I’m writing this comment before I watch the movie. I couldn’t remember if I had seen this before (no dumb joke intended). I haven’t, but I’ve wanted to for a long time. Guy Pearce was having a really good start to his career with this movie and L.A. Confidential (an excellent movie…I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it), then he starred in The Time Machine and his career as a leading man took a hit. The best thing to say about that movie is that it isn’t awful, but it bombed at the box office. He’s still working…a lot, and has appeared in some good movies, but unless I’m completely missing something, never as the lead character. I think this is also the first movie I will see Carrie-Anne Moss star in other than the Matrix movies. I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for giving me a reason to watch it.

I’m writing this after seeing the movie and your reaction. Well, that was convoluted. I’ve seen plenty of movies where the story is told out of sequence (Tarantino does it a lot), but never one told almost entirely in reverse. I’m glad I finally saw this movie. It’s definitely one I think you need to watch more than once. So many things would make much more sense on a second viewing. Insomnia is very good. I’m looking forward to your reaction to that.

The Matrix. Have you seen The Matrix? The trilogy? More? The Matrix redefined action filmmaking and popularized specific VFX styles that set the visual template for sci-fi blockbusters that followed. Yes, and you get more Carrie-Anne Moss (Nathalie) and Joe Pantoliano (Teddy). Oh god, you weren’t alive in 1999, were you?

I haven't, it's been on a few polls but hasn't won yet 😭 I want to see them so bad!

We'll get you there. They are classics. While in grad school, I saw The Matrix in theaters w/ Computer Science PhD students/friends whose minds were blown by the VFX work. And you'll love the production work in the different environments.
