the winner of Peanut's Cat & Mouse Poll! thanks again to Steve for the very fun idea - what an awesome movie! I hadn't even heard of this one before the poll and boy was this a blast.

The transit cop who got shot by Sykes on the train also played a recurring character as a janitor on the hospital comedy series Scrubs (almost every episode). There’s a fun scene in one episode of that show where the janitor (who’s a pathological liar, but in a fun way), claims he used to be an actor. Nobody believed him, until they see the scene from The Fugitive playing on a television.

Tommy Lee Jones won the 1994 Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for this role

You'll get to see Johnny Pants again in The Matrix someday.

The film was based on a long running TV series of the same name. The finale of that series was one of the highest rated programs of its time. The TV series was originally inspired by “Les Miserables” by Victor Hugo. Specifically, the dogged pursuit of Jean Valjean by Inspector Javert. Less singing in this version, but still worthwhile. Glad you enjoyed it. Interesting prop comments and a great reaction. Thanks! 😊

A great aspect of The Fugitive is that you have a smart cat chasing a smart mouse (or dog -> cat -> mouse in this story). A lot of cat-and-mouse stories have a much smarter mouse and bumbling cats. It’s not clear that the US Marshals made any mistakes in their chase. Kimble was just better and luckier.

Other than the quality of his legal team and defense, I adore this movie.

The killing of Kimble's wife was an incidental accident; Richard was their target, but since he got called in to help with a surgery, Helen was the only one in the house, so she became the unfortunate casualty. And I've read that Jane Lynch's part was supposed to be bigger; her character and Richard were to begin a relationship, but it was ultimately decided that it would be inappropriate for Richard to take a new lover while trying to solve his wife's murder.

The Fugitive (1993) is one of my all-time favorite Harrison Ford movies, alongside Air Force One (1997) & the Indiana Jones movies. I own the original 1997 DVD with the 1.33:1 Full-Screen version on Side A and the 1.85:1 Widescreen version on Side B, the former in open matte. BTW, the woman that believes that Richard Kimble is innocent is Jane Lynch, the voice of Sergeant Calhoun in Wreck-it Ralph (2012) & Coach Sue Sylvester in Glee (2009-2015).

oh I totally see the Les Mis comparison (a story and musical that I love!!) -Richard is totally Val Jean!

I think that was the Julianne Moore character, not the Jane Lynch one
