I totally forgot, when he hits lvl 40, he gets a secondary! He can't upgrade Sourdough any further, so he's gotta pick a new one.I'll list all the previous choices, then we can add a couple based on the comments to the next selection. They can be based on Will's class (Resourceful climber), or one of his sacrifices.INITIAL SACRIFICES:Gravity goat(degraded), Uru Drake, William Oh.PHANTOM HAND:Relic Worm, Fungal Hydra, Dimensional Oyster, Wraith Vessel, Ethereal Metallic Slime.ASPECT OF THE IMMORTAL SERPENTImmortal Serpent, Axolotl, Seed of Inexorable Death

SOURDOUGHErosion Golem, Meldmonger

Current list:Uru Breath (minor)

Active: 5 Charges, unleash a blast of space-warping breath, the dimensional ripples cause temporary damage and nausea to those inside the cone. May cause objects to crack or joints to loosen.

Stone Charge

Active: 1 Charge, 20ft range. Coats the user’s body in stone armor and/or propels them forward at lethal speeds.

Venom strike

Active: 1 charge, Add a poison effect to the next attack with a slashing or piercing weapon. Scales with Acuity.

Mighty Leap

Active: 1 Charge, user’s jump distance is tripled for a single jump.

Prey’s Senses

Passive: The User’s field of vision widens, as well as minor improvements to their hearing and smell. Scales with Acuity.

Deceiver’s Molt

Active: 5 charges. Moderate Self-heal. User slips out of their skin and creates a decoy that can perform simple pre-determined actions. The decoy will retain any wounds the user has healed through this Ability.

Titan’s Grasp

Passive: Space and gravity subtly warp around objects the user tries to hold, allowing them to handle objects both larger and smaller than they might’ve otherwise been able to handle, whether that be from cumbersome size or weight.

Progenitor affinity

Passive: Further enhances the natural affinity scaled creatures have towards you.

Stubborn Ass

Passive: User’s Inertia becomes more difficult to change through outside forces, adding force to their attacks and resisting shoves and strikes.

Serpent’s Tongue

Active: 1 Charge

With a vile word of Eternity, extend the duration of debuffs on the target for (Acu/10) Seconds.

Gravity Charge

Active: 1 charge

The user’s personal gravity is oriented in the direction of the target for Resistance seconds. Ethereal horns grow from the user’s skull, and their brain, skull, and neck are strengthened against impact. Scales with Resistance.

Cancelable.

Blood Binding

Active: 20 Charges

Apply your tainted blood to a weapon to imbue it with a fraction of your nature. The weapon will warp fate to always return to you.

On Binding, one Ability will be randomly added based on the User’s Sacrifices. Only one Ability can be bound at a time, To re-roll the random Ability, Cast Blood Binding again.

Uru Drake’s Eye

Passive: Become able to see that which a Uru Drake Progenitor can. Dimensional effects, Charges and miasma become visible to the naked eye.

Serpent’s Gaze

Active: 1 Charge

Inflict (acu/100) seconds of Paralysis on a target you can see the eyes of. Acuity contested by Focus or Resistance, whichever is higher.

Astral Tread

Passive: A small doughnut shaped area of gravity below the user’s hands and feet becomes under the control of the user and can be used to push off of, or pull into objects and surfaces. Can provide a tiny amount of propulsion should the user be outside the range of any solid objects, such as underwater or in outer space. And that's everything I know of, suggestions welcome!

Comments

Kronos

I think phantom eye shouldn’t be on that list, it’s his tertiary ability, right?

ReadingObsessed

I can see blood binding working out really well depending on which ability links to the weapon.

Macronomicon

lol, sure did, i stole this list form the chapter where he hit lvl 30.

Gardor

Ya think blood binding would work on the fake cannonballs he makes? Giving them a random ability for the second they exist? Although im not really sure he has any good offensive abilities to add to a weapon

vetro 26

Something to do with the battalion slime could be cool like liquid weapon maybe?

Gardor

Titans grasp might interact well with his recent upgrade to immortal serpent, letting him make bigger things out of the terrain he controls

Gardor

Honestly i just like preys senses, i know thats not getting picked, so lets go Drake Eye. Maybe he can start walking on miasma or dimensional effects, whatever those are

Julia Niles

Maybe an ability that lets him temporarily add a sacrifice to one of his abilities, with the time scaling with acuity? I just a fun thought

Matt

Titans Grip, stuff people in his dimensional storage. Done.

Daedalus

Of these, Serpent's Gaze is one of the most independently powerful thanks to its combo with Phantom Eye (something Will considered when taking it as a tertiary even), but that doesn't make it a great choice for him. Astral Tread sounds like it has *fantastic* potential synergy with his Aspect-walking, but it also could be largely overshadowed. Uru Drake's Eye could either be amazing or largely useless, given Will is already able to see Charges just through sheer force of Acuity. Titan's Grasp could feasibly be evolved later on to synergize more with Phantom Hand and enable him to hold way more in storage. But Deciever's Molt is probably where it's really at, given how it adds a huge and potent new capability to Will's arsenal while still being upgradeable. That said, Blood Binding is really great considering it doesn't specify that he can only use it on one weapon, just that each weapon can only get a single ability. If not a new ability, definitely should be either DM or BB.

james apfel

Blood binding for his tomohawk

Senti

boring suggestion but a William Oh passive that just gives some plot armor based on his legend would be funny

Thomas Issa

I would say take Titian’s grasp because he has been anticipating it for ages, but the new affixes lead to funny possibilities for him to reject Something like foes he kills in high miasma semi randomly turning into undead slimes

Van234

I think it should be molt for heal and deception, uru eye for more info or blood binding for attack. Uru eye seems cool couse he will be able to control that stuff with right sacrifices in future.

sata

I wonder if he'd be able to get astral seal to work with the terrain manipulation uh immortal snake. Extremely strong choice if thats possible

Julia Niles

With a cool down, obviously

Fleisch

With titans grasp, maybe he can use both this ability and aspect of immortal serpent to create dimensional pockets for more storage and such. Alongside this, he could add more items to his hand by shrinking them. Maybe even making pocket dimensions within his own hand. What use would this have to his build, no real idea but it could be something.

Fleisch

I think this might be pointless if he can make the items have their abilities with a sacrifice.

Dan N

Blood Binding is basically an additional upgrade to Sourdough! He can use it to give a weapon a special effect then ash it to add that effect to another item using Sourdough. Uru Drake's Eye is also a good pick. Passives are always great and that one has some serious upgrade potential to highlight hidden locations, boss mobs, and rare spawns, not to mention it's obvious utility against other climbers. The ability to see the miasma coming off invisible assassins, spot ambushes, and see skill activations?

Fleisch

Do you want us to give more ideas for abilities or are you hearing our input on this existing list?

Cyrus McEnnis

Titans Grasp interaction with phoberogaia (Fear Terrain) might be interesting. Otherwise, the obvious choice is Blood Bind.

Natalie

New possible ability: Inexorable March: Active 5 Charge, twist your fate to another's and ensure they can't escape. For the next (acuity) minutes they are unable to move away from you, regardless of how far or fast they would normally travel, dimensions are twisted and warped to pull them back to maintain your relative distance. However during this time your maximum movement speed is reduced by a percentage based on the difference between their resistance and your resistance. More resistant opponents will lower your speed more. You can be reduced to a complete standstill, but not to a reverse, nor can you go faster than you otherwise would be able to before hand. Yes this is pretty much the same ability as the ghost dude, but Will had a much higher resistance than he did so would catch up quite quickly, and is on theme for dimensional trickery that he has already, with fate and inexorability thrown in.

Julia Niles

An ability that lets him put sacrifices into weapons

Fleisch

Deceivers molt could also turn into simply having decoys to help as party members. Especially if he gets blood binding as a tertiary and can add it to his decoys. Then maybe they can get abilities added to them. This could cause Will to be a one man army and one man climber. Which sounds like many of the higher climbers are.

RedInkQuill

It will add new details to the story and expand existing abilities.

Tsorov

He doesn't make fake cannonballs? He stores them and then releases them at high speed. Although that would be a neat comby, I think the usefullness of the cannonballs has been reduced in the last floors, and he won't be able to use this technique on other delvers of similiar level anymore.

David Burchfield

I could actually see him getting a William Oh ability, he is one of his sacrifices and with some of the recent fey stuff the dungeon and miasma on the 8th and 9th floors.

CoveringStorm

Since charge can be interacted with by the hand, does this mean it is interpretable as terrain? This potentially would make Uru Drake’s eye fantastic as it would make interaction with charge significantly simpler aiding the development of cantrips and the like. I’m interested in if the Drake eyes vision enhancements would carry to the phantom eyes also

Uroš

It might also have interesting interactions with the phantom hand/snakes

Gardor

Pretty sure something (maybe the ethereal slime? Probably wraith vessel.) lets him manifest items in his phantom hand, which he uses to make "fake" cannon balls. I could be making that up. And after rereading, the random abilities come from his sacrifices, so an ability from the Uru drake might be neat. Plus, it may synergize with sourdough

Fleisch

Can tertiary abilities be upgraded at all? Or does it just take an outlandish amount of levels to get a single upgrade?

Gibby

From the slime Able to generate "useful tools" out raw miasma/liquid metal for charge Hydra/goat Eating heals you Class/gravity goat/Ura Drake I have the high ground Downward attacks have increased power through increased gravitational force. Requires solid ground to attack/jump from. Slime/Ura Drake Become harder to grab as both your body and space shift to avoid attacks and unwanted contact. Scales with resistance. (Basically Aspect but it effects his body instead. Would boost Wills already slippery fighting style.) Inexorbital Death/Gravity Goat Inexorbital Momentum For X Charge the user can begin to store kinetic energy/inerta/momentum. All energy is released when you make an attack or stop moving.

Natalie

New ability: A Leap of Fear. Active, (quite a bit of charge, around 10 ISH?) Caster can freely step behind anyone who's fear he is the cause of, and he can see (the fear). This comes from his new inexorable fear. A short(ISH) range teleport based on the old "it's behind me isn't it" kind of trope and a play on "a leap of faith"

Emily Gurnavage

Uru Drake's Eye Titan's Grasp Deceiver's Molt Those are my 3 top picks, and in order =) They feel the most "William Oh" to me, even if some of the others are still useful.

Hell 5pawn

I say Titan's grasp. Imagine it applying to his terrain shaping - he could grasp his enemies' fear.

Emily Gurnavage

The wording implies both, which is usually the case for these types of threads if you are newer.

KingBing

any of the eye related abilities would be really good because of potential interaction with phantom eye. Serpent’s gaze specifically would be really strong because he can send his eyes anywhere and have an on command 1 charge paralyze. And having the cc requirement being tied to a stat is a non issue because of how Will’s build will inherently have extremely inflated stats, letting him punch up quite a bit

Hell 5pawn

Seed of Inexorable Death: 10 charge, Mark a target to always know where they are or how to get to them. Cancels upon their death. Distance to apply the mark scales with Acuity.

Don

New ability From William Oh Tower Born/Proginator family legacy/Deep breather Passive - Become more attuned with natural miasma gain subtle control, minor extension of senses within miasma scales with acuity, and tolerance for miasma marginally increases as well as influence of it Active: Variable charge Either enter a meditative state where intake of miasma is increased and forms a small core inside body for later use Or release stored miasma for *varied uses* note use in this way will result in greater influence of miasma on users mind Could be too much for extra but eh can cut it up or cherry pick

Tsorov

I think the only thing that he is missing is a movment option, right? From his body of the immortal serpent he always finds stable ground, but he is only as fast as he is because of equipment. Maybe a spatial step from his uru drake sacrifice?

David Burchfield

Will has gotten a ton of utility out of upgrading his passive Aspect of the Gravity Goat. I think Prey's Senses is the best for just all round boost and it has good evolution potential as a passive. It would litterally synergize with pretty much everything he does or can do. I am a sucker for sensory upgrades so Drake Eye sounds fun (again could have some interesting upgrades). I think if you are just looking for something to be immediately useful Decievers Molt has a lot of potential. Blood Binding has Potential synergy with his Sourdough. It also ties in with his whole tomahawk thing. My favorite is actually Prey's Sense's or Deviever's Molt, both have wide ranging creative uses and the ability to grow in interesting directions. Most importantly they could keep him alive when he would otherwise die, a quick heal could turn a fight around by healing you while also creating an opening, Prey's Senses could head off lots of trouble before it even gets going. Far as potential new abilities go. Stuff that synergize with his items or adaptable fighting style would be high priority, as would anything that can keep him alive. I would love some sort of Uru Drake Mobility power, or a Serpent/Will shapeshifting power.

Cyrus McEnnis

Also we should talk about what effects Will should socket into his Phantom Hand. Butlerian Jihad is an obvious keeper, as is the set item. He needs at least one life-steal option socketed, and I'd probably combine it with an attack speed boost with sourdough to get the most bang for his buck. The uber-resistance ring seems a no-brainer as well. That leaves us with 1 slot free. I'd think Will would want an AOE attack option of some description to allow him to fight multiple targets easily, ideally one that scales in effectiveness the more targets he faces. I've suggested it before, because Javazon is my favorite build in the world, but chain lightning might be a good option for that last slot. Failing that, corpse explosion is always fun for the whole family.

alex godbeer

I've got an interesting one move like a snake treat all movement related abilities from come from the entire body

Redc05

The combom between fantom hand and titans grasp just seams too op. There is also synergi between (phantom hand, aspect, astral treads) as well as (phantom hand, sour dough, blood binding). With the right upgrades blood binding would just be uber broken. He could get upgraded realics with a lot of diferent effects through sour dough and place them inside is hand, wich would them multiply the effects further. It would be sooo bonkers

Ethan B.

I really like Uru Drake’s Eye and Astral Tread.

Julia Niles

If they are afraid of him though he would probably be able to beat them easily

Natalie

Just because they can beat him, doesn't mean they aren't afraid, even if only mildly, because they fear what he represents etc Or underlings of actually powerful opponents. Remember Lords mostly fight people as opposed to mindless beasts.

StrollingEye

I think you could have a lot of fun writing with the Moults and the Undead Retainers. There are Moults wandering around aren't they? A way to know Moults and a way to imbue Wills Moults with undead retainer status (or vice verca, let Moults be imbued with undead retainers) would be kinda cool. May I suggest a chat with (what's the name of the Immortal Serpent wandering around with him? ) might reveal more about the other Orobous Moults around the place. A cool things to lean into is understanding the mechanic of the power, the role of the progenitor, the cycles) could that keep cycling through and the like. I see most of what's written as great for combat, but I wonder if Will doesn't want knowledge more than combat now.

Gardor

You're talking about when he uses phantom hand as a counterspell? I always thought of that as him slapping the mana/spell out of existence, but i guess youre right, "charges" are the resource spent, not sure if mana even really exists.

A

Climber's Piton - Active 3 Charges. Place a dimensional anchor in the terrain. So long as the piton exists you can expend 1 Charge to teleport directly to it. Maximum teleportation distance scales with Acuity, number of Pitons scales with Focus, duration of piton scales with Resilience. - Gained from Resourceful Climber class -"He can teleport now?!" Solipsism - Passive. Debuffs on you have reduced intensity and duration, while the opposite is true for buffs. - Gained for sacrificing a part of himself to himself (hand sacrifice). Helping Hand - Active: 5 Charges. Buff an ally with a percentage of your highest stat and/or temporarily give them a minor version of one of your Abilities at random. Potency scales with Acuity. - Gained for sacrificing his own hand. - This could be upgraded by some type of mirror sacrifice so that Will gets a buff based on the buffed ally's highest stat and/or random ability and create some interesting synergies. Natural Camouflage - Active: 1 Charge. Blend into your surroundings at will. Scales with Acuity. - Gained form Immortal Serpent sacrifice. - "He was terrifying enough before he could turn invisible."

Ranger Science

I’m reminded of… shoot, your other story, with Impossible Difficulty. Will knows that the Coil is an “impossible” difficulty, same way the other character does. Getting more *mundanely* powerful isn’t going to change that; Will needs to do things that “break the game”, and are capital-w Weird if he’s going to not die this time. Also, a lot of these don’t say “scales with X” - am I just missing something? Like with the choice around Phantom Eye, what to choose changes drastically if these scale or don’t.

CoveringStorm

Yeah, if he can destroy a spell, why can’t he modify it instead. Hard to do anything but destroy the “charge” or maybe ¿charged miasma? When you’re blind to anything but feeling it in the air. Though the obvious choice is probably mighty leap. It’s a shame Will didn’t get it as a primary initially, but it will have to do as a secondary.

Edmango

Maybe something a tier higher than uru drakes eye, since he can now see fear as a terrain, or something along those lines

Arnon Parenti

Since fear is a terrain now, he needs Terror Charge Range target on the same floor, 7 charges, the user is coated with the fear if his target, appearing before them as their worst nightmare, lowers target resistance by Will's Power, may cause instant death due to sheer terror, seeds fear in adjacent targets.

CoveringStorm

That’s why he needs Mighty Leap! With the MIGHT of 3x jump distance he can ascend 3 times as far as his previous versions! Perhaps all the way to the top of the tower!

Arnon Parenti

Immortal Coil 20 charges, if the user dies he is reborn on a random previously selected spot, coils×resistance/willpower, death is only the first step.

Ed Je

Stubborn Ass Passive: User’s Inertia becomes more difficult to change through outside forces, adding force to their attacks and resisting shoves and strikes. Wait this ability could go really far with his boosts; especially if he got a sacrifice that made it so that any weapons he uses are also included allowing him to add unstoppable inertia to his cannonballs

RAQN

I'm confused. Wasn't his tertiary the eye? Is he getting an additional secondary because Sourdough is locked?

Patron1kj6tz

Consumption (Relic Worm) 1 Charge Consume a permanent relic, destroying it in the process, to gain 50% of its effect for (STAT) minutes. Can only benefit from one consumed relic at a time. Will gambles on, either immediately or after an upgrade, being able to use Sourdough since he's using a relic as a consumable item. With the synergy he would instead leave behind a damaged relic that can be repaired instead of a destroyed one. Given his current Phantom Hand development plan he could also use his stored boosted relics with this. It would be funny if he initially thinks he just has to spend a charge and then a relic vanishes, but no he needs to actually shove a boot in his mouth and take at least one bite for the ability to work. "William Oh once put his foot in his mouth. It turned the tide of an entire war."

Not You

I think blood binding has some really high potential. Especially now that will doesn’t need charge during lots of fights. Also I could probably work on consumable weapons, which would work with sourdough? And having Jason give him luck before activating could almost guarantee positive results

Myles

I liked this one and Serpents Gaze, they seam to be the most versatile and usable for shenanigans

Fleisch

Camouflage… for you?: Instead of camouflaging to your surroundings, the surroundings camouflage to you. This is some trippy dimensionalism wouldn’t you say?

Fleisch

He could get stone charge and turn it into a form of teleportation. Will did decide that power must not be the way through floor 50. So why not be able to teleport through floors.

Exrotes

Inexorable Climb (Mix some of that death seed goodness in with his class) - X Charge Designate a point in space, you must move towards that point, until you reach the destination you cannot die. Does not prevent harm. Just for the fun of a strong defensive skill and an easy ability to upgrade for a heal at the end or just go there really slowly so the bit of pinkie toe leftover from getting vaporized will eventually grow an entirely new Will as long as it doesn't reach that point before he grows enough organs to survive thanks to his Axolotl buff.

Fleisch

Sacrificial Dough Making: Expend 1 charge to combine lower ranking sacrifices to get a cumulative sacrifice of higher rank.

Natalie

Oh I like this one, its interesting and rife for abuse for healing like you said

Josiah

The Legend of William Oh — the more people around him view him as a legend/fear him/think he is strong, the stronger he becomes.

Josiah

Maybe upgrades include giving him temporary access to the abilities of his past selves/legends as well

Trey

Titan’s Grasp paired with his Aspect of the Immortal Serpent is a soft set. Aspect has the gravity goat stuff so it’s what gives him the ability to hold the air itself or people and lets him walk on air a bit. This magnifies that ability. He would have better cantrips and could hold more. Soft set ftw

Enzo Elacqua

The Wraith Coil’s Hand: allows him to briefly alter his hand to imitate one of his previous incarnations alterations to his hand. (Could be abused to be either applied to his phantom hand or his fleshy one) I imagine since this is the one consistent thing across the board that they likely have their own unique uses they figured out from it on their own. If nothing else seeing the option could open his mind to trying to discover how a hand outside of the towers rules could be abused. From the Wraith sacrifice and Wills hand

Quazzy

Oh! Maybe some minor buffing to Phantom Hand's storage, too, if that counts as holding something. That's less exciting than boosting Aspect, though.

Quazzy

ah yes, straight-up immortality with no drawbacks in a secondary.

Quazzy

Does Blood Binding's warping of fate make it less likely to be destroyed? When Will's build centers around items, having a way to not only buff them further (exponentially, when you factor in Sourdough and Phantom Hand) but *also* reduce the odds of losing access to it and crippling one of his biggest advantages? Priceless.

Quazzy

OOOH. Also, we haven't really touched much on his ability to steal relics- the old mainstay of his build- in a long time. Being able to spend a lot of charge and buff an enemy's weapon for the benefit of the weapon inevitably returning to you would be an *awesome* gamble. Um, it might return to him wielded by an angry and now-empowered owner, but I think he should at least consider it.

Mrfacemanlol

Blood binding sounds like the best way to keep his set and make it even better

Jonty

I think titans grasp is easily the best one on the table. It has crazy synergy with aspect* and more importantly is being able to handle objects that are heavier than he wouldn't normally be able to. Here's food for thought: could William use aspect* to shape a mountain into a hammer and then use titans grasp to swing that hammer at his enemies... Absolutely busted

Arnon Parenti

Reborn means no equipment, and maybe other penalties, and he can run out of charges if killed too often

Quazzy

Also, it's a very fitting synergy between the Relic Worm and the Seed of Inexorable Death! It's a lot more flavorful and memorable than anything else, not to mention more spicy and dramatic.

Quazzy

Also also Titan's Grasp doesn't scale ;-; I don't get where people are thinking it could wield mountains from

Quazzy

also also *also,* will needs stuff that can *break* the game, not just quantitative buffs to existing abilities. Getting a second instance of existing abilities that he can then empower with Phantom Hand or dust down with Sourdough? Price. Less.

Josh Cothran

Blood Binding Active: 20 Charges Apply your tainted blood to a weapon to imbue it with a fraction of your nature. The weapon will warp fate to always return to you. On Binding, one Ability will be randomly added based on the User’s Sacrifices. Only one Ability can be bound at a time, To re-roll the random Ability, Cast Blood Binding again. Jeez this synergizes so well with firing a weapon from his phantom hand

Farxzay

I forgot the name of it, but that one mask ability from after Will upgraded to Aspect of the Immortal Serpent should probably be added. It let him manipulate the distance between himself and something else.

Roeland

Well spotted,Only the random part makes it a bit of russian roulette, cause your enemy to molt and heal or cause the weapon to gain gravity charge

Roeland

Uru drakes gaze seems the most epic long term. Supports aspect of the immortal if he can suddenly see the field effects: miasma/oaths he potentially wants to manipulate . Blood binding is a close second upgraded to have 5 slots like his hand he could add an affix to each of his hand items or some such. Both could be upgraded well.

Roeland

But uru drakes eye really seems like it could help him understand the tower and that seems like a longterm win (story wise more paths become available i reckon)

Quazzy

The idea is to make a good affix *beforehand* and then mass-replicate that relic.

Quazzy

Slight issue with that: the lost hand is, by nature, outside the system's grasp. How can it replicate it, and how can it transform his system-less hand?

Macronomicon

lol, nah, i just snagged this from the chapter where he got offered it and forgot to delete it because I'm lazy.

McIntosh Ewell

So Deceiver's Molt is so very perfect to further exacerbate the ridiculous legend of William Oh. A couple more jumped out at me as being really useful, but nothing seemed as amazing as that one. I get that he's already got his Tangled harem, but they're not Will. Anyway, the other two that rose to the top for me were Blood Binding (Phantom Snakes make this not quite as useful), and Uru Drake's Eye, which is just broken as hell. For a new idea, some of the comments on last chapter got me thinking about Will being able to manipulate a spectrum of emotions like filtering light through a prism. Could call it Sentimental Lantern or something like that. As he's leveled and matured, he's become pretty apt at instilling fear and frustration in his enemies, and hope in his allies.

McIntosh Ewell

Ooh, I wonder if his Molts could be used as sacrifices 😲

RAQN

Gotcha. Thought I had misunderstood how ability selection worked for a moment. Speaking of which: Relic Eater: The user's attacks degrade targeted relics. Simple, strong, in character, and matches many of his sacrifices. I was considering some way to maybe "infect" relics with a fungal debuff that spreads, but I didn't know how to phrase it.

Fleisch

You got to realize though that while it’s important that he can fight other Climbers; once he gets to the higher floors there will be less Climbers and more monsters. I feel like Blood Bind would be good for Climbers and pretty decent against monsters. But ultimately he already has skills good against Climbers and should find ways to break the tower. Maybe Uru Drake Eye would allow him to create his own skills and such. Maybe stone charge or mighty leap would allow him to jump through floors on his own. Who knows, all I know is he doesn’t need something that makes him overpowered against monsters or Climbers and instead needs to be overpowered against the tower.

McIntosh Ewell

Every magical effect we've seen is a function of miasma. As relentlessly analytical as he's proven to be, if Will's able to observe directly the underlying principles behind any technique used in his vicinity, he'll be innovating cantrips that'll make thousand year old Lords weep with envy. That's not to mention that moving between floors is most likely a dimensional effect. What happens when he reverse engineers the mechanics behind key sites?

Aloysius

So. Blood binding on the manifested relics in Phantom hand? Blood binding with a sacrifice that lets the amount of blood the relic is soaking in to scale up the effect then it can both empower his armour when he is bleeding and be used in sourdough for either if the binding doesn't disband when the relic is turned to dust or to add it to the barrel when an relic is cooking

ParadoxFox

Titan’s Grasp has potential shenanigans…like what counts as an object? Would it work on fear? Astral Tread for similar reasons, but I think there’s less room for interpretation. I guess the main question is whether these have too much overlap with his existing abilities. Other thoughts: if serpent’s gaze can work through his phantom eyes, that can be busted, deceiver’s molt is fine, but I feel like that’s a worse version of Travis’s build, blood binding is probably pretty fun if it can apply to random objects. And finally I think Uru Drake Eye is potentially breaking but I find that it’s too vague and I don’t like powers that feel so open ended.

Enzo Elacqua

Good point, maybe this could be the towers attempt to reintegrate the hand? I don’t know how sentient the tower is, but I doubt it likes having something outside of its void inside itself. Maybe the choice could be less about something Will could take and more a way to infer more about the world itself. Who knows though, idk enough to guess at what Mac has planned yet

Bagmoose

I really gotta agree with Uru Drake Eye. Deems to have the most versatility and potential to help in and out of combat, as well as combat against climbers and monsters. I could easily see it becoming the way that Will could tailor craft things for people, help him read opponents better (both climbers for charge, miasma for monsters). Also, he could see inside his dimensional storage. I think it would make for an interesting narrative choice all around .

Fleisch

You know, progenitor affinity might help the tower be more kind to him. Aka, allow him to break the system. Since Ouroboros seems to be a part of the tower.

Marlin

Titan’s Grasp has the most synergy with his build if it works with Aspect. Serpent’s Tongue is cool and adds a new element to Will’s powers, with plenty of room for cool upgrades. Stubborn Ass would also be a really good way to shore up Will’s abysmal strength. Blood binding, mighty leap, and venom strike all seem redundant. Nothing there he can’t accomplish through other abilities. Uru Drake’s Eye seems like the best choice to me. It’s basically a passive detect magic for a guy who’s aiming for floors with very little recorded information. Easily lifesaving in a DnD setting. It’s also a qualitative upgrade that doesn’t need a lot of extra work to be good, so it works as a secondary.

Gorane

This isba great point and maybe we see that in the later levels.
