Now taking in consideration of what Fuchs says about preparing your own meals, eating only out of cans. Highly suspicious I'd say, then handing Child's the bottle at the end then laughing when he drinks. ╮ (.ᵕ ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭ 1982, definitely practical effects. I remember hearing something about using green mint bubble gum during Norris's transformation when his head detached. Definitely looked well done.

This is a remake of “The Thing From Another World” (1951), though it is different from that film in significant ways. And a remake of this film is in early development at Blumhouse. But anything with Mac and Windows is bound to be rebooted at some point (Sorry, couldn’t resist).😊

My favorite horror movie of all time! That dog was snubbed for a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Oscars. He was ACTING!

There's also the "The Thing" from 2011. It doesn't really compare to Carpenter's film, but some people find value in it. I actually like it, dodgy CGI aside.

This is not really a remake of 1951 film, it’s a new adaptation of the same book

My favorite horror movie. Probably the peak of practical effects, and just the whole paranoia of not knowing who is who.

This movie was a remake of the ‘50’s movie The Thing From Another World, which was among the slew of monster and alien movies made in that decade. I did see that movie, but remember absolutely nothing about it. This version is often cited on lists of remakes that were better than the original, and considering I don’t remember the original, I’d have to agree, because this version is definitely memorable.
