Who do you think was in the wrong in chapter 21.A) Perry's mom for attempting a life-threatening ritual on him involving feeding him an extremely dangerous magical parasite, and giving superpowers to an eight-year old.B) Perry's dad for injecting his son with an untested serum and giving him a complex he can't even remember the reason for.C) Both.D) Neither.Just gauging public sentiment.

Communication .. if the mom had talked to the dad and cooperated both could have done what was best for perry .. maybe have an aside with parents showing how that point almost destroyed their marriage but is stronger now

SirReality

Both. Either action would have been okay if they had both talked about it and agreed on risks, but they both took unilateral action without informed consent or even informing the other parent.

Blackneoshifter

Both are in the wrong I'd say, though his dad shouldn't have swung straight the other way after his mom had already done it. It's a case of the old two wrongs don't make a right

Gerald Monroe

This is a macronomicon story. Obviously what his mom did will just "power up" his dad's nanomagic and make him even more powerful in the end.

Jacob

Both, the mom more than the dad. If my spouse puts a parasite in my kid that almost kills him, then he’ll yes I’m going to try to neutralize it. But he was also doing it a bit to be petty I think, and just completely rearranging your kids entire future with some experimental drug/ system is also incredibly irresponsible, no matter how understandable

vetro 26

I'm thinks kind of a combination of neither but also both. They did what they did in the hope of giving him a good life

Deinos

Both, but sequentially, obviously. She was wrong to do it. But, at least to our current knowledge, assuming his mother has some sense to her in regards to correctly handling/teaching someone with those kinds of powers from her background, she would've educated him into it. But what he did, in the world they live in, with dangers on every corner, it was much Much worse considering his longelevity. We do not know how he would've grown up and what he'd have become though.

Deinos

Nods thoughtfully. .. where are the boobs though. Noone ever talks about the boobs.

Gavriel

I think both were sorta wrong, but dad was definitely wrong

What are the odds that "the system" will "lose" when the attunement/high tide, comes in? I feel like the system is not the equal of the "tide"; otherwise it wouldn't have to 'compromise', yet the system COULDN'T stop the magic, only slow it down massively (what happens when it gets pushed out, leaving it's strength behind) Becoming safe from something he's already safe from was the purpose of it, after all; and it appears to me, that "the system" took his short term potential for YEARS, when he had limitless power; the system should CERTAINLY make him more powerful, not at all less; ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THAT IT NOW INCREASES HIS ATTUNEMENT (🤣, Guarantee that isn't just for tinker purposes) If his attunement is now positive, which it is; he is literally a key to do magic on his own again based upon the magic system The system likely kept him safe as a child with powers that could easily kill him, but now? The best way to protect him from magic is to get really good at it

Pastor Joubert

Perrys dad didn’t make a cure, he entered a tinker twitch and woke up with some goo in his can and said “yeah, this will save my not at all in any danger kid” and then stuck him with a one of a kind goo. At least the moms magic is well tested and repeated across generations of mages. Dads tinker tek is the most woobbly woobly magic woozy shit ever.

Pastor Joubert

Which would be the correct answer if Perrys mom wasn’t following a well researched and time honored tradition of thousands of mages throughout the eons… and Perrys dads magic jizz wasn’t a trance induced one off that even he does not understand the true workings of that completely relays on the very unreliable tinker twitch to magicly woo some goo into existance. Honestly Moms magic is way less wibbly bibbly than a tinker making a fusion reactor from a D-cell and a cup of sea water.

Deathburn

Both. The kid was in no danger of dying prior to the time of procedure for either parent. Both almost killed him without asking if he was fine with a risk of death.

Macronomicon

I got so much sass from people about the boobs that I stopped writing about them... Single tear.

SunderGoldmane

The system may just be constantly subverting the magic and using it to connect the dots on the tinker physics bending side of things. If that’s how it’s working then it maybe that his physics bending is more stable during high tides and if that’s the case then he’s got a niche wall defense market.

Callum Melly

Both fucked up, but the implication seemed to be his mum would teach/train him, whereas his dad has pretty much left him to figure things out, even though he got a tinker power.

Gerald Monroe

It's a macronomicon story. So it'll be "overflowing excess power into MAGIC stat" or something. So he'll be able to do shit but only 'systemically'.

Chunq

When are you going to try full-100%-mega-lewd? I'm sure people ask that all the time too.

Carl Mason

My expectation after seeing this chapter is that the tinker system is likely to begin portioning out his magical birthright at some point. I expect it will be a regulator rather than a replacement. Especially as his power is so strong. Right now he might need spell disks but that is because his magic is being limited and all of it is going to his passives, as he grows more will be unleashed and he will regain actual magic ability. I hope.

Dee

Both. Perry’s consent didn’t seem to factor in for either of them. Big party foul on my book.

Macronomicon

basically when I'm rich enough not to care who i piss off.

Gerald Monroe

Interesting. Would assume the inverse, that servicing the market for textual porn would pay more.

ADONUS GREEN

C. And d. They can raise their child how they see fit. Not to mention it isn't a normal society they live in.

Macronomicon

from my experience it's got a bit of a glass ceiling for authors. Except the 50 shades lady. she basically won the lottery with that tripe.

Gerald Monroe

Reasonable. Think the profitable niche for those lucky enough to get discovered is female text porn. Gotta have endless young buff billionaire playboys looking to settle down if they find the right girl...

Nicholas F

Mom should have talked about it with dad, but I echo the sentiment that she was at least building off of generational knowledge. Dad did straight tinker twitch bull crap that he doesn’t understand to subvert something he understands even less.

Ford-Thomas Frank Loveland

No one seems to mention that she gave an 8 year old UNLIMITED POWER. The dads tinker tech may have been sketchy but it also added a childlock that would only be removed upon detected maturity. Also the moms legendary parasite almost killed him and apparently has a history of possible harming it host.

A disgruntled nondescript squirrel

what? a child and a young man just entering puberty would never abuse unlimited power to do what ever they want HAHAHAHHAHHHAHAHAHa, no never they are paragons of virtue lol

Ford-Thomas Frank Loveland

A teen is hardly better but at least the gradual tinker approach makes him less likely to accidently magically nuke his elementary school class

A disgruntled nondescript squirrel

agreed a young teen is hardly better, with unlimited power, but he doesn't have unlimited power as a tinker. He has power that allows him to do a lot, but it requires time patients money and forethought and he is young adult teen at this point. So he is unlikely to idk mind control every mildly attractive girl and act out some disturbing Japanese power fantasy porn on everyone he knows. He is also unlikely to go fps on everyone who mildly annoys him then make everyone forget they ever existed

Warper6

The Mom's idea was the only one with a truly severe chance of death from what was stated if I remember correctly. There's also the issue of the whole infinite power at a young age. But the Dad also kind of fucked up by sealing and stealing the magic given entirely afterward with experimental tech he didn't even know the use of.

Dion Crump

Both, mom could have killed him, dad could have cut off his powers forever, neither consulted each other.
