Tarantino is a mad man... 🤣 This movie is wild but we had an absolutely awesome time watching along! Uma Thurman was brilliant we thought, well, as always the entire cast in Vol. 1 were great! Great dailogue as always, insane fight scenes, beautiful music! A thoroughly good time sitting down to watch this one! Vol. 2 will be coming along shortly too! Let us know what you think of this one! Did you enjoy or it or was it too much? Haha! This is one of MY personal favorites from Tarantino. I really enjoyed your reaction to the first half as always. I don’t want to spoil anything but I do have a few things to address: Hattori Hanzo is a famous samurai character in japanese media going back many decades. Tarantino was trying to pay homage to that legacy; he did it quite well, in my opinion. Lauren, this IS one of those movies intentionally constructed to keep the viewer guessing, so you shouldn’t feel any unpleasantness for that. Pretty much ANYONE seeing it for the first time feels that way. The weapon that gogo the psycho wields is actually a modernized version of a chinese weapon known as the meteor hammer. As you probably can guess, it requires an immense amount of skill and practice to master. In the hands of a novice I would say it is nearly as dangerous to the operator as to their adversary. One of the things that bugs the shit out of me is O-Ren’s death: slicing the head with a sword would leave a clean cut. It would not have gone around the brain as the wound is depicted. NO idea why Tarantino chose THAT….. Tarantino did mention that he happened to be in a japanese shop at one point during pre-production and happen to hear a song by the 5,6,7,8’s (the band playing the house of blue leaves) and he decided right then that he wanted them for his movie. I would like to recommend two films to you, they are a….well….I would call it a loose duology. One of them has uma as one of the leads and one has john travolta. Get Shorty is the first one and Be Cool is the sort-of sequel. Very much worth your time to watch. I can assure you that most of the questions you have about this one will be answered in the next one.

I do love that it kept me guessing! I couldn't picture watching a film and never knowing the main characters name but he pulled that off incredibly well! I can see why it's such a popular film, it really had something for everyone 😂 Tarantino always has a great soundtrack in his films!
