Nice job remembering the blue eyed guy who was also present when Jinshi's old mentor was killed! I missed that part when I originally watched it

I completely forgot about the blue eyed guy as well. The new Pure Consort looks like an interesting woman. I read her side eye at MaoMao as slight interest in her. I totally love the sex ed idea with the consort. The Emperor is going to have fun with this. Jinshi does not want to ask his dad\ brother sex life. Goushin being the poor middleman between Jinshi and MaoMao.

Can't you just see the Frieren crossover working perfectly in this episode? MaoMao: Class begins! Everyone turn to page 6, chapter 3... and Frieren is just lounging in the corner, eating her cake, reading her smut and being like let granny here show you all the grimoires 1,000 years of traveling can get you!

Thank you for the comment and kind words! Yes, the Consort definitely seems like one to “observe” her surroundings. And I don’t BLAME Jinshi for not wanting to know his dad/brother’s sex life – it’s for the best that he didn’t learn about that whole thing! And yes, POOR GAOSHUN. I feel for him being stuck in the middle of them! Bless him.

Oh my gosh, yessssss I can! Frieren and MaoMao would be a DANGEROUS combination – and now that you mention it, Himmel and Jinshi are both…similar? INTERESTING. The fan fiction writes itself! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words!

The story of how some women didn't know until they were married that their husbands had been castrated reminds me a little of one part of a BBC period drama set in Liverpool in the 1920s called Lilies, only in that case it would have been grounds for annulment of the marriage. The political intrigue regarding Dowager Empress Cixi's continued reign definitely blaring a few red flags. But like you I wouldn't know whether to take it as mere rumour from the eunuchs or fact. I suppose believing their opinions on her cruel nature would also depend on what they thought of the Emperor's nature when he passed out such a judgment to Cixi. Yes they wouldn't have known then, but at that point the sex of the baby would have already been assigned and that's down to the sperm, not anything on the woman's part. As such it *really* doesn't seem like a fair way to declare guilt or innocence from a modern perspective. I did have to laugh at your Winterfell comment with the snow scenery, mainly because the string piece playing throughout the scene definitely gives me Game of Thrones OST vibes. The cinematography for the new Consort's entrance into the palace is so damn beautiful. I absolutely adore the use of colour and shadow. But whilst she has all her attendants following after her, in a way the whole scene makes me feel lonely. This is her entrance to her new home and yet her "husband", the emperor, is nowhere to be seen. And now my scenes where I relate so hard to Maomao!!! 🤣 Between the gathering of *many* materials to aid in her teaching, to how stern she was about Jinshi not being allowed into the room, to how she calmly taught before these noble women...reminds me so so much of all the times I've had to put my teacher hat on to improve on some of my friends' sexual education 🤭 I also love the varied reactions of the Consorts, but also their ladies-in-waiting (the latter of whom all likely have no personal experience unlike, for example, Consort Gyokuyou and Consort Lihua). Poor Consort Lishu's reaction definitely reminds me a little of Edgar's reactions in the discord 😆 Though it is also a nice little bit of confirmation that Consort Lishu is innocent, and has retained her innocence (in mind and body) throughout both her times living in the imperial palace (as the previous emperor's concubine, and now as the current emperor's Virtuous Consort). For the burning the papers I always thought it was similar to how nowadays certain papers get shredded before thrown out as an extra security precaution against someone using any information on said papers. It especially came to mind considering Maomao said Jinshi was going through bills. I adore how absorbed in thinking over the explosion that Maomao doesn't even react to getting grabbed and held up like that by Lihaku 😆 Also with the cat references for her it feels very like a mother cat grabbing her kitten by the scruff of the neck because they were getting into something they shouldn't have 🤣 Suirin is definitely one of my favourites. Just like the madam of Verdrigis House, she is not an old woman to be trifled with. But I also love how on the ball she is with keeping things running smoothly, and just the mere thought of her smiling face being enough to curtail Maomao's curiosity...at least in the dead of the night 🤣 Yay for the North & South love!!! 🥰 More people definitely need to watch that mini series and/or read the book. I mean I do love me nearly every version of Pride & Prejudice's Darcy that there is, but if I had to pick a period romance heart throb Mr. Thornton would be my number one 🥵 Definitely a nice link to this episode in terms of opinions on clothing being 'flashy', but also the mirroring of a pipe being a weapon that could bring harm to others if the embers/flame ignite the flour dust/cotton.

I’m behind a week and catching up! Haha! That’s very interesting about that BBC period drama - I might have to add it to the list! And YES, it definitely seems like Cixi really had no part in her own punishment or reward - it was all down to “his” part and sheer flip of a coin. There was SUCH a Game of Thrones vibe with the snow! I just LOVE the new Consort’s entrance - it’s gorgeous! But yes, it does feel “lonely” and the emperor is absent, not exactly a “welcoming” sign. Are we certain you and MaoMao haven’t taught the same course? Hahaha, I was honestly thinking of your discussions on Discord throughout this segment. I also love each of the consort’s reactions! Poor Lishu, though - bless her innocent eyes! But I am happy this means that no one has trampled on that innocence. :3 That makes sense with the “shredding” vs. Burning of the papers for Jinshi; install a recycling unit, sir! Lihaki and MaoMao have such a fun dynamic, especially with the cat vs. dog motif the two of them have going. Suirin is AMAZING. She’s such a quiet strength and you can tell how much Jinshi and Gaoshun hang on her every word! But yeah, that smile to MaoMao in the middle of the night? NOPE. Would never leave my room, haha! And yessss, North and South was SWOONWORTHY! So glad I got to watch it - I have borrowed Pride and Prejudice from my coworker, so that is next on the list! But it’ll be hard to top Mr. Thornton. ;) Thank you for the comment and kind words! Super excited for the rest of this season!
