CIEA archive vol. 4 - to resist (Patreon)

CIEA archive time. a chapter with 32 pages, starting on 29/06/2018.yeah.

in case it wasn't clear, childa's not a very good person. not a bad person, but...we like to root for her anyways, right? there's always a lesser evil anyway. i always write how i like, and that includes writing "choice" words. ha ha ha.though...writing wise, i'd handle the altercation between the 4 main characters here differently. i think i'd actually scrap everything and re-write it all.remove some awkward dialogue, showcase some more powers, make childa more childa-like...etc.anyway, speaking of 4...or i guess, 3 of the 4...

it's also the debut of nack, seth, and ellia.hm. they haven't changed much too, have they? they all still act pretty much the same these days. maybe i made seth look more his age. and maybe nack is a little wider.ellia was originally a boy in the original first draft on flipnote. well...initially. that didn't actually make it into the story itself. i made a reference to it for myself when childa mistakes her for a boy in the next chapter.i realized i wanted to draw more girls. so...i turned her into a girl. i like it that way. i don't have any of the original concepts anymore, so i can't show it. you'll just have to take my word for it.nowadays a lot of the new characters i come up with are just girls. (lol) writing wise, ellia's changed a bit. a little more deadpan. that's about it.

in this battle, we see 2 of the 3 energy types in this world.psychic and magic...not too much of it, but it's a thing in this world. i go over it a little more in chapter 6, so i'll talk about it a little more there. i'll just say it's nothing complicated. it's nice to have it there, to level the playing ground for regular people, machines...and monsters like childa.oh, the art for the original flipnote draft looks a little more OK now. so im ok with sharing a few more snippets.

actually, thinking about it...the tone for the flipnote version is a lot more serious.

...and that's about it. it's another action chapter so i don't have a lot to say. well, other than the fact that moving to an actual comic page format lets the action breathe a lot more and is a lot more readable in a way. (at least, it should...but the early chapters can be hard to follow.)

having more space to draw is nice too.

the production of this chapter wrapped up in 08/09/2018. it took roughly 2 months this go around. i think i was going through something at the time. my page production speed was probably slowing down around here too.

it's a sign of things to come. (lol)nothing much has changed since then. eventually i stopped drawing with a mouse and got a drawing tablet as a present, but all that really changed was giving me pen pressure sensitivity. that becomes more apparent either next chapter with a random panel experimenting with line width, or chapter 6 when i decided to stop drawing with a 2px wide brush.

anyways, that's all i've got for this one.
