It's possible that the entire story takes place in Mary's mind. Mental illness is sometimes passed down through generations. She may be trapped in a prison of her own making. Or, she is just a normal person with an obsession with furniture.

Camilla's Corner

it's fun how open ended it is because there's so many theories that I could be convinced on!

As far as which movie I liked better between "Backrooms" and "Obsession", I liked the latter better. It was more of a character-driven piece and I enjoyed the performances. "Backroom" felt like a nightmarish POV project that puts me in the scene at time, and trying to escape whatever is chasing. This wasn't asked of us but I still liked "Weapons" (2025) as the more fun watchalong. The characters were interesting and the mystery of the disappearance of the children was a slow, satisfying burn. EDIT: I won't spoil it for those who haven't watched "Backrooms" just yet but I recognized the actress who played Kat but the actor who played Bobby looked really familiar but it wasn't until I looked up his IMDb credits that I realized that he was in a recent HBO series.
