Ideas I already have:

1: killbots break down the wall of the newly dug-out shower room while Perry is showering in it.2: Wall break in the area?3: A bad trigger?4: Why is Brendon so valuable anyway?5: life Outside the wall/The Railway explored?6: city attacked by a Major villain? Chemestro/Perry have to not kill each other during it.Yeah, I'm a little in need of stuff to do. I wanna do the abandoned lair with killbots idea soon, but after that, not totally sure. This weekend is a great time to figure out some ideas to start working on Monday!Inundate me with possible arcs! Discuss them! And don't forget we need more worldbuilding, so questions about the world are a great story seed.Once I compile all the ones i like, I'll take a vote. Also nobody got internet points for guessing who the old man is. I'll give some hints:

He's rich, old, likes dressing fancy, has access to symbiotic spirits to make mages with, and wants someone to kill Perry.Asking you guys this helps me determine how long it's gonna take theorists to figure out who is helping Chemestro.

Option 4 seems fun. Also, what's going on in space? Perry's dad and mom have been off world, anything else going on up there? Orbital habitats? void prawns? Someone keeps flinging asteroids at other supers bases?

Crownfall

Less valuable stuff is more valuable to perry. I could see him going for the dregs of low value stuff left over from beach coming or in some kind of tinker dump. Still have the magitech angle working in the background also for the mini arc unless you want to turn it into a main conflict. If you're angling to make perry go cowl eventually maybe he could use a second identify for selling magitech that could evolve into his cowl identity. Or maybe make him do both. That would be a fun parellell to him having the mimic and magic. A tinker cape persona and an evil mage cowl persona. Also a fun parellel to the fight he inherits from his parents "fighting"

BlissForgotten

Option 4 tying into 6 seems a solid plan of attack?

BlissForgotten

Bonus if Brendon and Chemestro somehow become "friends" to Perry's horror. Nothing more awkward than your nemesis being the awkward extra friend at events.

Jared Bowers

Brendan has the power of friendship. 🤣

Blackneoshifter

Could do some magical materials gathering for dave, stuff has to come from somewhere special to be magical right? Haven't done too much stuff where opponents/wildlife have magic too

Macronomicon

oh, i forgot, another mini-arc would be the older tinkers coming after him for his proprietary tech.

Jared Bowers

That is an interesting question if they have been in space are the prawns just an earth problem or do we have void prawns in space?

Joe ?

I like option 4, and I even have a theory. I think Brendon has negative attunement. He's not just oblivious, he's supernaturally oblivious. You could show him exactly what the astronomers see before they go mad and he'd just kind of yawn and want to eat lunch. Also my theories for who the old man is are (in order of likelihood) a) grandma changing her appearance in an attempt to force Perry's system to let him use magic b)maternal grandfather, married into the zauberer line to take a crack at the mimic spirit but never got the chance c( alternate universe future Perry trying to either kill off the competition or force him to take off the kiddy gloves.

Brendan could be a magical creature or a descendant of one. Maybe one that's lucky in a magical sense. Would explain why his family is wealthy, people kidnap him all the damn time, and yet he's always ok even after things go wrong. He could be the key ingredient to making lucky charms...er... Luck Charms. But nobody can do it because he's too lucky to have that crap taken by force. BUT if Perry can figure it out he could corner the market with his buddy/employee's toenail clippings. Or bathwater. Bathwater would be funny, especially if it was a potion of luck instead of a charm. One-use with temporary effects would be best financially, as there would always be demand but Perry would control supply. Plus it would be nasty, and he'd have to have a pube-filter for quality control. Edit: Lucky Charms cereal in-universe should be why Brendans family is wealthy if this is the case. Make the cereal only vaguely or slightly magical, maybe even have Hexen complain about how little potency the mass-production version of it has and how much better the orginal was when she was growing up. Maybe make the mass-produced version just a tiny bit lucky per person, but have a big effect for the city as a whole because so many people eat it.

You could have a containment breach in the sewer sytem, have a portion of a massive underground water-treatment plant/villain lair end up destroyed because a magical slime used in part of the treatment process triggers and becomes a massive all-consuming poop-slurry-monster. Have it happen in their section of the city while something else goes wrong (like a wall-breach) so there's no other help. Perry would have to use magic to contain it while Chemestro would have to kill it, or the other way around. Edit: This does beg the question, how does the city process it's poop? Some of the people are magical and you don't want to dump magic or genetic material into the oceans given what could happen if a bacterium ate people byproducts and triggered. Flesh eating plague? Poomageddon becuase of magical cholera/dysentery? The common cold evolving into the Uncommon cold!? A fungus amongus!?

Perry is invited to attend a Nexus rising stars networking weekend but shortly after arriving the location is locked down because there has been a murder most foul. Due to complex conflence of powers, Perry and others are thrown back in time, he must contend with the Nexus bureau of time crimes and the younger versions of his parents. It may be High Tide but TTC or the tinker tech convention has already paid for the venue. His father used to drag Peery there every year in order to get perry more interested in tinkering but perhaps it will be more interesting as a participant. Perry's got an eye on a new spell but the primary ingredient is more expensive than anything else he has purchased by a wide margin and waht makes it worse is someone (Chemestro) keeps driving the price up. Perry must figure out a way to fufill his order back log and increase his market profile before the auction finishes in two days. Perry clones couldn't cause too much trouble could they?

Alex LeBlanc

I'm pretty curious about what's going on with Brendan, he seems to have some kind of prophecy's child stuff going on.

Gaunt

Perry invests in local infrastructure while its cheap during high tide, buying up several dumps and recycling plants, inadvertently displacing a lurking threat in the junk. Locust should also bug him soon-ish about the time line for those suits

Throngler In Chief

She should call him while he's fighting the monster, too. Like, maximum level inconvenience.

Enaz the great

Have Powers not work on Brendan .Nothing supernatural works on Brendan, brendan is so nornal he makes everything around him in a 5 foot radious as "normal" as he is

Hunter Joseph

I still like the idea of accidentally reviving that Saint he uses the hair from due to the much increased healing. Maybe use this as justification to kick off a magical war of good vs evil or something Otherwise some ideas are: have mom or dad decide to ask for his help with something and it gets blown out of proportion Have robots able to mimic humans terminator style sneak their way in through the wall and start assassinating Have perry try to summon again but due to exponent shenanigans have it be a super high level being that comes through but doesn't listen to him, for good or bad. Lastly maybe have a respected hero snap and go bad with perry just so happening to be in the area

Carl Mason

Where actually is the city? Is the beach outside a priper beach because it is a coastal town or is it built up deposit from the Tide coming in and beneath it is good soil that will be desalinated and used for farming once the tide recedes? Are there other cities closer to the coast with taller walls? Are cities built lower as they move further inland and increase in elevation? Is there an elevation where they don't even bother with walls because prawns just never reach them? Can we go there? Can we visit another city on a super field trip to rescue it when the local super population is down for the count and they need short term reinforcements? Do small towns exist or are they all just massive mega cities? Where does the city get its food from, especially during Hightide? How consistent is High Tide, does it always come up to the same level?

Chunq

Deep sea diving in search of low-background steel. Some spell component needs the coldest of cold iron, and even Perry's perk hits its limit of cleaning up the reaction. I suppose the spell could be related to counter Chemestro's counters. Might be too high level of a quest, but that's what could make it fun.

Pastor Joubert

Yea! Like is “high tide” sweeping the galaxy? Is that why their are so many magical creatures taking refuge on earth? High tide hits different in a world without magic, dominated by tech that the local fauna cant control…

Thomas

Perry has to escape from the romantic advances of an older super who saw him naked both times Chemestro got him out of his suits. Also the next time it happens Perry could make some joke about how Chemestro is into his body and watch as it goes over Chemestro's head. Or these ideas could just be a running gag. Like how Wraith is such a Tsundare.

SunderGoldmane

I don’t get the tsundere vibe from wraith at all. As far as I can read she’s just an actually antagonistic friend who’s a girl.

SunderGoldmane

I think the idea of supers being homesteaders and founding cities would be cool to hash out when another city makes its way into the story. Maybe a nice little tourist welcome center explaining all about the founding super and how they sheltered citizens through the tide.

SunderGoldmane

Comically human looking robot infiltration from the replicators would be a fun thing to tease out over two to three chapter of people commenting on this weird robot that’s walking around reassuring everyone “I am not a robot, I have cameras as eyes, would you care if I took your picture? I am not staring at you, I am taking your picture.”

SunderGoldmane

A hero snapping would also be an in for exploring how when you have super powers you can’t afford to not take care of your mental health. It takes a lot of negligent care for an ordinary person to go postal in a way that kills large amounts of people. Supers are one good cry away from doing something like that on accident. It’s already being touched on with chemistro and the therapist, with Perry and family bonds etc, but we haven’t seen one snap. Solaris grew into his mindset it seems, but that process has a lot of potential snapping points of failure.

SunderGoldmane

Perry buying a junkyard is something that’s pretty easy to believe will happen, using that easy plot point and making an impromptu adventure out of it would be cool. Maybe even tie in mutant ghetto, instead of a random boss level beast it’s actually the head of the local mutant gang and perry cuts them a deal.

SunderGoldmane

You are correct, Mac decreed that bBenden is important and now the whole series is about fulfilling that prophecy.

Thomas

I don't see her as a full on tsundere, just having minor traits. Wraith is constantly messing with Perry's personal life (his date with War Harvest), is a love interest, is kind of pushing for a harem (please no, the sex angel and war harvest), and gets upset and involved whenever anyone else messes with Perry. If that isn't tsundere light, I don't know what is.

SunderGoldmane

Tinker tech convention sounds like a crafting tournament story arc in disguise. If this doesn’t get written as a foreground plot point it would be cool to have it exist and hear about the tournament winners and their contributions to the nexues on the news or ….wait, this would be a great way for bevis and buthead to claim the designed mechanical magic….. and Perry never even entered the contest, just heard about it after the fact. Could even have them try to enter into legal battle with Perry over using proprietary tech without their permission. Talk show host tour talking about how Perry is actually a cowl and stole the designs from them and made his suits.

SunderGoldmane

I like the grandma in disguise theory, now that it’s been mentioned that’s exactly who I think it is. And if that’s so then it would be really cool to have the reveal be when her and mechanaut get together and update their bets and stakes on the outcome of chemestro and Perry’s next encounter. Somebody has been spying on Perry since day one and it’s reasonable to believe that grandma zaub has some way of keeping tabs on the magical heirloom artifacts of her family line, which equates to spying on chemestro.

SunderGoldmane

I would love to see chemestro think up a plan of attack that involves kidnapping brenden and then is just like,” your actually a really valueable person, here, I got a few side projects I could use a hand with so you can keep busy while Perry comes to rescue you.”

Jackson Andrews

i want to see a proper world threat being handled by solaris and perrys parents but not from their perspective like just perry and chemistro realizing how far it is to the top. also how many cities are their? are there non-walled cities further inland? where does food come from. can we get a visit from the solaris equivalent from another place perhaps another world power?

Macronomicon

The running gag is that he treats the sex angel like hired help and never uses her for her primary purpose. And now that the sex angel has seen Hardcase and Heather, she wouldn't sleep with Perry if he wanted her to. She's got other plans

Alex Lindsay

I like the other cities to come into play. Maybe a foreign Cowl and a corresponding foreign young female cape that Perry develops a crush on to the annoyance of the local girls? Allows further world building.

Carl Mason

Except when they get orders for units and try to build some they dont work or are prohibitively, unmarketably expensive and they are confused.

Carl Mason

Thos would only work by direct application. We have already seen Brendan be in the immediate vicinity of people using magic and powers. But if he rejects any ability used on/against him that is different.

SunderGoldmane

Some big boy threat being handled and seen from the perspective of the little leaguers would be cool. We are seeing a little bit of that almost everytime Solaris shows up. He was there to sweep up Kronos, we saw him handle the wall breach and in both instances we have gotten to see little glimpses of a larger threat hanging around the outskirts of the stories current lense. If Solaris there is going to be some kind of run in with Solaris and Perry involving mimic soul stuff and potentially apocalyptic super critical soul magic stuff in the future then it would be nice to have a more fleshed out understanding of Solaris before that and whatever this example ends up being it would be good to have Perry excluded from its solution so we get a more clear view of the big supers being serious.

Carl Mason

As far as who the old man is, I would say either Perry's maternal grandfather who does not appreciate his existence for some reason (maybe mom was an illegitimate baby or something) or he might be the last remnant of a competing house from grandma's homeworld that wants to remove him for petty political reasons. We don't really have enough information to narrow it down further yet.

A disgruntled nondescript squirrel

ok so you have been hyped about the lair under him for a while and I can tell you really want to do it so just do it already and stop asking I bet its filled with killer sex bots and or mysterious forshadowing

Throngler In Chief

There should be a magical essence for mysterious forshadowing. Like, a literal material that's ALMOST usefully prophetic, but just makes things feel important for no reason. Put a drop on a screwdriver? Someone will feel like it's important, pick it up, carry it around for a bit, then lose it somewhere. Then someone else sees it, feels like it's important, carrys it around...etc etc until the effect wears off. Actually, it'd have to be an illegal material. That's actually the perfect way to distribute a magical plague or bioweapon throughout the populace. Edit: That would actually tie in really well with sex robots. Crazy tinker built a secret bunker/brothel and used the Mysterious Forhadowing essence to advertise/encourage customers. Would literally make it feel very important for passers-by to rent a sex-bot. Could very well be why the substance was made illegal, was used as an illegal love-charm.

Nobody

I'm going to guess the old man is after those 2 things in Perry's soul that got mentioned in the family meeting a while back. The legendary thing that kills everyone who it attaches to and the artificial one his dad made to fight it.
