CIEA archive vol. 5 - freedom fighters (Patreon)

it's CIEA archive time or something. 33 pages or so, starting on 16/08/2018.mmhm.

here, we get to see the rest of the cast...i guess.so it's a "resistance against a tyrant" kind of story, huh. well, i want CIEA to have a plethora of genres and writing tropes with no truly solid throughline...or something. it's a story that always switches depending on what i want. that's what life and adventure is all about, or at least that's what i want out of it....with a constant undercurrent of it's own shonen influences, of course.

there's a focus on the resistance party, but it's mostly about cheri appricotta.she's the first real challenge childa has fought in this story.she hasn't changed much too, has she? i think that can be said with everyone honestly at this point, ignoring design changes. she's still the strait-laced, "nagging big sister of the resistance" type of person.she also showcases that people that aren't childa can achieve similar feats of strength. though cheri of course, is a special case...and childa even moreso for it to be noteworthy amongst the cast.

around this point, i finally reach the end of the first draft of the comic on flipnote...it's a little sad. well, for me. it's just the end of a stretch of time, i suppose.i only got up to the intro part where daniel presses the button to broadcast something. as usual, i'll just share a panel of the thumbnails. i dunno if i'll ever release it...or if i even want too.

misc. writing notes and font changein the event i ever find a font i'm looking for i change it mid-chapter, evidently. the one found on page 113 (page 9 of this chapter) is a more nice looking version of the first font i started with. all mangas seem to use it...so i figured that i should too!!i ended up changing it again to something else that i've been looking for for even longer in chapter 8...lol. i'll elaborate more on that when i get there too.now for writing...actually, i wouldn't change much. this was around the time i was getting to grips with writing CIEA. well, the way i wanted at least. the only changes i would make now is to make childa's thoughts be spoken words instead. she's not the type of girl to think things, methinks.hm...and maybe change how information on childa's father is relayed. oh well. the verbosity isn't the issue for me; it's the information itself. i've always wanted daniel to be a wordy, talkative fellow.

and...yeah. that wraps up chapter 5. it's the turning point of the story, and the true start of CIEA ARC 1, AUSTRAL OVERTURE.

more writing, but still a lot of action seeing as we get to see childa and cheri duke it out.the production of this chapter wrapped up on 14/04/2019.roughly 8 months...for 33 pages? hah. what did i say about me slowing down last time? it's already started, and it's worse than you could've anticipated.. ha ha ha.

on the drawing side, i think this is around the time i started using a drawing tablet. i don't rightly remember. (though it still looks like im using a 2px wide brush here.)maybe i was using a drawing tablet all throughout and for some reason i wasn't using pen pressure sensitivity, but im relatively positive that this is around the time i started using a tablet.

ah well.
