since blade runner is winning the 80s poll, it looks like that's what we'll be watching! I hadn't realized there were different cuts/versions, and y'all were so kind to let me know and give your input. however, I'm now a bit undecided on which one to watch. there's only one opportunity to watch something for the first time! 🤣

so, making this poll to hopefully get an idea of what the majority would prefer. it seemed that the Final cut had the most vocal support, and is more than likely what I'll look into watching, but if this poll leads us somewhere else then I'm open to that too!

Final Cut for the win.

Morning, Camilla ... yes I can definitely see the hesitancy on which version you need to see. I am sure the editor if this film was not up for any awards ...lol ... whether its director or final cut, you can not really go wrong -- voted for directors cut b/c after all its his (Ridley Scott's) vision on how he wants to view this film for the public.

I’m fine with either the Director’s Cut or the Final Cut (which is the best). The only one of these I would advise against is the Theatrical Cut, even though it was the first one I saw and is very good. The other two are just better.

Director's Cut is what the director intended, that was possible with the means at the time, and Final Cut is the same with slight changes that the director was able to make with later means. Either is equally fine. Theatrical Cut should be avoided. The difference is the theatrical has changes that were mandated by the studio under the belief that "all viewers are morons, so change it for the morons". Both director and actors hated those studio mandates so much (and most fans do too) that they intentionally sabotaged the quality so the studio would have no choice to remove them. So those scenes have very poor quality audio/camera work, etc.....only for the studio to release the theatrical cut with them, as a message that they are the ones who hold the power.

I'm very much looking forward to your reaction to Blade Runner. It's such a seminal work that's had a broad influence on future films (and other media).

If you are a reader, find Neuromancer by Gibson. This book and Blade Runner came out around the same time, with a similar vision. Or you can wait a bit since it is being made into an episodic series. (It better be good.)

9% of people are anarchists (or whatever the percentage in favor of theatrical)
