Read the whole thing for details on how I'm considering the effects, for a better chance at your suggestion being chosen. The middle finger that had Will's lifesteal sickle is now empty, and the Stormfists are dwarfed in power by the Coiled serpent amulet, giving us two free finger slots.

The undead servant wand is still useful for their intended purpose, and the ring of accuracy is of middling usefulness in the right situation. (a better ring of accuracy might be on the table.)So! We need 2 Relics that could take the place of the two relics in Phantom Hand that Will has lost or outgrown.Notes: These Relics can and will be custom creations of Sourdough, so they can have multiple effects (2-3) from other rings or weapons, and decent stats, possibly creating an internal synergistic effect that would normally take 2+ soft-set items.

As an Example:

Will bakes a ring with a thorns effect in the ashes of a bunch of lifesteal weapons to create a lifesteal/thorns ring with high stats.Ring of Invigorating Revenge+12 Strength

+8 Acuity

+8 resistance

+15% Thorns

+3% Lifesteal

Once put inside the Phantom Hand, that would look something like this:

Ring of Invigorating Revenge+37 Strength

+8 Acuity

+25 resistance

+47% Thorns

+9% LifestealThe intent for these Relics is to create some kind of Utility that expands his options, so things like healing, summoning, fixing things, messaging over long distances, creating shelter, You name it. anything that is useful and is outside the scope of the current Set Bonus. As for the Sacrifices:Aspect of the Immortal Serpent has 4 upgrade slots left, And Phantom Hand has 6.That's a LOOOOT.

The most obvious one would be to add a faster healing effect to Immortal Serpent, but what eIse could we add?Try to avoid suggestions that would completely cease to be useful if the Family Gathering Set Bonus were ever taken away. Will has lost two fingers in combat, and he is aware that someday the pinky finger (the one with the set item) may get destroyed. That's going to weigh into his decisions when he chooses his upgrades. For how to create the sacrifices:Start with the effect. Say 'Add speedy regeneration to Immortal Serpent'Then suggest a monster that exemplifies that trait:Thornshot octopus: It shoots the thorny tips of its limbs at people and grows them back in seconds. can also regenerate entire arms and organs in minutes. What else you need to know:Floor 7 is jungle monstersFloor 8 is undead.Floor 9 is fae-ish (probably, this one isn't set in stone.)Floor 10 is magical desert. Desert, but magical.See if you can't match your suggestion to something he might encounter in these biomes.Alright, Thanks for reading this far, and have fun! I'll go through this over the weekend and pick out my favorites.

Redcap's [essence]: a sample of a malicious being who's identity revolves around consumption of the unnatural and the fear it beings others Effect: buff the consumption aspect of immortal serpent so will gains temp buffs from monster meat.

Zach Schmidt

If they still have something leftover from the dimensional oyster, maybe some sort demi-plane? I’d imagine the base item as something that gives access to a PHYSICAL dimensional space the size of a small closet, but when combined with Will’s set and phantom hand bonuses, it ends up making an area the size of a small town. Perfect place to hide away squishy allies (which is a weakness Will has noticed he has) while also adding an element of danger as to what would happen if someone destroyed the snake holding that item

ioajfidsnmfomds77

1. William's eidolons eat spirits/souls to grow stronger. Can sacrifice their growth to heal William Monster: Dullahan, undead floor 2. Destroying the head of one of William's serpents creates two new serpent heads for X(Acuity) amount of time Monster: Hydra, Jungle floor

matt

Teleportation/illusions - Aspect Tricksy Sprite - Infamous for never being where you thought they were. Big Punch on next attack - Phantom Hand Silverback Rajang are the undisputed kings of the Jungle, and hit hard enough to punch you back down to floor 6. Temperature Immunity - Aspect Zombie - The dead feel nothing, not heat for cold. - downside of not realizing he's hurt. Immateriality extension to body - Phantom Hand Chunk of Phasite - Much like Dimensional Oysters, Phasite has Spatial properties, and exhibits physical state variability, transitioning between solid, liquid, gas, and plasma states.

Jehru

Kind of a sidegrade for immortal serpent sacrifices. Add a sightbased AOE that resists Poisons and Diseases to Immortal Serpent. Any party members, retainers, and civilians (maybe these for later when Will's more famous) who are close enough and look at Will (or his image later when he's more powerful) are able to resist the affliction based on Will's stats. Kinda riffing on both the biblical stories of the bronze snake healing poisons and the Asclepius symbol. Not useful for will solo, but make its VERY hard to use weaponized biology or diseases against Wills party or town. Especially useful since the Graneshian's seem to be stooping lower with each attempt.

PJ LeBlanc

Malleable Gauntlet - increase resistance of phantom hand to damage. Phantom hand has ghostly armor that can be shaped. (E.g. could be shaped into a horseshoe to send a fireball back the way it came; with the 'corporeality' set bonus, can be used more effectively (e.g. phantom axes to cute down trees, etc. - though Will might eventually simply store various tools that he needs, that feels like a waste of charge.) Monster: Floor 8 - undead. Armor Collector - a few pieces of old climber's gear possessed by a ghost. Has the ability to reshape the gear to add new Relics it finds over time. A roaming / storied boss could be a particularly old Collector that has amassed an unreasonable number of Relics, that Will is able to pick away at a few Keystone relics that make it near impossible to fight for others.

Cyrus McEnnis

Ok. So a few questions before I make some ludicrous suggestions. First up - is Will able to make sets _relatively_ easily? I'm not talking about the Gathering level of power, but the way the Hand of Oh counts set items that it consumes, ever if he never wears another of the set pieces (in fact, doing them as 7 piece sets and giving the other 6 to party members would be fairly sensible) it's a fairly obvious exponential power modifier. Will eats relics and craps sets would be a good rumor as well, especially if you want to paint an even bigger target on his back for narrative reasons. Secondly, is Will focusing on himself, the party, his domain, or all of the above with these items? Do 2Hers inherently have better stats than 1Hers? If they do Will might want to focus on 2Her weapons for his finger slots to get the most benefit from them. Lastly, do you want us to take into account Will's floating slots? By my reckoning he has 2 Rings + Amulet that need to be filled, and arguably could use another slot with a non-Gathering item in it to potentially get the usual 6-peice bonus + a separate 4-peice lesser set bonus if he wanted to get all min-maxing about things.

Thomas Issa

Currently Aspect of the immortal serpent serves two functions 1. Improves survivability This is done with his perfect healing, ability to eat whatever, and his adaptability to the environment 2. The domain ability This is covered in how his hands and feet can warp matter and space partially to make handholds, but also for generalised reality warping This survivalist ability has much more potency since his set empowers the ability by 50 times, and is shared by his eidolons I would first sacrifice a vine/tentacle monster that can grab with any part of his body, specifically so that Will and all of his eidolons have spheres of influence, regardless of anatomy, and allows for defense, offence and control at all angles Next upgrade should be from a vampiric monster, specifically to gain a tiny lifesteal percentage, which combined with Will’s perfect healing, will improve survivability and allow the eidolons to repair themselves by inflicting damage, allowing them to last a lot longer Finally, something cool but not necessary would be a frost fire monster to give temperature regulation, which sounds stupid, except that being able to straight up alter temperature in his domain would give rise to a bunch of fire and ice attacks

Pseudo

An ape sacrifice from the jungle(don’t have a name.) When used on phantom hand, allows the user to spend charge to create a concussive blast. Triggers on impact from a body part (scales in some way, like from the force of the impact.) Temporary immunity from the blast. Could synergize really well with on damage effect relics like the Sickle of Cold Harvest. Allows for better control and damage

Thomas Issa

I really like this idea, but only after Will adds lifesteal to the ability, that way Will would technically be consuming anything he harms, and the eidolons (especially the eyes), would temporarily transform a bit with the transformations stacking when they inflict harm

Vinohr

Grant a duplication effect to phantom hand storage The ceaseless swarm: a single individual that can split into many and reconstitute from any.

Cyrus McEnnis

First up - items we already know about that probably aren't going to be fisted but are potentially too useful to ignore. - Mantle of the Yawning Forge from the 4th floor that gave Will a flaming hand, Alicia the seeking fire arrows, and Loth the ability to mind control followers into being safe, fed, and horny. This might well, in Loth's little claws, be a way to keep the followers in line. If not we've not seen another item like that other than the masks, and it might be really fun to synergise with the Gathering. - Amulet of the Homefield Advantage. I've said before, Climbers think of synergies. Lords, Lords think of logistics. There are reasons why you might decide it's not suitable to produce terrain that's fit for human consumption, but water is a terrain. Strawberry fields are possibly terrain. Hell, Roc-flesh is arguably a terrain if you can stand on a hunk of it. And Will running a franchise of "Leftenant Loth's Akul Fried Roc" eateries would be an excellent way to draw other Climbers and their resources into his demense.

Forint

For a sacrifice, swap place with phantom hand, no brainer ability for someone like him. Sacrifice from some ambush predator, dimensional spider or shadow cat or something. Also a no brainer, more hands. He can have a 1000 eyes, no reason he can't have more hands. Bluegrass Starfish or something. For immortal serpent, some chameleon/cephalopod type ability for optical camo, but in a way that it's used actively. Some general adaptation abilities would fit really well in the class too. Something like, going to the ice floor will change him physiologically to be able to survive better there. Kinda like how Sherpa's are basically built for climbing.

Garrett Therkorn

1. People can imbibe William Oh's blood to get the healing benefits of Aspect Of The Immortal Serpent for a time. Sacrifice: Ningyo, from the 9th floor. If his blood can be used to make regeneration potions, well. Sourdough lets him turn his blood into customizable consumables, that he can regenerate with Sourdough. If that's not Lordly, what is? 2. Ring of Increasing Might 1 charge: User gets 20% haste Whenever the user deals damage to a target, gain (Res/100)% of that target's strength for 10 seconds (stacks). 3. When the Phantom Hand would disrupt an effect, it can now hold the effect inside of itself instead. Space taken scales on Focus of original user and and charges used. Stockpile some luck from Jason or some enemy nuker effects. Fun dynamic with his build, in that he gets limited restocks of enemy abilities, and needs to play inventory management. Sacrifice: Spell-Eating Gibbous, 7th floor.

A

Phantom Hand relics: Blade of Merciful Aggression - a lifesteal effect that splits healing received from the lifesteal effect across Party members and/or allies within range instead of the wearer. - a healing effect that heals the wearer for a portion of any amount they heal someone else (including from this item's lifesteal effects). Ring of the Relentless Cockatrice - Small chance to paralyze enemies when looking at them (can be used in conjunction with Phantom Eye). - Gain a small increase to attack speed and damage that progressively scales the longer one remains in combat

Exrotes

Relic Ideas Jungle Floor Cloak of the Vibrant Flock - adds a mild hypnotic effect to the user's Eidolons (switchout to take on anyone/anything that can see the hands/serpents) Undead Floor Wand of the Ghastly Composer (dropped by an undead musician) - Spend charge to fill an area with awful music that the wielders allies can't hear, hinders communication and applies a debuff to Focus and Acuity (Obvious Synergy of bigger area and going from mildly distracting to front row at a terrible Jazz show and bake in any kind of damaging effect so the music is also physically painful to give Will a dot effect on all enemies) Fae Floor Cuirass of the Winter Court - Surrounds the wielder in a small aura of cold, protects the user from cold, can spend charge to apply a minor hoarfrost effect to enemies in the aura, regain charge by slaying enemies affected by Hoarfrost (original relic has horrible diminishing returns on recovery that turns into obscene fuel for Will) Desert Floor Muffler of the Buzzard - Lifesteal, Consuming food slowly heals wounds, spend charge to make party members aware of the wielders location or the location of a point of interest (vulture circling food kinda deal but also letting Will pull an Elder Scrolls and eat a cheese wheel to cure stab wounds.)

Achis74

The middle finger must be a fuck you kind of way like it needs to piss people of so I suggest that at the ninth floor he will get like a mask or a Jack-in-the-box with surprise effect like delibird from Pokemon and with sourdough he can decide if it heals or damages a person damage scales with kinetic and Heal with Acuity? For the other finger it should be like an arrow that will follow you

PJ LeBlanc

Immortal Serpent: > Fae Step / Spatial warping (similar to what the Mask used to do in dragon form). Widening the space between two attacks, shrinking the distance to a punch, etc. on command. Small effect (1mm/2Acu) in exchange for being a cantrip. Monster: A fae trickster that teleports between mushroom rings or an antlion in the desert that hides in dimensional folds/cones rather than physical ones.

Ashlynn & William Elmore

Fae floor can be an arch fea like a raid boss but an intelligent one. It can be a synergy with his tomahawk. Something that lets him gain some health( increasing his max not healing) based on the amount of deals or packs he has active. This will make it so that he can go full tank if he has made enough deals. And no idea past that love the work

Chase H

Floor 8 ghost giant or zombie giant or sum that makes eidolons gigantified, which would hopefully have a side effect of upgrading the size of his storage while giving him some badass Basilisk size phantom snakes.

PJ LeBlanc

Immortal Serpent: Leaning in to 'Immortal Serpent = Ourobouros = Quetzalcoatl', who was known for shapeshifting al a Zeus. Give Will the ability to change his features, warp his form (shrink his ribs to take a punch, etc.), add snake-like features (scales) on command, and if you wanted to go crazy, transform into a snake for sneakiness shenanigans (that feels to me like possibly too much for one sacrifice though?) There would also be lots of opportunities for thirsty Loth commentary. Monster: a Chameleon monster in the jungle that mimics various plant life or even party members.

RedeyeA

I thought that to perfect the healing of Aspect of the Serpent, Will should add the other spawn of Ouroboros as sacrifices. The hydra would be for speed because speedy regeneration is a classic trait of a hydra. I think the axolotl would be for regenerating things "as they were". Axolotls in real life regenerate because that is a trait of many amphibians when they are nymphs. Axolotls never properly go through their metamorphosis, so they keep that trait for the entirety of their lives. The sacrifice would give Will the ability to set a point to regenerate back to, allowing biological immortality. When he has the set bonus, this would let him regenerate fingers to keep their items in them even if they are completely destroyed. Finally, Will would want to get a sacrifice to apply aspect of the serpent to his hand without relying on the set bonus. I think this would be a Phantom Hand sacrifice. Maybe a dullahan. Dullahans are undead with a disembodied body part that is still connected to them (their head). The sacrifice would allow the hand to count as a part of Will's body for abilities and buffs. Maybe it would also let things like healing potions work on the hand.

Chase H

Also some sort of sacrifice that allows Aspect of The Immortal Serpent to affect eidolons so that destruction of a finger doesn't erase its content. Or maybe just something that makes him super durable and then that effect can get applied to his eidolons through the set bonus with 2 pieces. Something from floor 10 like a Desert World Tortoise would be cool

Enzo Elacqua

Affliction Shedding: lets him shed his skin like a snake which will get rid of any afflictions/blessings affecting him once a day, which in turn create perfect sourdough resources, gives him a free escape from esoteric attacks, and gives him a renewable source of powerful consumables. Comes from an Undying Killable Salamander which every time it dies gathers a new absolute resistance to the effect that killed it. Resistances lasts for a year, and are stackable. Found in the 8th floor as a pet to some of the smarter undead bosses there who use it as cannon fodder against climbers.

Tsurani

When did I miss him losing two fingers? Or are we talking about from the phantom hand/serpent finger that was lost in the fight to reclaim his set?

Farxzay

Will already sacrificed an Axolotl, but I do think the Dullahan idea sounds great.

Ashlynn & William Elmore

Now this is needed soooo bad he needs a way to not lose a snake ie an item. I know the author said he wasn't because he may lost the amulet and I know a checkofs gun when I see one. But honestly that is in my eyes his biggest weekness. If he can stop from permanently losing items that will seal up his biggest weekness.

RedeyeA

What did the Axolotl give him? I thought it was the immortal serpent that gave the completeness of healing, and that was the only sacrifice for the Aspect ability so far. Edit: Wait, maybe it was the immortal serpent for completeness and the axolotl for applying to absent limbs and organs. He would need something else for regenerating lost finger items then.

Nate Hada

Ability/sacrifice Affect: flexible permeability of stabilized substances Sacrifice: either an undead beast that keeps the rotting collection of corpses from fully decomposing or a fae that keeps their victims in a perpetual dance What Will could do with it: I could imagine it allowing certain items or teammates through a shield or stabilized air, allowing will to make solidified air not permeable by light (ie opaque), he could learn to mess with refraction, he could make the ground not support enemies, I guess he could walk through walls? Depending on his ability to make solids more permeable it could be very OP. Maybe it’s he can make things 50% less solid up to fully stabilized. I still can’t walk through a wall that’s 50% less solid but it sure would mess up my footing if ground randomly turned ‘muddy’

Farxzay

How about a Phantom Hand upgrade that gives Will the ability to reflect spell effects, for an amount of charge equal to what was used by the caster? It could let him lean more into his counterspelling ability, and give him more of a counter to Nukers and debuffers. Plus, it would help prevent his fingers from being destroyed. The sacrifice would come from a fairy that has spell reflection abilities, can’t think of a name for it yet. Maybe something lake or water themed?

Mojr

- Remove/shorten the Phantom Hand cooldown to allow switching back to already 'used' fingers mid combat: Currently whenever Will switches away from a finger he experiences pain and the finger shrivels. Sacrifice: Mummy, just like a Mummy's body, the Phantom Hand has been magically treated/changed to withstand damage, allowing rapid switching between fingers. or alternatively Sacrifice: Caladrius, a Caladrius is a bird with healing powers (sometimes found in an oasis), allowing the Phantom's fingers to rapidly regain their strength - Add physical interaction capability to Phantom Hand (it already can, but only because of items, which is risky and it can only make it's ability to interact stronger) Sacrifice: the Poltergeist, a type of ghost that can damage / interact with the physical world. - Add speedy regeneration to Immortal Serpent Sacrifice: a Troll, Trolls can regenerate entire limbs, their head, anything, as long as they have enough resources stored in their body. (This could add a soft cooldown to the regen and would motivate Will his Immortal Serpent boosted digestion to eat a lot of random stuff in the surroundings to keep up his regen) - Add a second hand to Phantom Hand (seems a bit OP, but had to suggest it. It is a max rarity ability with 9 upgrade slots afterall) Sacrifice: Will's other hand (the best I could come up with. Maybe a fae sacrifice would work better?) - Add the ability to swap places with / travel to the Phantom Hand Sacrifice: a Dullahan (fae), a Dullahan is a headless rider, that gallops across the Feywilds to quickly to the distant places it's magical head can see. (Like it, you can now travel to the place of your magical appendage)

TVR

Strangler vine: This vine forms a massive network on the jungle floor and strangles animals above a certain size to absorb their nutrients. It has a symbiotic relationship with insects, which eat the carcasses and help break them down in nutrients.Only destroying the root of the plant kills it, which is protected by massive swarms of insects. Sacrifice Strangler vine root for sourdough: sourdough can now be applied to seeds and sapling to improve the plants based on the relic dust used with a small chance to mutate the plants. Sacrifice for trap users/carpenters: spend charge to change strength/flexibity of plantmatter.

Gui Joāo

Sacrifice to Aspect - something like a Fenix or a Shedding lizard, overall gives a point of "free" revive each time he enters new floor, stackable. The Fenix sacrifice will put Will inside a giant egg where he will spend some time reviving while the shedding lizard he Will simply left a old husk of fresh behind and be back alive with a shiny and glossy skin (would be funny to see Will with a baby skin)

RedeyeA

Time crystals have patterns that repeat through time. A time crystal golem for the Phantom Hand would let a finger revert to previous iterations of items. This would drastically expand the relic storage of the fingers, so it would be best for there to be a pretty harsh limit. Maybe it is a manual one to one rewind and a downtime afterwards. If Will wanted to switch to a relic he had slotted in a finger a month ago, he would have to rewind for a month. Then there would be the current one week downtime for overwriting a finger. If Will regretted a relic choice or knew he would need something he threw away a few months in advance, he could get it, but it would be very impractical to juggle relics to effectively have more slots. However, this would let what would otherwise be a destroyed item to be fixed in double the time it takes to regenerate the finger plus a week. Edit: the time crystal golems would be in the desert floor and have elemental powers based on the season. They would all be synched and change where the seasons once were, but in reverse order. Will would have no concept of seasons because of the tower, so Loth would have to explain it to him. People on that floor and maybe in the whole tower would calibrate their calendars based off of when the golems complete a cycle.

Relic idea snake charm is flute create a phantom copy of all snakes

kfir with a כ

How about a lich sacrifice so that the fingers (and relics within) can never truly be destroyed, kinda has overlap with immortal serpent, but it seems weird to me that with all of will's talk about sacrifices being used to negate weaknesses, that he wouldn't negate the possibility of losing his most important relic.

kfir with a כ

He already has short range teleportation from the amulet in his hand though...

kfir with a כ

A sacrifice for Aspect from an unaging, unchanging fae, that makes the changes caused by Aspect to be permanent for charge. I like the idea of Will literally carving a path for other climbers through the tower. It will gain him massive support amongst climbers, will help fight against the tower, and will massively ease logistics.

Ano Ano

If Will wants to maybe upgrade to aspect of the uru drake someday, he needs to keep one of his primary upgrades open.

Kyse

I wonder if there could be an undead sacrifice that stops killing blows in exchange for permanently losing a random finger on his phantom hand, basically giving him 5 chances to avoid instant/certain death but still having a very heavy cost to it.

Cyrus McEnnis

Next up: quick review of existing slots and roles they fill. Will's party currently has two big areas of deficiency: healing / cleansing, and close combat. Will himself has Sniping / Crowd Control loaded with the mutated Ring of Accuracy. This is somewhat replaced by the Snakes of Oh from the set: they provide quite good CC but the nice thing about the ring is it's an on hit effect which means it scales very rapidly with the number of projectiles that Will can launch as shown recently against the Graneshons. This could be replaced with another ring of accuracy with a different CC ability, although you either want it to be AOE or on hit for it to be an upgrade. Maybe a Ring of Accurate Hypnosis, +7 Acuity +7 Focus +7 Resistance 33% Chance to hypnotize on hit, 3 degrees of Accuracy. Neck Romancy Wand. I'd classify this as Utility / Summoning. I love the boys, but there's no denying a tonne of what they do could now be done by the Snakes. But if the Storm Fists are on the chopping block, this probably should be as well. Not sure what exact item to go for, but it would be fun if it summoned cute fae bakers. Specifically, male ones >.> OP Amulet. No way this gets replaced, but it provides mobility + burst damage.

kfir with a כ

This will cost charge of course, and can be dismissed. It could also be used in combat to make an opponent run into barriers, or to get them to rely on it only to dismiss it beneath their legs.

Cyrus McEnnis

So, desirable items for Finger slots: The obvious one is something to protect his other slots, specifically his Amulet, from being destroyed. Probably would give some tanking utility as well from a taunt perspective. Accordingly: Ablative Shield. +14 Resistance +14 Strength Can transfer damage from body part / person to another body part / person. Can be sacrificed to stop an item from being destroyed. If this is an item that can be crafted / farmed Will might want a stash of them. Next obvious one is Healing / Cleansing. This is a big hole in the current team composition, and Will needs a healing ability after loosing the lifesteal. It'd be fun, thematically, if Will baked a Holy Symbol of Granesh and turned it into The Ring of Oh. +8 Focus +8 Acuity +8 Resistance. Variable charge - heal a wound from target. Can not replace missing organs or limbs, but can regrow minor damage. 5 charge - remove one disease or toxin from target Will has always wanted an AoE attack. And my favorite AoE is Corpse Explosion. And it'd be nice if it gave a debuff as well. Sooooo: Fetish of the Exploding Goat. +8 Strength +8 Kinesthetic +8 Focus. 10 charge: explode a corpse dealing damage proportional to it's size. Explosion causes a mismatic cloud to envelop an area proportional to the explosion size. Cloud causes retching of within it. Anything that dies within the cloud before it disperses also explodes. Almost lastly: the other hole in the team is close combat. Yes, sure, Anna. But other than that the Party of Oh has plenty of CC, a cornucopia of ranged options, and an insane amount of utility. But they lack a close combat specialist. Replacing the Stomzy Fistz with a "chain lightning" effect could be fun, especially if the lightning can potentially arc between Will and a single target. If that seems too similar to the Storm Punch, maybe a gravitic manipulation melee attack that causes the impacted body part / armor to increase weight might be something that's usually minor but in Will's fists devastating. Possibly nice to have but I'm not going into details: Some sort of Social Ability that increases Wills ability to lead. Be it some form of mind control, bardic inspiration, or sheer warlockian charisma.

Ashlynn & William Elmore

This is very similar to what somebody else said and I do agree that this is the most important weakness he needs to get rid of a lich sacrifice or a hydro sacrifice for the jungle floor could resolve this because losing his legendary set feels like something that just shouldn't happen in this story

Gibby

Tiny hammer like fix it Felix from wreck it Ralph Hammer of Snaring Inorganic objects/substances struck by the wielder are held in place for a short period. Does not work on objects that are worn or carried. Scales with resistance(?). Effected substances have increased durability for the duration. When combined with aspect it would allow Will to freeze pillars in place even after he left them. With family gathering this would let him create static shields and other obstacles with each finger before having them continue on for however long thanks to scaling. Inspired by the ring of snaring.

kfir with a כ

The set already gives this bonus, he can choose to transfer a wound to a finger or it happens automatically for lethal wounds

kfir with a כ

Yeah and i would rather there be an in world reason than plot armor. I saw that other comment after i wrote this, but i feel like a lich is such a classic he has to have something from it

Gibby

Sacrifice for hand. A lich/magic undead or some sort of fairy known for stealing or trickery. Allows phantom hand to store spells. They take up an amount of space equal to spell charge cost x in³.

Cyrus McEnnis

Skill Upgrades: Phantom Hand Replication. Small, simple objects stored on the Hand may be replicated. Would allow Will to spit out nails, needles, simple cooking implements, maybe even things as complex as hinges or trap mechanisms without taking up a lot of space. Probably needs to have a charge / volume cost to keep it balanced, even though it might well count as a cantrip usually. Probably some sort of Fae sacrifice, maybe a Brownie Cap or an elven interior decorator's finger. Immortal Serpent Molt. Shed skin to increase self regeneration speed at the cost of loosing resistance (temporarily or permanently). Skin of a Boomslag Snake, a jungle creature that explodes when horny. And around Will? They're going to be really horny & real explodey. Poisonous Bite. Attacks with fangs (possibly including set bonus sneks) inflict a necrotic toxin. Fangs of a Rotting Ghoul Python, a jungle undead snake. When the time comes for Sourdough upgrades: should lean hard into Relic / Set production. Increasing effectiveness would be key - reducing time would be useful but not necessary especially if it caused a drop in quality. Perhaps the best thing would be a way of nudging stats around - keeping the total number of stats the same, but being able to for example shift a point of Resistance to Acuity might be very useful in tailoring Relics / Sets to requirements without breaking Will more than he already is. Possible sacrifice for this - rattle from a variable adder, a desert snek.

Cyrus McEnnis

My personal favorite builds all use lifesteal as a way to stop myself from dying, but leaning into that again might make Wills build too static and similar to Mark's. But it's worth calling it out for sheer effectiveness - replacing the Ablative Shield described above with something similar but with lifesteal rather than damage transfer abilities might be a really sensible if boring option for Will to take. Note- it also might be best for Will to have an item that prevents item destruction outside of the Phantom Hand slots so that it permanently protects the Amulet rather than counting on swapping to the Shield when the Sneks are at risk.

Oxika95's Patreon Reading History

Floor 7 Jungle Biome monster, some kinda serpent. Adds a molting ability to aspect of the immortal serpent that uses charges to molt, synergy with the healing effect to cause burst heal. Might be interesting if each molt causes subtle physical changes to cause will to be a little more snake like. "Do his pupils look a little more verticaly slited to you?" Maybe a little bit of skin scaling.

Gibby

Earth Stompers Increases the impact on the wearer when striking a solid surface. This force is spread out in a larger area. (A normal climber would be able to kick a tree, door, anything and break it easier. Stomp the ground and create a massive crater.) For Will, this could give his ripples force behind them for offense and would be extremely easy to use since he would always find good Footing to use them more.

Patrick

Place swapping with the phantom hand would be awesome! And in Will's hands absolutely ridiculous.

LifeOfConfusion

I like the regeneration, but instead of a troll he uses a hydra for greater reptilian synergy( plus it fits with the jungle floor), maybe also to sourdough to speed up effects or reduce how much he needs to regrow relics

LifeOfConfusion

I agree with the chamelion, but instead adds a toggle able stealth effect

Mojr

Sourdough can't be upgraded anymore. I avoided the Hydra because they already encountered one as a boss previously, and that one wasn't a good ability match. (Plus it's cliche) It's entirely possible it'll still be a Hydra though

Mojr

A 2nd hand that can store single-use spells (instead of the current permanent relics)

LifeOfConfusion

Octopus’s gloves. Just like an octopus has brains in each limb, gives his eidolons autonomy (or if they already have it greater intelligence). Most of his eidolons already have intelligence, however his eyes don’t.

Mojr

A 2nd hand for phantom hand that can absorb spells (for charge) and use those (once) at a time of choosing

Mojr

The phantom finger. It regrows, but the relic in it is lost

Mojr

I also had a Dullahan as idea, but then for travel (read: teleportation) towards his Phantom Hand, the same way a Dullahan travels trough the Feywilds towards a place his magical head can see

Crispined Glover Potato Snacks

For the relics Will would probably get something that would be a good counter to Caddock since he barely escaped their last meeting. Maybe something like "The Misericorde of Precise Annihilation". A pointed dagger that excels at bypassing Resistant and applies Necrotic DOT. Plusses to acuity, Kinesthetics and Resistance.

Crispined Glover Potato Snacks

For the sacrifices one that does retaliatory lightning damage and pulls aggro twoard him or one of his fingers/snakes. "Will-o-Wisp Fulgurite", a Will-o-Wisp frozen in crystal.

Crispined Glover Potato Snacks

Just for fun I thought of something for Alicia: a sacrifice that applies a paralyzing effect to her witch eye vision. "Gorgon's Bangs". A hair strand that is also a snake.

Ring of the Psychic Vampire: Stats can be whatever Base effects: Lifesteal 3-4% Psychic damage bounces up to 1 time to an additional target within 3 meters. Hand effects: Lifesteal 9-12% Psychic damage bounces up to 3 times to an additional target within 9 meters. Basically if he’s fighting 2 enemies and hits 1 with psychic damage, he can hit them both and his first target twice. And if he uses an aoe psychic attack it would triple the damage due to all the bouncing(some might take more or less damage due to distance and bounce chaining)

Rose-crown of the fairy prince Every deal struck with a non-ally is tilted infinitesimally(increased when absorbed into phantom hand of course) in your favor. So if Will agrees to a truce to loot a castle with an enemy party, some twist of fate might mean Will happens upon the most valuable treasure first, or 50 ivory for a cow might become 47 when nobody is looking. Combos with the tomahawk’s ability to enforce agreements

Morgwath

To finalize Wills build it would be nice if he sacrificed a hand of his father. Everything coming full circle.

Don

Relic Coppicing: allows for possible regrowth of last relic ability in finger for variable charge based on how long ago finger was destroyed and cannot load new relic into slot until ability has regrown fully From Relic Ent a truly rare Ent or living tree that is born on the 7th floor that is thought to come alive when enough relics are left under a certain tree and left untouched for who knows how long, it is highly valued alive than dead because if caught can be replanted in relic dust to mimic said relic in it's branches...is extremely deadly and will use myriad of relic like ability in branches offensively *The process of deliberately cutting a tree to a stump to regrow is known as coppicing*

Jack

Grants Phantom Hand the ability to devour the warmth around it in a small radius, applying a slowing debuff (similar to hoarfrost). Costs 3 charges. Scales with Focus. May be acquired on the 8th floor by sacrificing the frozen heart of a Yuki-Onna, a frost spirit in the form of a beautiful woman.

im Panda

Also the molts are autonomous and fight like will without the set or items in his phantom hand because why not

Add scaling shapeshifting ability to Aspect of Immortal Serpent. - Doppelganger: one of the more insidious dangers of the 9th floor, a doppelganger will pick off one of the weaker members of your expedition in order to devour them and take on their form. They will then opportunistically pick off successive expedition members until it is discovered and driven off or killed. Allow Phantom Hand to store intercepted spells the same way it does physical objects. - Demi-lich: a dangerous undead spell caster, these floating skulls are capable of casting a variety of spells, curses, and wards in combat. Add disease, poison, corruption, and necrotic resistance to Immortal Serpent. - Greater Corruption Zombie: a giant zombie that breathes poison, emits a necrotic aura, and can inflict a variety of debilitating and deadly diseases with a touch. Add life-drain to Phantom Hand. - Wraith Lord: typically found commanding a small army of lesser wraiths, shades, banshees, and other spectral undead. In addition to commanding its ghostly forces, the Wraith Lord is able to rapidly drain the life of anyone it touches.

Tobias Shim

Lenses of the distorted view. Creates a distortion like a heat mirage which makes the user or weapon appear in a different position than they actually are. Example. Will strikes with his tomahawk, the enemy blocks the strike, but what they were actually blocking was the mirage and the real tomahawk comes in lower.

Redc05

Immortal serpent upgrade idea: What doesn't kill you, makes you fat: Gain resistence to poisons you ingest. And/Or: Destill ingested chemicals into concentrated poison, damage type and amount dependent on what is consumed and consentration. Concentration and maximum possible resistence scale with resilience. (Eating more of the poison makes the resistence grow until a maximum amount) Sacrifice: Putrit Glutton A monster on the undead floor that eats toxic/rooten things and transforms them into acidic/poisoness bile that it uses to attack. As a result it also as a toxic breath.

Macronomicon

I like the wand. might make it some kind of haunted flute or something, but still. nice effect.

Macronomicon

how about an ability that can create temporary phantoms of held items?

Macronomicon

no, he can't make sets very easily. They require a huge amount of critters with similar ash combined on a nascent Key Site. There also has to be a narrative connection between the critter's ash. Can't just murder 1000 starfish and make a set, because those starfish don't have a compelling story behind them. But if you found a village of dead sapient monsters who died cursing the name of the dragon who killed them...then you might get a set.

Macronomicon

how about a chain lightning effect combined with a gravity effect that draws them towards each other as it bounces between creatures, then does a final hit of lightning based on the number of enemies clustered together?

Vinohr

That also works, though it could be interesting if which one is the phantom is variable. Throwing a phantom item and then having that one become the real one could be interesting

Macronomicon

Scaffolding Hammer? people could use it to set up scaffolding while building things.

Gibby

Yeah. That's close to what I imagined people using it for.

God

I think poison would be good to help deal with his low strength

Cyrus McEnnis

Now that's thinking with portals! Re: Set production. Good to see it's restricted. Hopefully no one else works out how it works or I can see Will's future stronghold being targeted to force him to make an Anti-Oh set.

Don

Words like cantrip exist so I assume constant charge abilities are sorta like concentration so maybe something like Hive mentality: for constant charge scaling on target focus on minimum 2 fingers and benefit from all targets abilities while charge lasts once used all targeted fingers will be on cool down and cannot be used for could vary depending on how severe you'd want it. Personally find this a good Nova option since he's lacking a real sure kill option he can bust so would lean on normal down time of switching fingers Comes from Uni mind ant Queen a creature who's whole colony moves in perfect unison under Queens control. Will form colony into humanoid body when provoked or hunting prey the greater the colony the bigger the body also known for potent mental attacks and manipulation.

Ashlynn & William Elmore

I agree but it shouldn't be a normal lich that just doesn't feel like William oh.

Macronomicon

for items or abilities that have an upkeep requirement, it manifests as a Focus penalty, usually in units of 7. 7 focus=1 Charge per day. I'm not really sure what you meant by that ability. I'm having a hard time understanding the meaning.

Don

Aww makes sense! and the ability was just to allow for limited time of using multiple finger slots at the same time and the cost it'd be a scaling focus penalty based on the number of fingers and what relic slot they have for the cost. Or if you meant the ants it's just the thought they'd all come together to make basically a giant ant mech controlled by the queen based off the idea that some ants will build bridges and boats out of their body for random purposes

Don

Great hope was helpful

ppbrro

Allows the usage of a relic from a destroyed finger for a short amount of time. Maybe a sacrifice from a monster that uses realistic mirages from the desert floor.

ppbrro

From the ninth floor, for aspect of the goat: Will can now - over long periods of time - eat curses. From a fae goat that eats magic

Command

Immortal Serpent Suggestion: Sacrifice: Quantum Quetzalcoatl (Name just sounds cool) - An incredible rare feathered serpent that is known for its defensive capabilities. Its scales have a time dilation effect that slows the inertia of objects impacting it while accelerating localized time around its wounds. Effect for Will: In addition to his terrain effect, it now extends to the inertia his body is subjected to. He can marginally control it. His wounds heal significantly faster due to time dilation.

BonusWellSpent

Phantom hand sacrifice: Allows Will to control the visibility of the hand and gives the ability to spend 1 charge to create an illusory copy of the hand that can be controlled. Sacrifice: Giant Afterimage Chameleon, hunts by hiding using natural camouflage and distracting prey with illusions of itself.

BonusWellSpent

Higher acuity people were able to detect the hand even while incorporeal so this gives Will the opportunity to feint and dristract them.

BonusWellSpent

Phantom hand sacrifice: The hand can be given a command together with a trigger condition. Once the trigger condition occurs the hand immediately attempts to fulfill the command to the best of its ability. Number and complexity of commands and triggers scale based on (uncertain probably focus or acuity makes the most sense). Sacrifice: Guardian Golem Core: powerful enchanted golem created by high level artificers. Able to follow simple orders, but follows orders literally. If told to guard a treasure vault, it will stand inert as all the treasure is stolen as long as the vault itself is not damaged or moved.

BonusWellSpent

One of the weaknesses of the hand is that it requires a lot of attention and focus to control during combat. Especially now that will practically has five of them this would allow him to focus more on himself while still using the hand to most of its potential.

Redc05

Yes, but will as a lot of those right now, he, without training, controled all 5 fingers as well as a metric f ton of eyes, i don't know if that is a problem

Redc05

Phantom hand upgrade: Extra fingers, the hand gains 5 extra fingers, space inside and goes up acordingly. Sacrifice: Five Headed Snap Root, jungle floor, a monster that lices under ground in between the roots of the trees, really hard to locate and feeds mainly on dead adventurers or if it is desperate wounded ones. It is also known to marginaly help other monsters in battle in unseen and mysterious ways

Patron1kj6tz

Phantom Hand upgrade: Can expend 1 Charge to instantly refresh a slot on cool-down. Repeated use of this ability within a 24 hour period increases the cost by 1 Charge. Ex: Using Undead Retainer for something important, get into fight, instead of deciding if he should lose access for the day he can spend 1 Charge to swap to whatever then 2Charge to switch back. Sacrifice: Clockwork Sprite: A fae creature that creates areas of accelerated or slowed time.

Patron1kj6tz

Clockwork Sprite could also upgrade Aspect to allow him to accelerate time around himself. To avoid being too overpowered could be limited to only accelerating his perception instead of physical speed? Unless it has a significant charge cost, then it could be an ace in the hole/speed-blitz assassination/incapacitation option. Edit: Option 2: If Clockwork Sprites use accelerated time fields to recover faster could use this upgrade for physical regeneration speed bonus. Not Charge recovery boost, too op. Option 3: Can selectively accelerate or decelerate effects on himself. Ex: Decelerate a dot to take less damage per second in the middle of a fight, or compress buffs on himself for burst of power. I vaguely remember him finding a relic with a similar effect for de-buffs on enemies, but I don't think he personally has it.

Patron1kj6tz

Take relic that summons multiple temporary minions and bake in bonus to multiple minions. Them all being temporary minion effects is a bit niche with would require some suspension of disbelief that Will gets all of them. Unless he loots them off another Climer. Amulet of the Oncoming Horde 1 Charge: Consume a small target creature (100mg) as a template. Maximum of 1 template 1 Charge: Summon a small swarm (100) of copies of the template. Can follow simple mental commands, lasts 60+Focus seconds Note: Can only have 1 swarm at a time, even with boost, recasting just restores lost units and resets duration of summon. Temporary summons gain a 0.1% increase in all stats for every other temporary summon. Note: Does not work with undead retainer as they are not on a timer. Gain +1% damage to a target for each ally also targeting it. Soft cap of 10% with rapidly diminishing returns after. (Approaches 20%) Components: Amulet of Calvinian Summoning (yes I realized what I was making halfway through) Ring of the Swarm Boots of Jump Him (Will is very confused by the name) Alt: Ring of Pack Tactics (if you want a non-joke name) Notes: As relic increases in strength he can use more template. Can use larger, stronger, templates. Synergy with first two effects, swarm gets larger and boost from each individual gets bigger as well. Synergy with third effect, can gain bonus damage against more enemies at same time. Does have flaw were swarm loses power as it loses units. The TEMPORARY part is so there isn't a reason to give it to Loth instead. Would also have synergy with Loth's selective breeding. With +213% effectiveness: Swarm size of 313, 0.31% boost per unit, 97.97% boost total, +31.3% damage to 31 targets, close to +62.6% damage on single target.

matt

He needs something with Sticky Fingers, to retain his relics after losing a finger and regrowing it. A monkey, given they're in the jungle. Or a sprite perhaps on the fae floor.

Cyrus McEnnis

Oh, and speaking of soft sets - Amulet of Homefield Advantage combined with that trash Ring of the Potter. Amulet set to mud terrain, ring to change it to ceramic. Could be a decent starting point for a crowd-control item, and combined with Aspect of the Immortal Serpent there's an absolute tonne of synergy there. Could, for example, force mud into breathing tubes then flash-cure it to ceramic to prevent breathing.

Hell 5pawn

Sacrifice: Devouring Eye Effect: allows someone to 'sample' (IE: take a bite out of) something within line of sight. Synergistic with his Phantom Eye, and could allow Will to unlock special meals for his Aspect of the Immortal Serpent. From: an Observer. A profane mutation of a child of Holdna - a failed experiment of either a now-fallen Lord, or one of Holdna's antagonists. An Observer has the ability to feast their eyes on someone, slowly eating away their stats. EG a permanent de-buffer - the only way of getting your stats back is by either eating an observer yourself, or have the Observer eat temporary stats from someone else's buff (basically, make their eyes bleed). It is hard to predict what an Observer craves, though.

Imp

Relic Suggestion - Amulet of the Geomancer Components - Amulet of the Homefield Advantage, Staff of the Elementalist, Footwraps of the Wind Runner +0 Strength +7 Kinesthetics +15 resistance +10 Focus +16 Acuity Increased ability to read shifts in the wind or tremors through the ground or water. Terraformation : Charge 5 : Transform the local terrain and weather around the user. Distance scales with Acuity, Hardiness and temperature differences scale with Resilience. Uses - this represents a shift towards being mage-lite for will. It takes the idea of the Amulet of Homefield Advantage and takes it to the most extreme conclusion - creating lava fields, ice fields, quicksand traps, clinging bogs, thunder storms, etc, which can then be controlled with Aspect as a kind of magic-attack ability. As the Phantom Hand/Eye count as part of Will, they also act as a potential locus for the terraformation / weather manipulation abiltiies instead of Will himself. Phantom Hand Sacrifice suggestion - Wardrobe Change Drop from an undead tailor. Allows the User to exchange equipped relics, one per 50 Acuity, for 1 charge whenever a finger is switched. The unequipped relics must be held in the Phantom Hand's Dimensional Storage and designated ahead of time. This allows Will to change his relic loadout whenever he changes whichever finger is active. So, if Will was wearing his Family set and switched from using Ghost Butlers to the assassin amulet, he could also swap out his mask and cloak for something else. It also means that he also could go to sleep without wearing his relic set and instantly equip it when attacked in the middle of the night.

Subliminy

Some ring that inverts what he can do with Aspect and eating damn near anything... A debuff that gives its target the negatives normally associated with eating raw/rancid/roughage... It really seems like a Will thing to give a party of Paladins violent and uncontrollable upset digestive issues.

Michael

A fork that summons different animals in small quantities. It could summon rabbit or pig that come cooked and arrive to be eaten, like something out of a looney toons skit for rich people. A box that you can pull assorted goods out of, nothing larger than a loaf of bread, but could be anything. Varies by day, such as a kitchen knife set, wash cloths, 3 woven baskets, or a ukelele. Bonus points if it’s a picnic basket instead.
