I think you'll be surprised at all the places in Superhero movies you might see Danny Elfman pop up on your journey 😉 And yes, " with great power comes great responsibility" is one of the most iconic Spider-man lines in his lore

More live-action Spider-Man: There were a few live-action Spider-Man shows in the 70s. The most famous is “The Amazing Spider-Man” (CBS, 1977–79) with Nicholas Hammond as Peter Parker. Very low-budget, but the first real TV series/pilot movies. No, unless you really fall in love with Spider-Man, no need to watch this. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076975/

Danny Elfman: nope, this isn’t a music review channel but… Elfman was the frontman for the band Oingo Boingo (late 1970s to 1995). They had a new-wave/ska sound with punk energy and horn-driven arrangements, with Elfman's manic vocals and dark, satirical lyrics. Songs often had a theatrical, circus-like quality. Big fan. Best known songs are "Only a Lad," "Weird Science" (the theme for the 1985 John Hughes film), "Dead Man's Party," and "Just Another Day”.

Green Goblin first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #14 (July 1964), created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. He became one of Spider-Man's most enduring villains, central to many of the character's most iconic storylines.

Yep, that was Stan Lee. His cameos ran from 1989 to 2019. He passed in 2018, but some scenes with him had already been filmed.

Sam Raimi's roots in horror, especially the Evil Dead trilogy, leave a clear fingerprint on Spider-Man (2002). Even though it’s a superhero blockbuster at heart, you can feel the influence of Raimi’s low-budget horror background in the visual style and camera language, a sensibility for practical effects, the tone and pacing, and the cast/crew (notably Bruce Campbell).

Happy Wednesday, Camilla. Tobey Maguire is an incredible Spider-Man. I grew up on the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy and I own all three of them on DVD with the first two movies I own in both Widescreen (1.85:1 for SM1 & 2.39:1 for SM2) and Full Screen (1.33:1) formats, with the latter versions (mostly) in open matte. This one is my favorite because of the visual style, especially with the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. And the Green Goblin is the most terrifying villain that Spider-Man fought IMO. Kirsten Dunst's performance as Mary Jane Watson impressed me because in my mind, she's a real scream queen in all three movies.

This was one of my first movies seen in theaters at like age 8 around the same time as attack of the clones. I remember how spooked I was from the jumpscare with Norman remembering where he was the night before. 🫣 Also love the Tobey Macguire spider-man films, especially spider man 2

Sony’s Spider-Man movies with Toby, and Fox’s X-Men movies are largely cited as what set the foundation for the MCU. Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin has also gone down as one of the most iconic marvel villains. Originally the quote "with great power comes great responsibility" was originally a written caption by the narrator. It was later retconned to be a quote by Uncle Ben as a life lesson to Peter. It has since become one of, if not the most famous marvel quotes. You did good getting through the spider scenes! Hope you’re feeling better, and not getting sick.

Fantastic choice for the intro! :) I know a few people who consider Tobey Maguire to be the best Peter Parker and Andrew Garfield to be the best Spider-Man, I'll be interested to see what you think several movies down the road!

interesting distinction between peter and spider-man! we shall seee!

thank you! i haven’t gotten much worse, but also not any better. 😫hopefully today I will be on the rise lol, going to take all the measures I can to hopefully not get worse!

Yeah. His cackles remind me of that of the old peddler woman from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937).
