When you see the Joker on screen, you see the Joker, not Heath Ledger as the Joker. One of the best acting performances ever. RIP

Let's give Camilla a round of applause for surviving The Dark Knight (2008)! 👏👏 Happy Tuesday. This is my favorite Batman movie and it was the first time IMAX film cameras were used to shoot certain scenes in this one. Even Addie was stressed out, due to the film's suspenseful nature.

A film that stays with you this film is high drama and one of the best acted action films ever!

apparently, Katie Holmes ruled herself out of the sequels, unsure of the reason.

The balloon and tether system that gets snatched up by a passing aircraft while Batman is escaping Hong Kong is a real life device known as "Skyhook". It was developed by the CIA in the 1950's to rescue US personnel trapped in unfriendly territory where it would be impossible to land a rescue aircraft. The balloon suspends an elastic line high enough in the air for an aircraft with a specialized "V" shaped attachment to fly by and snatch the line. The elasticity of the line keeps the person(s) on the end from being severely injured by whiplash, but I've got to imagine that would still be a pretty violent take off. I can definitely see Christopher Nolan learning about this somewhere and trying to come up with a cool way to incorporate it into a movie.

Also, YES the semi-truck flip during the Joker chase scene was filmed practically. The vapor seen coming from the bottom of the truck is actually an emission from the pneumatic cannon used to flip the truck. Nolan is well known for his preference for practical effects when possible.

The Joker's backstory is often changed and left ambiguous most of the time. The Joker has once said if he were to have a backstory, he'd prefer it to be multiple choice, and is known to make up conflicting backstories. Anyways, great reaction! I'm so glad that you have now seen this amazing movie!

The rumors about this role leading to Heath Ledger's death are a myth. Everyone close to Heath and a part of this movie speak very highly about his demeanor off screen while shooting and shortly after. The myth sounds tantalizing, which is why it's so widespread, but the tragic reality is that Heath died of an accidental lethal combination of prescription drugs. He didn't become some kind of tormented soul from falling too deep into a dark role. He was just a human being who made a devastating mistake. There are a number of rumors that permeate this movie that aren't true actually. The other rumors are harmless anecdotes that add to the aura of the film, like the hospital explosion sequence actually malfunctioning and Heath improvising his little pause and tapping of the detonator. Fun to imagine, not actually true though. But the false rumors about his death don't sit right with me. Like people are ok with miscategorizing a person's death just to add to the mystique of a movie performance. Anyway, I'll hop off my soapbox. Awesome reaction. Was really looking forward to this one and you didn't disappoint! Glad you enjoyed the movie, it's an all timer.

MCU in this case stands for Major Crime Unit. There are many different versions of batman and the Joker in the comics, the Dark Knight was 1 type and the JOKER movie was the only one I ever saw that was accurate to the comics as far as the Origin story for the Joker, had a wife and was a struggling comedian that the mob set up and then he snapped, The version Jack Nicolson played was more comical and was amazing! But this version of the Joker was more accurate to the Joker's style. I really hope you watch the Jack Snyder's DC movies they were really good!
