Thanks for reacting to "The Prestige". I'm glad you looked up the cast to see David Bowie's name after the credits rolled. Bowie appeared in a lesser known film, "Into the Night" (1985), opposite Jeff Goldblum, and was the most charming man ever to threaten one's life. Directors sometimes plan film projects concurrently, due to logistics or other factors. Robert Zemeckis shot the first part of "Cast Away" then worked on "What Lies Beneath", thereby allowing Tom Hanks the time needed to achieve his character's physical characteristics for the latter part of "Cast Away". Both films were released in 2000.

I'm excited for you to edit/rewatch this one! There are SO MANY little breadcrumbs throughout the film once you know what to look for but my favorites are all the way at beginning of the film when Nolan basically tells us exactly what's going on/what's going to happen. First there's the moment when Borden correctly identifies that the old Chinese magician is only pretending to be weak and feeble, even going as far as keeping up the act outside of the show in order to maintain the illusion. Borden can identify with this because he's ALREADY sharing a life with his twin 24/7. The second moment is when the little boy mourns the death of the little bird in the cage, and then being unconsoled by the second bird offered as a replacement, cries out "But where is his brother!?". Correctly identifying that that there were in fact two birds, one of which was sacrificed for the sake of completing the illusion, much like Angier later killing himself night after night in the performance of his ultimate trick. These moments are easily missed on a first watch, but incredible foreshowing in subsequent viewings! And I'm sure you'll catch many more!

The thing about "Into the Night" is that it isn't so much that it's a noteworthy film in itself but that it features a bunch of brief cameos by other directors and L.A. personalities such as: Don Siegel ("Dirty Harry") Amy Heckerling ("Clueless" and "Fast Times at Ridgemont High") Jonathan Demme ("The Silence of the Lambs") Larry Kasdan, screenwriter of ("Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back") Jake Steinfeld, personal trainer and uncle of Hailee Steinfeld Cal Worthington, famous at the time for his TV commercials for his car dealerships EDIT: If I remember correctly, as the end credits roll it shows these folks with their names so you can identify them even if you didn't know what they looked like.

Hope you get to watch American Psycho someday! It’s another great thriller Christian Bale is well known for. Also, Interstellar is pretty great imo
