What scary movie's everyone watching this All Hallows' Eve?

Comments

JamesIsAsleep

Ooo, good question, can't wait to see what people are saying. It's not quite a horror film, but 'I'm thinking of ending things' is haunting nonetheless. Other than that I really don't watch movies, I barely get through the new 'Haunting' series on Netflix, lol. But I have taken to watching 'Reaction Videos' to people watching the classics.

Mike Monroe

The Exorcist...The Omen...Hocus pocus...the wife!!

BNR

I used to watch the Freddy and Jason movie when we were young but now for scares, there can be only Alien and Aliens.

Tim ziegler

It was 1968 I was 17 first date with Brenda I’d been chasing her for months, took her to see Night Of The Living Dead.Scared the crap out of both of us didn’t have any problem getting my arm around her!

RCH

Watched "Dr. Sleep" it was good a sequel to the "shinning".

DavidnDaria

No movie.. we went to a local party.... weird party in these times. When everyone obeys the rules.

Tracey52

The nightly news bulletin.

ktmorrison

The old dawn of the dead is still one of my all time faves! I once went on a tour of that old mall with some of the actors...

ktmorrison

All these movies are the best. Crazy that aliens was James Cameron

ktmorrison

Exorcist and the omen are tops in my book, for sure!

ktmorrison

Have you seen the video of people leaving the exorcist, ha ha? I love that...

ktmorrison

My triple bill: let’s scare Jessica to death, Brian de palmas Sisters, and Midsommar

ktmorrison

I was on my phone during the whole bly manor series

ktmorrison

The doctor sleep book was even better than the shining, imo!

JamesIsAsleep

Wow some classic, classics I see. I didn't watch 'Midsommar,' but after watching a breakdown of the insanity that was 'Hereditary' I watched someone break 'Midsommar' down and wow that's dark.

JamesIsAsleep

Exorcist was one of the films I watched a YouTuber's first reactions to, my favorite part was "aww, is she going to be possessed?" to Linda Blair's character, lol, she was going into the film THAT blind in 2020.

CSH

70s classics. I have that service as well. Haven’t seen Sisters before.

ktmorrison

The 70s movies were on Criterion Collection (they have a 70s horror section rn), and Midsommar was on Amazon. But I fell asleep half way into Midsommar! It was totally fantastic, I was just up past my bedtime.

CSH

I have criterion as well. How was Sisters? is it worth a look? Watched Midsommar a while back. It’s like an updated Wicker Man. Plus “Don’t Look Now” is in the 70s collection and it’s too frightening to watch again.

Actually, late last night (well, early in the morning), we watched "Dr. Strangelove". What a great, great movie!

True Story: A long time ago, in another life I drove a taxi in Boston, nights. In some parts of town, you dropped a passenger, locked the doors, and got out of that area ASAP, no stopping for traffic lights or signs. One morning, around 02h, the dispatcher called for a cab “Downtown, South End.” No answer to repeated calls; no one was going back into the South End at that hour. Finally, the dispatcher said, “South End for a celebrity.” He got a response from someone and the next we heard was “Red 243, get xx West Newton Street for {think “House on a Haunted Hill”}.” That location was known as a “specialty house”, meaning BDSM or similar activities, prompting one driver to enquire what this many was doing there. The next we heard on the radio was “what the hell do you think he was doing there?"

RCH

It's a classic!

RCH

Not a Halloween movie but a good watch is netflix "The Queens Gambit" binge watched it last night.

ktmorrison

If you like Brian DePalma (or Hitchcock) it is pretty great. Margot Kidder's Quebecois accent is suspect, but her performance is otherwise excellent. Lots of cool DePalma split screens, nice pace, heavy duty writing. Like Midsommar, the effort in the writing to establish scenario and character is so admirable. The setup for Sisters, how the characters are introduced, is freaking novel! Overall, it will have less impact now than it did in the 70s, I guess, because there's been other movies since that imitate it. Have you seen his movie Dressed To Kill? It's more like that, than Scarface, ha ha. Sisters also had a Cronenberg feel that I enjoyed.

ktmorrison

JamesIsAsleep: Midsommar is highly recommended. I love the way the story is setup. It's much more enjoyable than the rest of the movie (not that the rest wasn't enjoyable).

ktmorrison

I love Dr. Strangelove. Peter Sellers and Stanley Kubrick? yes, please.

ktmorrison

Heyo! Ha ha, what DID the guy think he was doing there? I wonder if that house still stands, and if the new owners know what once transpired there?

ktmorrison

waitasecond... do you mean the house was a big mansion like HoHH, or that the celeb was from HoHH?

ktmorrison

I absolutely loved QG! She's a character I'd write, and in many ways reminds me of Keely!

Donkatsu

Le star et le realisateur du film

Donkatsu

I beleive the man was shocked that a person of such stature would be in THAT kind of place. Just checked with Street View, it is gone in original form.

Donkatsu

Don't you think a second season would spoil the story? Some dramas should end when the story is not fully completed.

Donkatsu

My father took me to see Strangelove in the theater (!) when I was 15; it shaped/warped my view of the world forever. You do remember that Gen Buck Turgidson's (George C. Scott) mistress had had a thing with the Colonel on duty in the War Room. I believe the secondary target was the "missile complex at LaPuta." KT might know; my mind never traffics in such carnality.

Donkatsu

From IMDB: [Strangelove's plan for post-nuclear war survival involves living underground with a 10:1 female-to-male ratio] General "Buck" Turgidson : Doctor, you mentioned the ratio of ten women to each man. Now, wouldn't that necessitate the abandonment of the so-called monogamous sexual relationship, I mean, as far as men were concerned? Dr. Strangelove : Regrettably, yes. But it is, you know, a sacrifice required for the future of the human race. I hasten to add that since each man will be required to do prodigious... service along these lines, the women will have to be selected for their sexual characteristics which will have to be of a highly stimulating nature. Ambassador de Sadesky : I must confess, you have an astonishingly good idea there, Doctor.

RCH

Donkatsu, I have to agree 110% on that! Story is done, stop, finished, complete...FIN. I there is another season it's going to go into her spiraling down the rabbit hole more drugs and alcohol, etc. Or exploring her lesbian side etc. Stop it's perfect! what if Leonardo had added a broach to the Mona Lisa's out fit! It would have changed the focus of the work! The QG is similar to "A Beautiful Mind" it the drama of someone dealing with their demon's and winning.

DavidnDaria

Favorite sayings... Purity of essence and precious bodily fluids! This movie is absolute brilliance on so many levels. I first saw it with my Dad... At the end, who thinks Peter Sellers is close to breaking up, falling out of character?

ktmorrison

Interesting!... So a double bill? Two of them. Probably research for a movie, ahem.
