hey y'all! have basically all of you seen the Odyssey by now? I'm trying to avoid hearing too much about it, but I've definitely heard that it lives up to the epic-ness you'd expect from adapting the legendary story. I can't wait til we eventually get to it for the channel! I just wish I had an IMAX theatre at home or something - lol!

I'm planning to hop back into our monthly LIVES next weekend! July just didn't end up quite working out for one. I'm currently leaning towards doing it on Saturday the 1st, but it could end up being Sunday. I'll update y'all later in the week to confirm a time!

we've got a solid variety coming up this week -

tuesday - 1917, the winner of Grant's one-shot poll!

friday - starting season 2 of The Mandalorian! 2x1, 2x2

sunday - more Nolan, with Insomnia!

bonus video will come out Wednesday or Thursday, and possibly a poll at some point as well!

YT edits that I'm working on - Mandalorian 1x5 & 1x6, Blood Diamond, and Thor: The Dark World

stay safe and not too hot and wear your sunscreen out there! ✨

Good Morning, Camilla... I actually have not seen the Odyseey yet. Trying to figure that out for this week; maybe even as early as today! Great line-up this week!

Insomnia is actually top-tier Nolan for me. I think it's one of Pacino's great performances and the scenes between him and Robin Williams are superbly played by both actors. I don't know how highly regarded it is generally, I think it's seen by many as a bit of a stepping-stone between Memento and Batman Begins, but I find it to be a hugely absorbing and satisfying film, and I'd love to see Nolan make another straightforward thriller like this.

Blood Diamond ftw

I’m looking forward to Insomnia. Al Pacino gives a restrained (for him) and haunting performance, and Robin Williams surprises yet again. Hillary Swank shines as well. I saw 1917 once. Other than thinking it was really good and a few scenes, I don’t remember much about it.

I haven’t seen the Odyssey yet, but I really want to. I have seen the Matt Damon screaming meme.

I gave in. I'm gonna watch a 6 am packed screening in Imax 70mm next weekend. When Oppenheimer was released, I gave in after Labor Day and was able to watch in IMax 70mm in a nearly empty 932-seat theater. But it looks like The Odyssey will be packed past Labor Day.

I haven't watched the Odyssey yet. Here in the Netherlands there is no 70mm iMax theater and I am not sure yet if I want to watch it in a (dual) laser iMax theater or (my prefered) Dolby Cinema one.

Blind Entertainment

Haven’t seen the odyssey yet, because my local theater doesn’t have any IMAX screens, and the closest one that does has Ben sold out every day for every showing. Great lineup this week! Excited for 1917 since I’ve suggested it for the spinning wheel a couple times, and it now won the poll!

yea i feel like it’s one of the least i’ve heard about of all of Nolan’s movies - I’m excited to watch it!

Camilla's Corner

hmmm I haven’t seen that! hopefully I can continue to evade it haha!

The original insomnia is a Swedish film with Stellan Skarsgard. Definitely worth checking out.

Bought 2 tickets for The Odyssey 2 weeks ago, and I still have to wait 2 weeks to see it (on a Tuesday @ 2pm). That was when there were still reasonable seats available. But, break out the smallest violins... Here in San Francisco, we are lucky enough to have the AMC Metreon IMAX, which is one of the 45 IMAX 15/70 theaters. Good luck to all finding good tickets on the best screen available!
