I kind of created a funny exploit in the Perk system and wanted to know:What armor material do you think would cause people to tremble in terror, awe, or simple confusion?

“High tech ceramic”? You mean fancy dirt.

Yes, cardboard

Benji

Why not plastic? Advanced plastics can be extremely strong, while also being versatile. Also it would be silly.

Macronomicon

You'll see next chapter, but basically there's single perk he gets that multiplies the effectiveness of a material based on how cheap it is, and ALSO multiplies the defensive effectiveness of all materials. I just realized that at some point cardboard may be a viable choice and it cracked me up.

Hey now it's got a few scribbled runes written with a Sharpe on the back side. Such as "bullet resistance", "fire resistance", "boosted stealth when sneaking past parents" and so on.

Carl Mason

Is the dirt locally sourced and organic?

Carl Mason

Recycled soda bottles?

Evan

I'm imagining an Optimus Prime cardboard cosplay type of suit. Or maybe something made from some kind of bulk commodity that goes for dollars per ton.

Benji

Basically. Or any plastic, like phone protector case and things like that. Most plastic is made to be durable and cheap. It's why people complain about it not being biodegradable and all lol also they have made things like plastic that can conduct electricity. Which is hilarious.

Macronomicon

I'm actually going to steer clear of runes as the sole magical thingamabobs, and will explain why later in the series.

Gerald Monroe

Fair just thinking it needs to have something that differentiates from a muggle reproduction of the same armor sold in gift shops once he's famous.

I’d just love to say that I adore mecha despite how utterly impractical they are in a non-fiction setting. If you plan for kaiju in this story I am ride or die until the sweet, glorious, bitter end. ❤️ PS: highly recommend the DIRE series for a fun meta human story staring a morally ambiguous tinkerer

Alex Lindsay

Ok in that case I’ll.change my vote to super multiplied cardboard. That would be Awesome!!!!

David Schleimer

Is it purely a dollar value thing, or does it factor time and/or the cost of tools into the "cost"? Because aluminum cans can be had for effectively free (or a few cents a can if you pay someone else to collect them). Aluminum can dresses are practically a meme. If you want a fancier version of that, I bet Perry's tinker dad has a 3d printer capable of sintering aluminum.

Crownfall

You already know Perry is about that action. He is pulling up with double corrugated boxes on god

My childhood consisted of crushing the soda cans we would go through as a family so we could cash them in bulk at the end of the year. Crushed soda can mecha suit would be baller.

John Anastacio

Honestly, I'd vote none of the above and make it out of upholstery or gummi bears. Something comfy.

Pastor Joubert

I love the cardboard idea, its like rule of cool went so far down into the negative it flipped positive again.

Blackneoshifter

I really want to vote cardboard, but does the armour multiplier help water resistance too? While a rain shower being his weakness would be funny, feels a bit to common to have it shut him down.

Blackneoshifter

That would work, would probably also benefit from the cheap material buff too. Wonder what would be the weak link after buffs applied, the sealant, ductape or cardboard? Would be funny if the cardboard was actually weaker then everything else!
