Happy Sunday, Camilla. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Weapons (2025). My girlfriend & I heard a lot of good things about this movie and now I wanna watch it with her.

Amy Madigan aka Aunt Gladys is Kevin Costner's wife in Field of Dreams. Pretty amazing performance. I think she was doing something like siphoning the life force from the people she controlled. They're talking about doing a prequel with her character. You should definitely check out Barbarian sometime.

I've watched this movie several times, now. I get a bit teary-eyed when Archer is speaking to his son, and again for a brief moment when we see young Alex caring for the others. Alex chooses not to judge those as harshly as others have judged him.

I really liked this movie, although I did have the same reaction when the movie ended. It was quite abrupt, and it left me wondering about the motivation and backstory of the Gladys character. There were also some other small things that I think could have been done better. The lighting was especially frustrating at times, but I guess this is the modern aesthetic for horror movies. Overall a really good movie, but I wish we'd gotten a bit more closure. I guess it's a good thing when a movie leaves you wanting more.

WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILER in my speculation. I think it's possible that Gladys is not who she claims to be. Alex's parents said that they hadn't seen Aunt Gladys for 15 years, yet Gladys told Alex that "I haven't seen you since you were a teeny little baby." Yet, Alex is younger than 15 years old so Gladys couldn't possibly have met him. Gladys may have done something to Alex's aunt and subsequently taken her place in order to gain access to Alex's family. As creepy as Amy Madigan's portrayal as Aunt Glady is, I get a chuckle watching her little mannerisms when she interacts with Marcus, both in his office and later in her ruse to infiltrate his home. Missed the bus, my ass! She drove Alex's family's car to Marcus' house. Also, can we give it up for Marcus and Terry's choice of snack foods when watching nature documentaries? Ruffles potato chips, ranch dip, baby carrot sticks, 7 hot dogs (where's the 8th dog?) with mustard not ketchup, and chocolate chip cookies!

yes it became much more clear to me on my rewatch while editing that Aunt Gladys must be from another time. an actual true witch, maybe! I loved how quirky marcus and terry were together! I'm so sad for them ahaha

Camilla's Corner

did I finally beat you to a movie?! yall will have to watch soon!

Camilla's Corner

We originally wanted to see it in theaters before I went on vacation to Canada.
