James O'connor

His most disturbing movie perhaps and that's saying a lot. Some kind of dark punk rock dystopia

Camron

i don't dislike this movie, but it's not one of my favourite Kubricks. I feel like the novel does a better job with the story.

Camilla's Corner

happy to hear that it hopefully doesn't get more disturbing from here 🤣😅

Henry Graham

This is not my favourite Kubrick film (that's coming up next with Barry Lyndon), and I think it's one of his few films that has dated poorly, but it's undeniably an arresting fully formed vision, and it's packed with ingenious, hilarious and horrifying ideas and images. When I was growing up in the UK and discovering Kubrick's films it was always such an alluring title because it was impossible to see. It had been withdrawn from UK distribution at the director's request in 1973 following a number of news stories tenuously linking the film to acts of real violence. The Scala Cinema in London actually went bankrupt in 1993 after hosting an illegal screening and being sued. I finally saw it when the ban was lifted in the early 2000s, and it's strange that it's become such a fixture on the repertory screening circuit now after so many years of being considered too dangerous to be viewed for almost thirty years.
