Washington city is mostly agrarian (farming).

They don't have as strong of a central government or standing military.

Perry's Franklin City is decidedly fascist compared to Washington City, which is more democratic, but also not as strong militarily as a result.  Now...what kind of worldbuilding would you like to see while Perry is there?I wanna make this trip meaningful Bonus points if a suggestion ties in with his adventures back home somehow.here's your basic options off the top of my head1: How are new cities colonized2: The history of the original cities (named after dead presidents)3: Other supers Perry meets on the wall and how they are treated by Washington City4: Major disasters that have happened in the past and might again?5: Truly evil roaming supervillains?6: How old is Solaris? How do weaker cities keep strong heroes from leaving. If they aren't basically fascist like Franklin city with one king super like Solaris, how do they not either fall to a powerful villain or fall because their heroes leave for better/safer cities?

BlissForgotten

8. Food being shipped to large amount of cities? What would happen if parasites became enhanced by the tide like whatever is affecting the monsters? The old "have to destroy food before it can leave no matter how incriminating it looks?"

Gaunt

Name scheme for dead presidents could stem from super weapon programs to defend the various city states. God help them if they ever raise a John Adams City

Thomas

Poppy growers find out about Perry's powers and want him to make super opium based goods that are safer for consumption. Washington city gets in on it since it could affect supers too. Possibly mushroom in an attempt to get prawns tripping balls to see what they will do. Both shrooms and poppy based products are cheap, its just artificially increased demand that makes their end user version expensive.

If they’re any horror stories about a city getting wiped by outside forces or hubris etc, it’d be fun if it was Carter city (any fun President tbh)

Kote's chronicles

So in America your allowed to have 10 bugs per pound of flour and it still be ok. Do they have similar rules for warped pests that might get into mass packaged products?

SunderGoldmane

It would be great if Solaris has been around for a bit, and he used to be called Mr. Sunshine. Perry finds out about it and uses it as some lightweight social blackmail.

Kote's chronicles

Also. Looking foward to what, if any, focus a city named after Garfield has. I mean, you could make it like the pres sure. But come on. The comic strip would be much more fun.

Wyavern13

origin story of heathers mother. possibly that she is secretly still alive, and thout that heather was dead this entire time.

Minnesota Bear Strangler

would have to include some kind of bizarre rivalry with a neighboring Heathcliff, then

SunderGoldmane

How about this new city being a meritocracy based on beauty. A society built with intent around the idea of “Survival of the prettiest”.

Findell

Perry should be using this time to come up with a pure tech based weapon like something from the other tech super users because the magical compoents arent always avaliable.

RainbowCatTopHat

Not really an idea for the city, but an idea nonetheless. I think a windup tinker would be really interesting. A tinker specializing in making machines that run on those windup keys that clocks used. I'm mostly imagining a terminator level robot annihilating monsters at high tide, but it needs someone to wind it up again every 20 minuets or so. To explain the power issue, I'm guessing the tinker's powers either make a machine that uses very little power, the windup mechanism is very difficult to windup (thus storing more energy) or it just sort of generates energy or whatever. Depending on how it works they could even make other robots to windup the soldier robots when they run out for potentially endless energy/operating time.

Mehdude

Druids like Poison Ivy or Swamp Thing, it seems like they should be a thing. Maybe they turtle up during the Tide or maybe jungles start sprouting in desserts. Also can plants trigger? What level of congnitios in sufficient to trigger considerings bugs are essentialy natures robots.

Jarloway

I think it would be interesting that after he looks into how the harvesting is automated he goes into a tinker state and accidentally creates a pseudo dryad lab assistant that is constantly trying to feed them berries that give buffs but can also shoot seeds and vines through a steel plate due to his reinforcing abilities, perhaps from some inspiration from using them on living trees along the way.

Anthony P.

He’s the peanut president. Pretty non-controversial IMO. But my main point was to have the tragic city be named after a President with no real legacy irl anyhow.

Bob

Rebels VS Federalists, but it's just as real/fake as Supers VS Villains

Fervent Fiend

As you've written in previous chapters, a lot is forgiven during High Tide. So I'm assuming that they'll see different forms of nastiness in Washington city, but mostly I want to see how messed up Perry becomes at the next level and how that colours everything he interacts with.

Carl Mason

Given the average size of these mutated bugs... I would hope one is too many.

Kote's chronicles

Ah but what if a bug mutated with some esoteric powers instead of size and physical power? Like how many lightning powered mites are ok in a bag of flower? Say one only has enough power to give a small burn to a person. I'm sure there are mutations that are not deadly and small in scope....hopefully at least.

Kingtie

What about were all the shirts keep coming from/ what's happening with Natalie

Kote's chronicles

I think having the standards for political and communal power being something other then strength or power itsself would be interesting. 1.) Like make it based on looks, which fits the agrarian city as you can have the city designed on beauty with lawns, flowers, and bushes that are trimmed into dinosaurs or something rather then built for saving space within their walled city. Complete culture shock for our MC who keeps wondering why some person with no powers is the head of the state. Even if she looks really pretty. 2.) Or make it based on their green thumb. Their election is based on who's ever family supplies the largest at the city fair, who leads for "x" years. Which of course gives him power to make it easier for him to get what's needed to always win. And stay in power. 3.) Or based on some religious concept where their God blesses their harvest. Bad omens means that their leaded needs to be replaced. This leads to their culture always looking at things going on in their lives as good omen or bad omen and influencing their choses to an extreme. " Like talking to a MC about some defense strategy and they find a penny heads up on the ground. This must mean the gods are showing them to go for it so they dont even bother listening to other plans. " And somehow it works out confusing and frustrating the science minded MC

Ungrave

I have to agree that I'm incredibly fascinated by the t-shirt lore.

RainbowCatTopHat

my current theories are that it's either caused by the system pruning excess timelines for energy or it's caused by Perry's high attunement messing with reality somewhat during High Tide. My real wonder is if anyone in the story will notice that the t-shirts are inexplicably changing.

Exolious

perhaps a family similar to perry's own who focus on using Gadrevan's spells and processes instead of Pelochard's

Dashaya Toney

Sorry to hijack this post but couldn't find a better place to ask: is the Systems of the Apocalypse series over? Just finished book 4 on Amazon but kinda confused because there's nothing on Goodreads, Royal Road, Amazon, or here that I could find more info on it.

Exolious

Or Perry could outfit the soldiers on his section of the wall with prawn guns and cheap suits of armor similar to his first and seeing how much of a difference he can make

Macronomicon

for now. Haven't started a fifth one. I may at some point, but I just wanted to set it down while it was still fun for me.

Crownfall

Colonization too

LucasTheLost

I'm pretty sure the trees from a bit before the Replicators were affected by the Tide

Andrew

Some day in the Distant future Paradox should colonize that magical world So you should give Hem dry run on Super world

Citrusyyy

Maybe show how different life is for regular citizens of Washington City is. In Franklin, they mostly go about their day with the looming fear of being caught in the middle of a super fight. And Franklin gives off that kind of megatropolis vibe to it. What kind of vibe does Washington city have for non super residents?

Anon

The disintegrator should probably be mounted on a gimble like warmachine's from iron man. The reaction speed should be faster and should have lesser misses against fast enemies if a computer do the tracking. The disintegrator is a light speed weapon, so unless the target can teleport, what it is pointing at should disintegrate. Idea for the Mk. 5. Arm mounted ones can become backup.

melchi

Maybe it is just some of my history knowledge bugging me but wouldn't Jefferson city be a better name for an agrarian city? If the cities are based on founding forefathers vision Thomas Jefferson was one of the most agrarian minded one. George Washington was a general so it seems like a weird way to honor him.
