Happy Saturday, Camilla. I'm so glad that you were impressed by The Green Mile (1999). I did watch this movie when Addie did so and I was impressed by it too. It does have its fair share of heartbreaking moments, like the ending.

I remember the night this film opened. I was able to see it in the theatre with one of my childhood best friends. Her parents came along, as well. I had read the serialized novel, as those paperbacks had been released over six months in 1996, but no one I was with was familiar with the story. This was the only time I can remember the end credits rolling in a theatre without anyone saying a word. The lights came up, and not a single person left. There were about 40 of us in attendance that night, but as the maintenance crew came in to clean, we all just broke off into small huddles and quietly talked about what we had just saw for a good 20 minutes. I doubt I'll experience anything like that again outside of a festival.

I agree good acting in this. Sam Rockwell is an excellent actor. I thought David Morse was cast well as Brutal. Moreover, as you alluded, there is reality in the movie in conjunction with the supernatural. Still have electric chair as an option for execution in Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee. Arkansas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. The last execution by electrocution in the US was in 2020 in Tennessee. (The inmate chose electric chair over lethal injection because of recent problems w/lethal injection.) The last person to be executed by electric chair in the US without the choice of an alternative method was a woman in 2002 in Alabama. Last week, President Biden commuted most (37) of the federal death sentences to life w/o chance of parole. In response, President-elect Donald Trump says he'll “vigorously pursue” seeking and implementing the death penalty. "On the day of my judgment, when I stand before God, and He asks me why did I kill one of his true miracles, what am I gonna say? That it was my job? My job?"

I'm not religious but bless Michael Clarke Duncan 1957-2012. Thank you for sharing Camellia 😘

Thanks for your reaction video, Camilla. You picked up a few more details than I did during my first viewing. With some films I get so immersed in what's on the screen that I momentarily focus on one thing but may miss something else. After Paul Edgecomb was healed by John Coffey, he came home to his wife and contracted another disease, aptly named after a supermarket cat food, the Friskies. Your observation about someone like Percy being responsible for anyone else's well-being rings true in real life. I once had a co-worker, Alfred, who struck me as an odd sort. There were a few clues over the years while we worked together that he was a little bit off. And, no, he wasn't a murderer or anything like that. He shared with us that he came home from work and found the dishes left on the kitchen table from the previous night's dinner. He confronted his wife about the dishes and then swept them off the table onto the floor with his arm. Another evening went out to dinner after work with a couple of other co-workers and afterwards when the bill came we all chipped in to tip our server and Alfred said, "I don't tip. It's against my principles." What principles?!! Principles as prescribed from the Book of friggin' Cheapskates? Alfred used to deride and insult another co-worker, Robert, but then one day out of the blue he asked Robert if he'd like to come along with Alfred and his wife to go rafting on the river. Robert was really pleased to be asked but I informed him that the rubber raft rental was one-way down the river and that someone with a pickup truck has to transport the raft back to the rental place afterwards. Robert has a pickup truck. The point of this long spiel is that Alfred resigned his job in our office and mentioned that he was going to attend college again to become a nurse. Wow. I mentioned to Robert that if Alfred actually becomes a nurse, I would be looking for news articles that described some unexplained deaths in local hospitals.

This is one of those rare movies that one does not watch but experiences. One thing that makes the movie bearable is that Coffey actually wanted to die at the end. I think Percy may the most hated and despised character of all time, one that makes people actually feel rage and anger. There are certainly worse characters, I mean even in this movie Sam Rockwell's character is far worse but you don't feel that same degree of raw resentment towards him. While you recognized Barry Pepper from Private Ryan you did not seem to recognize Gary Sinise the lawyer who was Lt. Dan in Forest Gump. The other notable Tom Hanks movies to eventually react to are Castaway and Apollo 13. Director Frank Darabont's other notable film based on Stephen King is the horror 'The Mist' which has a legendary ending, some say bad and some say great (like me) but all say it is something to behold.

agh I KNEW the lawyer felt familiar but couldn't figure out why, and forget to check that after! *thank you* for settling my brain, haha

+1 for Apollo 13. By the way, also has Gary Sinise (along with Tom Hanks you mention).

Houston, we have a problem child.

Saw we had to repost again. Isn’t it the music that gives it away? Lalal.ai can isolate the vocals for you and remove the music, very clean. There’s a cost to the service but it’s not expensive and it’s easier than learning one of the open source tools. Bc I see a lot of reaction channels roll without the water mark, clear visuals, and be fine, but I’ve noticed they run, like, a low pass filter across moments of heavy music, so maybe this will help with that?

thank you for this, I'll look into it! I do try to distort the audio whenever there's music or score. it actually does tell me whether it's the video or audio that's been claimed, and most of the time with my reactions so far it's been the video. but having an extra pass at the audio never hurts!

Ah! I think my DJ brain might have focused on audio strikes bc they’re my woe lol Well, if the watermark works, I don’t mind it at all (especially since I’m paying for the full uncut here anyway 😝)
