The Key Lime Pie is accurate for being closely tied to Florida, because it is really the only U.S. state where Key Limes are grown because of the climate. Something to make you aware of, the reason that ice cream in Idaho is made to look like a potato is because potato farming is a HUGE industry in that state. Idaho produces about 1/3rd of all potatoes in the United States.

It's odd they didn't give the ingredients in a Nanaimo Bar. Bottom Base: crushed graham crackers, shredded coconut, cocoa powder, butter, sugar, and chopped nuts. Middle Filling: buttercream frosting flavored with yellow custard powder. Topping: melted semi-sweet chocolate or chocolate ganache.

Ohh boy that sounds so good!! Mmm custard powder in the frosting 😋 will definitely be finding a recipe and making at home!

Oh that is fascinating about the potatoes! Makes a lot more sense.. I'm also only just learning Key Limes are a thing?! I assumed it was regular limes and that was the name of the dessert, thanks for reaching me something new today 😊

Key limes are smaller, more aromatic, and more tart, compared to Persian limes which are larger, milder, and easier to use. That’s the core difference.

-Simple chemistry: Baking soda + Cream of Tartar = Baking Powder -The "Ambrosia" I'm familiar with is a dessert made with coconut, mini marshmallows, and various fruits, usually combined with either mayonnaise or cream cheese/yogurt/Cool Whip, etc. It reminds me of a lot of desserts from the Midwest that contain "salad" in the name (Watergate Salad, Snickers Salad, etc.) -It's called "chess pie" because when said in a certain accent, it sounds like "just" pie, because it's... just pie. -The closer (although still different) comparison you were looking for with molasses is treacle, as in "A crate of treacle was upset all over Percy"; I know some people who got so sick of brown sugar clumping up in their pantry they just use white sugar and add a glug of molasses, because that's what brown sugar basically is.

Oh yes Treacle was exactly the perfect comparison! Completely forgot about it as I don't use it myself but it's definitely closer than what I was saying 😅 Ah yes I've heard about these different "salads" that are actually dessert! Feels so odd for me to not associate it as a savory dish. We will definitely need to get some of the ingredients and try some of these recipes.. Thanks for letting us know about Chess pie, we've been wracking our brains trying to think of a connection that would work 😅

I am from Arkansas and let me tell you from experience that if you ever have a chance to make or partake in a Possum Pie you will not be disappointed. It is called possum pie because the whipped cream "plays possum" with you by hiding everything else under it. Not sure when the actual term possum pie came about, but I have my grandmother's recipe that was handed down by her great grandmother. So it is at least over a hundred years old in my family. Probably older than that as far as when it was first made. It was also not had very often by my grandmother growing up as chocolate was quite expensive according to her.

Ahh after the saying not the animal 😅 I'm glad to hear this hahah It looks so good! Definitely one we will try when we get a chance!! That's really awesome you have a recipe to pass to family! Love when traditions like that are kept alive ☺️

In case y'all want to make it yourself (it is easy) I dug it up: 1. Make the crust by mixing flour, melted butter, brown sugar and chopped pecans in a bowl and press it into a pie plate. Bake for 15-20 minutes. I just do it until it is golden brown 2. Beat cream cheese, heavy cream, and granulated sugar until it is smooth. Spread it over the baked crust. 3. Make homemade chocolate pudding (Cocoa, egg yolk, milk) or Instant works as well. Make sure it thickens and spread over cream cheese. 4. Heavy whipped cream over the top and top with chocolate shavings, mini kisses, or drizzle. Sprinkle more chopped pecans lightly over the top. 5. Put it in the fridge for 4 hours. Enjoy!

Yum!! Thank you, I will definitely be making this, it sounds too good!
