These are probably both going to happen at some point, but,

Do you prefer

A) Perry delves an abandoned lair.B) Beach cleanup between tides. Also, suggestions for both totally welcome.

Personally I believe that one can lead to the other. The beach cleanup fits with what is going on with high personally with the way that I am envisioning the world that you are building one of the last places you would expect a lair would be close to the water because of high tide. So bumbling across a secret lair while doing their duty totally works.

Circumstances say beach, but I personally hope lair, I feel like with how he struggled with one prawn with a full group, upgrading his cardboard mech and combat magic a bit more would do him some good

Evan

I like the idea of him collecting prawn bodies, using some sort of preservation magic, to sell as food during the cleanup and finding a lair.

I'd say it depends on how long the tide lasts. If high tide lasts a while, then finding an abandoned lair under his new property and exploring it before the end of the tide could work well. It'd give him new resources and maybe find some industrial tinker-tech he could modify for a fast/faster powerup. Or Maybe a true AI? (Maybe a tinker that turned themselves into an AI by mistake? Could maybe integrate them with octopus braincells to streamline the magic?) Or maybe a funky magical doodad or familiar that can help him access magic more easily. Maybe one that'll let him transfer magical energy to his brain-chips to replace some of the reagents. Maybe a mana-crystal or battery? Hell, could do both. Maybe a tinker that tried to turn a magical rock into an AI and trapped their mind/soul inside. Could let Perry bind them as a familiar and use them as a battery for the magical parts of his gear. Or have the magical rock just be a magical computer chip he can connect to his own brain to let him use magic. Then he could have his first "boss battle" when testing things during beach cleanup? Maybe fight an octo-prawn? An octopus/sea urchin with prawns growing from the ends of it's tentacles. Like a hydra but shrimpy eldritch abomination. Could also do it the other way around, if the tide ends before his next construction/powerup phase. Maybe beach cleanup/tidal forces turns a brain-chip into a magical octopus AI familiar thing that wants to be fed fish-mana in exchange for doing magic. Then boss battle in abandoned lair under the wall against a giant robot with the personality of an egirl but the voice of an elderly british butler.

Pastor Joubert

thought this would be a slam dunk for abandoned lair

Jared Bowers

I think everyone agrees that the abandoned lair would be fun. However the beach cleaned up in between waves fits the current storyline better. Also as I said in my earlier comment hopefully one will lead to the other. O.o

Macronomicon

I think Everyone wants to see Hardcase in a swimsuit.

Pastor Joubert

If we get an LN/Manga esc beach chapter I will lose my cool. Ill buy the darn book just to rip the pages out and burn them lol

Darune Albane

Agree finding a lair in low tide exposed area would be reason to do beach first

Why not both? Building Scavenger bots and Abandoned Lair delving bots should both be possible, and at a material cost so much lower than is typical that it actually becomes economically viable. Doing either by being there in person is just idiotic for a tinker. Grunt work should be automated.

Macro, I'm not sure a mech in a swimsuit would turn anybody on except the most specific kinds of nerds.
