal that promise.
Caulifla nodded in agreement. “If the old timer knocks him out of the tournament, then we’ll wait until afterwards to beat him up for what he did to Launch.” There was no way that any of the Turtle School members were letting the brutalization of one of their own slide. “They started it, but we’ll finish it.”
“Our competitors for the fourth match have a history, folks!” The announcer declared to the audience. “They fought at the last Tenka’ichi Budokai, with Bulma taking the win! But Kale joined the Turtle School after the last tournament and now the two sister-disciples are back to show us what they can do! Which of these incredible ladies will win this time around?!”
“WHOOOAAA!!!” The crowd cheered loudly, getting even more excited at the ‘revenge match’ they were about to witness.
Tien narrowed all three of his eyes, focusing on Kale and Bulma closely. ‘I need to learn everything I can about my potential opponents. With Jackie Chun having such a rough fight in his first match, I shouldn’t have too much difficulty defeating him.’ He would still be cautious though. The old master was clearly a sly fox with a bag full of martial arts tricks. ‘But once I defeat him, then it will come down to me and one of these three.’ His main two eyes remained locked on Bulma and Kale as the girls fluidly took up their stances across from each other, while his third eye looked over at Goku. ‘I will take revenge for Taopaipai, Son Goku! Just you wait!’
None of the competitors could know just how much would change over the last few matches of this tournament, and that something far worse than bad blood between two rival schools would appear soon enough.

Woo! Krillin gave Goku one hell of a fight this time around! Using various little tricks and strategies to keep Goku on the back foot when he could!
But Goku proved to be stronger and had a way around Krillin’s last resort strategy.
But no one was expecting Krillin’s ‘instant ki blast’ technique! Even Goku got knocked around by it!
Unfortunately, showing a technique to a Saiyan multiple times in a row is just asking for it to be copied…especially if it’s relatively simple! Heh!
The interest between Lunch and Krillin does seem to be two-way, doesn’t it! Or Caulifla seems to think so, at least! Adorable!
Next chapter we get Bulma versus Kale (Revenge Match! lol) Which Saiyan girl has improved the most in their three years of training?
Keep reading to find out!
