The replicators are 100% attacking the train to get those sweet sweet resources. They are also very smart. They have deliberately seeded the length of the tracks with highly aggressive, territorial mutated animals. These animals will assault the train many times and inflict wear and tear, acting as disposable shock troops, before the alpha strike from the Replicators arrives.so I need ideas for creatures and what weird powers they might have, as long as they're highly aggressive and territorial.

Brell

Having read only the title: a larger, aggressive, carnivorous train. After reading the details, mutant beavers with Tinker teeth that bite through even the hardest metal alloys. Pigeons, perhaps? Cows that have developed a craving for human flesh. Goldfish. Blood-crazed yellow labrador retrievers with lolling tongues and wagging tails. Wood lice with very angry dispositions.

Kote's chronicles

Some kinda badger wolverine hybrid. Honey badgers don't give a fuck. Maybe throw In a splash of the Tasmanian devil. The animals of course but maybe add in some cartoon like ability as that nod to the cartoon.

Jon

I think of bears if it's about the woods and scary animals. If you want to make it a twist, make them Polar Bears - but polar like magnets instead, and it messes with the magnetic fields, disrupting a lot of Tinker tech and maybe interacting with Nat

Van234

A pack of carnivorous rabbits that inverse gravity or at least nullify it in some area around. And feed on floating prey.

Patrick

Wolverines and pissed off badgers.

DeeSharkman

An eyeball shaped brain or a brain shaped eyeball that exists in a state of inverse superposition meaning that it exists in multiple states at once when observed directly and is therefore impossible to kill and only collapses into a single killable state when unobserved

JG

giant Wild boars (see what is going on in the southern usa right now). They also have Mass or gravity powers makeing themselves heavier so they hit much harder

Deinos

How about worms, but with powers like superman. Only stoppable by wormonite.

Joe ?

Like the first guy, my first thought was carnivorous train. Or like some sort of beetle/bobbit worm/ sandworm from dune hybrid that can reverse the rails, and grind trains to scrap. The smaller fodder can be something like giant mosquitos that feed on the concept of structural integrity.

Nobody

Mimics that look like every day objects but don't understand placement such as toilets appearing in random hallways or beds attached to ceilings.

Sedwaq

Gremlins! Little beasts that eat electronics! The greatest enemy to any Tinker! A giant sloth that has fallen asleep on the tracks! It's fur is covered with poisonous moss and litter nasty critters that fees on it.

Evan

Giant house cats that bat it around like a normal cat would a toy train.

Nameisrequired

Honey Badger perhaps? You could give it phasing powers which would make it quite a threat to physical defenses and power armor. Definitely a hard to counter power but could be scary if used correctly

Kory Smith

Pack animals that aren’t normally aggressive would fit the bill, such as sheep or cows. Even with the established gigantism, a four ton ram will do serious damage even without additional powers (static/lightning from the wool). Using bi-pedal cows would be a fun nod to the Diablo series

Ricochet

Just regular Canadian Geese, only the most brutal and cunning have survived

Gaunt

Off brand shadowrun squiddoth. Part elephant, part squid, all pissed off

Ben

Beware the low lying meadows. That’s where the giant geese nest. Their honks are sonic attacks, their wings create massive gusts, their bites can crush bones

PlasmaticPi

Giant anteaters with super long tongues that are both sticky and acidic, allowing them to burrow in and drag people and other food out. Natural response to bigger ants with harder shells.

RepossessedSoul

Mentat Mollusks; mollusks that feed on memories and produce pearls of pure happiness/emotion from the ingested brainwaves. Used as part of an underground drug operation to make pure emotion inducing drugs. Based off zebra muscles; start as a parasite within a host and then emerge to drain off captured hosts.

M.J. Markgraf

Car-sized badgers that eat metal and gain the properties of it to strengthen their skin

Tooshar

Trap Spiders would be perfect, giant ones grabbing onto the train as it passes with little ones getting into the train. Would give a good excuse to not be spotted by the scouts. also fyi I hate spiders so make sure they die in a fire if you go that route lol :D

Michael S.

A swarm of gazebos. They look all innocent, but they're extremely deadly.

Macronomicon

plus they can inject venom into th etrain and turn people inside into goop

PlasmaticPi

A giant yellow rubber ducky that sits to the side of the track not responding to any provocation and unable to be hurt until the train is in range of its fire breath.

PlasmaticPi

Will also stop breathing fire if someone starts explaining a problem they are having to it. Result of a mad scientist tinker who took the rubber ducky problem solving method to an extreme to make sure they remember to use it.

LeJordon

A giant skunk with a mutation to their scent gland that creates clouds of toxic chemicals in addition to the smell

0xFFF1

I know this setting is secretly cosmic horror, but that's just too much.

Connor Kelly

Mutant (Perry) platypus with mind controlling powers, Bobcat murder machines with telekinetic claw blades, skunks with illegal love pheromones, KRAB-GOD, Hypno toads, A flock of Murder Squirrels 🐿️ with collective HP and Cumulative damage. Mole men of the subterranean deep, Chimearan Komodo Tarantula dragon spiders, Forever 🐥 baby birds with cuteness deathrays that melt your eyeballs from your 💀, Face eating mimic moths, and 50ft Nope Ropes that have morph powers to best represent people's concepts of NOPE!

0xFFF1

I think it'd be cool to have some more intelligent and social monsters that defend the train. Basically, they know the schedule and that the tracks are a favorite ambush location for many other monsters, so they set up shop to prey on monsters that arrive when they sense the train coming. The operators encourage the behavior by tossing out a train car full of biomass for them once they're done to sweeten the deal and ensure they keep doing it next pass of the train. It'd be nice to show intelligent Earthborne nonhumans that emerged in the wake of the First Tide that realized that they can form symbiotic relations with humans in order to improve their survival chances.

Kote's chronicles

Hmm might want to let us know if you want the animals abilities to be cannon fodder, overwhelming abilities that one person on the train just happens to have a direct counter for, or something else.

JL

Flying sharks with lasers attached to their heads.

Gerald Monroe

You know this train would work a lot better if it were a road train on gigantic wheels. That way you don't have to maintain the tracks and can keep changing routes. More interesting enemies are things that require an approach other than "fire more bullets because they swarm and are bullet sponges"

Derek Engols

Cows's, just laying across the track with powers that are ridiculously defensive in nature, protected by bulls that are offensively powered in nature.

LordDark

A murder of crows with acid poop. Exploding rabits. Cows with sonic moooooos. And my personal favorite supersized frogs can halt all momentum.

Lokino

A pair of Mockingbirds with powers affecting perception, Such as optical and auditory illusions.

Zed

Holy Grail - Killer Bunny

Ford-Thomas Frank Loveland

Hermit Crabs wearing broken tinker mechs as shells. Make some of the mechs replicator tech to increase the connection to replicator

Lentitudo

Giant baracudas, who've evolved to swim through air, and whos teeth alter the hardness or viscosity of whatever they bite, so anything they bite becomes either super brittle or just playdough, could otherwise do land-morays, with similar powers that enable them to dig into the rockbed

Brice Shriver

Hyenas that laugh, and the sound is sonically amplified to weaken steel or whatever the train is made out of. Parrots with mind control like sirens from Greek mythology.

Jackson Andrews

A probability starfish. it's just a big starfish, not all the durable that wants to eat the train like it's a big clam. but it naturally affects probability around it, making machines fail randomly, and powers go a little crazy. Supers get stuck in the rec room etc...

Lentitudo

So kinda like a luck generator for it self, but wait "Luck isn't a superpower, it isn't very cinematic now is it" XD

Derek Allen

Giant chickens, cut there heads off and they will still try attacking then give them some acid blood or something so they are really dangerous after death. listen to the song “chicken attack”

Thomas

The crabs need to emit psychic waves that cause nausea or amnesia too. Their natural psychic capabilities could help prevent damage instead, like an extra psychic shell.

Thomas

You could have a kitten attack, their cuteness is the weapon. No supers could hurt something that cute and the conductor has to stop the train because they explode with dimensional blood that causes everything it touches to be taken to a random dimension, but just the portion of the object that the blood touches.

Elijah Marsan

Goats capable of eating through and digesting anything, wolves that combine into a megazord of wolf, snakes that can stretch to insane lengths, deer that can shoot lasers from between their horns and run on air

Drac

Platypus which instead of the regular 80 toxins in it's venom now has 800. Also the venom spurs double as spinnerettes. Which it makes webs with, also bolos that it launches using it's tail with magnifies the gravitational pull between it and it's target. So a platypus that has 1: Venom 10x as toxic, 2: Makes spider web out of said venom, 3: Can make bolos with web that it's tail applies gravitational target attraction to.

Jacob

if it hasn't already been suggested, sharks with lasers on their heads

A

Giant ant-lion larva with terrakinesis or metallokinesis lying in wait under the tracks.

A

Near-invulnerable super-strong honey badger. Not giant-sized, just a tiny, vicious killing machine that can burrow through steel, tank a missile, and just f*ck sh*t up. - opportunity for some hilarity with this one.

Dylan

Ooo land sharks

Keven Leigh

EMP like from Pasific rim. It would work really well towards perry and show us some of his countermeasures or give him the idea to make those countermeasures

Jeff Casey

Flying school of mackerel that can shoot lasers if the school orients in a particular way

vagae056

"...The event that no one you know remembers who you are, you may assume there is either a Minder attack or you are a composite entity that has been regurgitated by" I would love the idea that Perry is actually a composite entity, although that would kinda ruin the entire story.

H.D.

How about a snail that has a wildcard power of protection. As in its shell is like a forteresse. And its behaving as a wildcard, the défense is based on the observers concept of defence plus the snails. As in the shell will always be hard as f because the snails thinks hard is better. But you add on to that what the observers believe is the best defence. So for an animal without shell it would be fur or whatever, but for robots its offence on so the shell is covered with tinker grade weapon and so on and so forth.

David Burchfield

I like the idea of an invincible giant puppy that just wants to play (with train), in an innocent but utterly destructive sort of way. Anyone who sees gets drawn into its aura and can't hurt it because they think it is cute. Only way is to trick someone into killing it without realizing what they are doing, or doing it by accident, or killing it without realizing what you are fighting (sensing it directly).

A

A swarm of giant super-speed dragonflies. Normal dragonflies have a crazy high kill rate; a swarm of giant super-powered ones would be insane. Along the same lines, praying mantises would also be a terrifying creature to face a giant version of. Those little monsters already manage to kill hummingbirds in real life.

Jeanean

A SNORLAX!

Dee

He technically is, though, seeing as both of his parents did some metepjysical grafting. He’s the definition of a composite *something*.

AssaultPenguin

We know that some creatures can inherit powers, like prawns. What if the replicators retrieved a seed from a superplant and planted it beneath the tracks. Maybe in an attempt to derail the train after wearing it down with other creatures. They could even have planned it multiple trips ago and been nurturing it for this moment.

Prana

One of the most destructive beast in the world is the common house cat with their natural hunting instincts so a giant kitten might be a great ennemy

Enaz the great

Lesser Minture mimics that take the form of things that midly inconvenience you there greater mimics that combine together to take the form of what shames you the most!

AssaultPenguin

Superbear. They steal its cub and drop it either on the train or on the other side if the tracks and mama bear is getting that cub back no matter what it has to go through. Bear powers could be basic size/strength/toughness, or something else. Maybe it can breath fire.

Wyavern13

how about as a twist, there is a highly intelligent land octopus that has triggered and is not aggressive per say, but is now hyper intelligent and wants protection because he realized that he is likely to die without help. and he becomes Parrys assistant? you could also have him be confused by wraith because she is able to do some of the things he can do. and of course he has to learn and appear as a walking octopus in a suite and tie. mustache optional

AssaultPenguin

Ant colony, but with emphasis on the weird shit, not size. They get energy projection from their acid sprayers, spread nutritious fungus that eats through iron wherever they step, and can command mundane insects to crawl into electronics or peoples eyes.

Reyhulko

they find a grove on the train path, it wasn't there > and we find that's a group of carnivore ents that trow adhesive/acid cone-granades and shots poisonous needles?

Sanairb

Land Beaver. Instead of damning rivers, it damns souls. Also, it blocks the tracks.

Adam Roundfield

Giant hermit crabs would love some overengineered train cars... All those quantum foam batteries, I wonder what kind of critter drools over the ethereal scent of quantum foam... People keep mentioning how we should engineer some organism to eat our plastic garbage, sure would be a shame if some mutant plasticvore swarm got a taste for trains... Also, ghosts are a thing, what would oversized train tracks do if a section were to be possessed...

Adam Roundfield

A swarm of feral Chihuahuas, mutated to be extra small and extra bitey... Cochineal insects, we use them to make red dye, they made webs on my cacti and when I sprayed the webs with the garden hose it was like the cactus was massively bleeding... What if the vault dweller character was made real, either some kind of real vault that has projected the character somehow, or just a kid playing the game who thinks that his in game character is raiding a giant train in the wasteland...

0xFFF1

Then the person that kills it will want to kill themselves for the rest of their life.

Chunq

Well you've got #15 on Royal Road's Best Rated all time as of this post. So run a gauntlet of some of the15 in front of you. Two time-looping insane boys, one magical and one tinker, an escaped factory farm chicken, literally Tofu from Super Minion (shapeshifter vs shapeshifter?), a red dragon, and the rest I haven't read.

Chunq

Wait sorry, the prompt was for animals. A giant gray magekiller trapdoor spider for Mother of Learning and a white rabbit plushie for The Perfect Run.

Andrew

Just to clarify are we going post apocalyptic Science fiction Supernatural Fantasy world cultivation world Or mixture of them. Because different beasts Or animals or abominations Fit better with different genres. or Are we just gonna pull something from D and D

BubblyGhost

Honey badger gives no fucks.

Mr Vidya

Metal eating deer, give them serrated blade horns and sharp metal hair. Maybe add some variants like bigger with heavier fur armor, or have them violently mutate and grow serrated metal bone spurs when they're enraged. Have them originally be an abandoned environmental renewal project that were never properly "disposed" of and wound up escaping to the forest, eventually becoming the base for the hyper-aggressive Replicator variants

Chris Gast

Large rabbits that accumulate kinetic energy and use it for jumping and for attacks. Slime molds that grow incredibly quickly when subjected to heat, quickly becoming giant pillowy goop the size of houses. Fruit flies which are normal size, but are part of swarms the size of small towns, which explode with tiny detonations for each fly. Skunks with human-like faces wearing suits, trying to impersonate humans, asking to talk about your warranty. Pillbugs that combine to form larger pillbugs. A large badger which moves slowly but can't be forcibly moved, only lured. An army of flying squirrels who have perfect coordination and armor piercing teeth. A tidal wave of mice which are continuously on fire; as the fire spreads, more mice exist. An enormous trapdoor spider with spiderwebs stronger than steel, but not sticky. - Thanks for the story so far, really enjoying it.

Zerith

Gigantic moose, the beasts are large to start with and will attack other megafaun over a imagined slight. Use a giraffe if you want to be puny. Also, demon ducks and anything that grows when subjected to powers but is weak to mundane stuff, for the record, I would say bruiser and other triggered punching it would be a use of a power, could/should be wounded as normal for somthing of that size with low end super strength though, we want a big ol beefy boy, not somthing that is justa lose condition.

LucasTheLost

Any ants, but fire ants are the biggest dicks about it. Not sure where this is supposed to take place, but a pride of lions. Wolf pack. Throw in some gigantism and Something Weird, and you've got some clean, wholesome fun for the entire family. Something Weird could include: all the powers of your favorite superhero (spiderman, Ms. Marvel... Superman), any number of essences, wolverine-is-a-pussy class regeneration (possibly to include involuntary duplication. Hack off a piece, it grows a new wolf, blow one to pieces... well shit).

Rhys Jones

giant cats that try and sell you things

melchi

There has been for shadowing of brain worms. Also not much has been done with technopaths maybe combine the two?

melchi

Another random thought sticking with the ant theme could be Rambo ants. The biome should be tropical for them not sure if that is a problem but they travel in swarms. The hive uses their own bodies to sheild and transport the queen.
