CIEA archive vol. 2 - wannabe ghost town (Patreon)
Content
i guess the CIEA archive will update on sunday? this chapter originally began on 02/05/2018. that seems to be the most reasonable posting schedule. oh...and the date thing is organized as day/month/year.
it's the debut of the luckas crew.they turned out to be somewhat important, huh. they've also changed a bit...design wise. personality wise, they're still pretty much the same which is nice. consistency is important after all. apparently.we also get to see a small bit of the world of amber through AUSTRAL CITY, the capital of the southern continent of the same name. in retrospect, we've been stuck in this location for 8 years...i want to show the rest of childa's world in the future too. i wonder if i'll even get the chance at this pace, sometimes. i'll go into a bit of detail about it right now, in that sense.
it's an old-fashioned, familiar looking city.i think it's a good introduction to childa's world. i think. i'll say that austral city is an exception and not the norm for how the cities and the world in general will look.generally, it bases it's architecture on the numerous ruins that dot the continent's countryside. i've depicted it a few times in bumper images and other misc. drawings.here's a few examples:
such sights aren't exactly rare. [05/01/2020]
some areas are even turned into national preserves or roadside attractions. [19/12/2023]
another peculiar trademark in the southern continent of austral are it's floating islands.in the 1st chapter's last page spread, you could see a floating island. that too, is dotted all across the southern land like the ruins. there's no real correlation between the two though.what keeps them afloat...? modern scientists have come to a conclusion that it has something to do with the land's unique magnetic field interacting with the giant ore deposits prominent on the undersides of the islands. it doesn't hang in the air 24/7 however; they always sink down to the ground when night passes. it's possible for someone to be stuck on an island for a whole day that way.the consistent schedule of the lands falling and rising makes for the world's loudest alarm clock and clock out for the countryside.
in any case...returning to the talking about the chapter, there's not too much to say. just that it sets up what's happening and to point childa in the right direction to progress. we also do get a glimpse of her family here too via digital news clipping. it's a small family of 4; the father, the mother and the twins. we'll probably see more of the 3 that isn't childa later. probably.
the production of this chapter wrapped up later in the month on 24/05/2018. one chapter completed every month...isn't that nice? if i kept that pace up we would've been in arc 1's end game by now.i love needlessly embellishing and elaborating on things, unfortunately.
