how do you like this villain compared to the others we've seen so far in the live action spider-man movies?

Thanks for reacting to "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012). Camilla has retained a lot of what she saw in the Tobey Maguire Spidey movies so she's able to compare the two film series very well. I like Rhys Ifan's portrayal of Dr. Connors although I feel that his redemption arc was not quite as well done as Dr. Otto Octavius's arc in "Spider-Man 2" (2004). Coincidentally, actor Rhys Ifan's plays a character named Otto in HBO's "House of the Dragon". Actor Denis Leary is distantly related to former talk show host, Conan O'Brien. They share common Irish immigrant ancestors from several generations back who settled in Massachusetts. The action and fight scenes in this movie are a little more dynamic. I don't know how the visual effects were done (maybe there is a feature on the disc but I've never looked) but I was impressed with the scene where Spidey 'wraps' The Lizard cocoon-like, similar to how some real life spiders wrap their prey.

🎬✧˖°🎞️⊱𝓒𝓪𝓶𝓲𝓵𝓵𝓪⊰≽^•˕•^≼, It's been a while since seeing this one, be fun to refresh my thoughts on it. That said, I have only one particular question and that is will you be watching the live action and animated spider-verse series in the chronological order they came out? I feel its the best way to give the films the due credit for what they did for the Spider-Man franchise in the time they were released. I'm a firm believer to give credit where credit is due to the first piece of media to use certain plot devices and do it extremely well. Hollywood/Disney is known for rehashing ideas if it worked once, in one form of media they gotta do it again rather than being creative and finding other things to explore. I'll add more once I watch this reaction or in a separate post later.

The actors definitely gave it their best, but definitely could’ve used a tighter script. While I don’t know much of the comic lore, I’m glad they went with Gwen Stacy, and didn’t just rehash Peter & MJ. Not sure if you noticed, or remember, but Peter’s professor in the Rami movies was Curt Connors. I don’t know if that was just an Easter egg, or if Rami had story ideas for a future movie with the Lizard. There was a post credit scene, but not sure if it will have anything to do with the next movie. The first half of the movie with all the spiders was definitely a Camilla horror movie. There’s apparently a comic story going on right now where Peter is actually half spider. We can pray Marvel doesn’t adapt that anytime soon! Also funny coincidence that you, and Addie both dropped Spider-Man movie reactions on the same day!

Of all the things I've posted on various channels I don't think I could ever have guessed that this would be the one that provoked hostility.

Camilla's Corner

oh I definitely forgot that he was professor Connors! ah that's fun!

Camilla's Corner

right now I'm focusing on the live action because of the timing of when I'm trying to get to Endgame! but I really want to see the Spiderverse movies

2026-10-11 02:00 I didn’t mean any hostility by it, but sow show some respect. Camilla does work, like most of us, and edits her own patreon, and YT videos. Your comment comes off a bit rude to me.

Ok 🎬✧˖°🎞️⊱𝓒𝓪𝓶𝓲𝓵𝓵𝓪⊰≽^•˕•^≼, I'll join in for the Andrew Garfield ones, catch your take on em. Then, I'll take a hiatus until you get to spider-verse as I'm not too interested in the remaining live actions of Spider-man nor have I developed a interest yet for Endgame. I do wish you a fun filled movie experience and I know you'll bring it in your reactions for those supporters who will be looking forward to those movies, enjoy!

Oooo, did you see the post-credit scene?

Forrest’s Mom: Sally Field Gwen’s dad: Dennis Leary Denis Leary has some great work. My favorite deep cut for him is "The Ref". It would make for a good dark-comedy Christmas movie if you can handle watching Kevin Spacey.

Loved your take on Garfield’s Spider-Man. As you know, this one and the next are really important for your overall journey, so I’m glad you’re watching them. Personally, I didn’t feel this movie added much to the Spider-Man mythos. It rushes through an origin that Tobey’s first movie explored with much more depth, and it seems to assume we already know the story. The Lizard was a cool villain, just a notch below Doc Ock. The swinging and fight scenes borrowed heavily from the Spider-Man games of the time, especially in their cinematic feel, which was fun. “You found my weakness! It’s small knives!” might be the best part of the whole movie.

The next one has an actor who should jump out at you. Excited to see your in-the-moment reaction to the person's role.
