as a perk of the Executive Producer tier, patrons are able to propose a poll theme/category of their choosing (and movies to go within that poll).

so for our first EP poll, Grant suggested a poll for one-shot films! whether they're a pure single take, or cut a small number of times to create that illusion - we have some good options below so vote away!

1917 is clearly a one - shot take film ... and the way the one shot is done is phenomenal. A must see for filmmakers!

Henry Graham

Boiling Point is the only film that really does the job properly on this poll. The best film in this mode (and a true one-shot film, that doesn't cheat) is Sebastian Schipper's Victoria from 2015 or Mike Figgis' Timecode, which offers four one-take films for the price of one!

Adrian Duenas

I’m giving it to Rope! The cuts are pretty obvious but it’s one of my top favorite Hitchcock films for its tension and camerawork.

BIRDMAN did it before, and very similar approach too. I wouldn’t be surprised if 1917 was inspired by BIRDMAN actually.

Alexander George

It's possible directors and cinematographers do follow each other in viewing their craft , in this case the one - shot.

Blind Entertainment

Going with 1917! One of the reasons I’ve recommended it in the past is because it being a one take film, and you wanting to be a director.

LOVE 1917, great historical accuracy and (I wont spoil anything in the story so you can read this) the entire movie is shot to appear like 1 single take. But if it doesnt win i'm looking forward to whatever does! :)

Davis H

lots of War movies have long takes that inspired Sam Mendes such as even "Come and See", theres a scene when the German Paratroopers (I cant spell how they called it and am too lazy to look it up) come down and start shooting at the main character and theres some really good long takes. Also I just realized that "single take" is in the tittle making my comment almost compleatly redundent. Betrayed by my ADHD again lmao

💙💙🖤🖤ya Camila thanks for all your distractions /reactions

Whenever I vote in one of these polls and the percentages are shown, I always seem to vote for the one that comes dead last. I think I may have a gift! Not a good one admittedly, but a gift nonetheless.

Steve Holton

Hi Grant, thanks for the creative poll idea! 👍

Grant

No probs. I think we all knew it would come down to a choice of two though lol
