hey friends, thank you so much for hanging out with me on Patreon for another month!

in this month's video, I talk about some of thoughts & feedback from the survey I posted the other day from 00:00-07:24. there's some questions for y'all in there, if you have any opinions on some improvements and expansions that I'm discussing!

spinning wheel happens at 07:24

q+a starts around 09:51!

and I discuss how I plan to approach Marvel after the Q+A, around 29:16!

To partially answer your first question, the video on Patreon seems a little choppy at times. It stops for a split second, and then jumps forward again. I don’t know why that is happening. It’s not a deal breaker for me, because it’s not very disruptive. It’s kind of like watching a movie with a low frame rate. I don’t have to re-synch. I can’t answer the YT question, since a primary reason I’m here is for full length reactions. I’m not a member to get early access to YT edits.

ooo to clarify, I think the feedback was to have an unlisted YT video length for the full length reactions because of Patreon's choppiness (which I had no idea was happening!). so in theory, I could do the unlisted YT links instead of the video being directly in Patreon - or, I can just do both and add a link to the unlisted YT full-length reaction anytime that I'm posting a full-length reaction. hopefully that makes sense!

Thanks for the clarification. A link to a full length YT reaction would be fine. The choppiness on Patreon isn’t so bad that it’s unwatchable (the audio isn’t choppy, just the video), but I would enjoy watching full length reactions without it.

thanks for your thoughts! yeah I hadn't realized that was happening until publishing this survey so I'm glad I know now!

Hi Camilla. Yes, I have experienced some stopping of the video reaction when it is playing on Patreon video player. I have tried to solve this using different browsers, but still had an issue. I had not experienced this with another reactor who uses the Patreon video player, so I wondered if it was a difference in the video type (Compression rate, etc.) that you were uploading versus the other reactor. Solving this issue through adjusting things about the video you submit for the Patreon video player seemed tough, so using an unlisted YouTube video for the reaction would likely solve this problem as YouTube converts everything they receive into the same result. Some reactors, an example is Popcorn In Bed, tried using the Patreon video player for a while, but abandoned it in favor of an unlisted YouTube video precisely because they found the Patreon video player generated too many unsatisfactory results. If that change is not a good fit for other reasons, no worries. It does not happen on every video and perhaps Patreon will quickly resolve the issue on their end. Thanks again for being so responsive to feedback. 😊

You might want to make an executive decision and throw Portrait of a Lady on Fire into your schedule. Even though it wasn't my pick, it's a 5 star movie in my opinion.

From what I hear, Patreon also eventually has a limit on how many uploads you can have, so if Camilla wants this to be a long term thing, probably better to just swap now.

thank you so much for bringing it to my attention! I think I'll start doing both as an option. I'll also investigate my export settings to see if I can figure out if there's an issue there, though I don't want to count on figuring out the technological hiccups 🤣

they actually increased their upload limit significantly - where it used to be 100 hours total, it's now 100 hours per month! but, who knows if that could change one day so you're right!

Blind Entertainment

Marvel is definitely a daunting task. Easing in slowly is probably the best way to start. Also I liked/appreciate the survey. You’re the only creator I know who’s done that.

Thanks for answering my directors question! Hamnet and Train Dreams were my favorite films this past year - both contemplative, both with Oscar nominations, and both SO worth a viewing. (And Godfather 3 is an excellent film. Give it a viewing and see for yourself!) Cheers, Camilla! Many thanks for what you do.

another one that popped in my head after I recorded - Fincher! excited to see more of his!

Alan Black

Excellent answer! Fincher has several great films and more than a couple of timeless ones.

Crimson Possum

Excalibur! A great movie with so many incredible talents early in there careers. Patrick Stewart, Helen Mirren, Liam Neeson and Ciaran Hinds. Lets not forget the awesome soundtrack O fortuna and Wagner's Funeral March.

ButtercupsTrueLove

I've been watching Prime Video's "Scarpetta" series, and the family dynamic is more complex than I was expecting for a crime procedural.

Thanks Camilla! Love this film from my childhood. I don't think you need to study up on King Arthur to appreciate this film. I hope you like it.
