*WARNING: I'M NOT OKAY DURING THIS*

Oof, okay, so first of all - the events of this chapters set were NOT what I anticipated, were not what I had envisioned the story leading to as a "climax," and I was left...very empty, disappointed, and feeling things were..."rushed."

I know that by the time you watch this, I will be in a MUCH different space than I was that night, but man...this was a hard read, y'all. And I will have to gather myself before diving into Volume 4! Please go easy on my heart!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Scum Villain's Self-Saving System: Novel Chapters 80-81 Reaction! THE END OF VOLUME 3?!

Yeah, this was a rough ending. I do feel like the ending is very much a sign of a young writer. I love SVSSS, but recognize the end of this volume is uncomfortable. Hugs and your reaction to this a valid and understandable.

I really do view the system as a villain in this story. It one of the few main pairings that I am fine with other character pairings. I love a Shen Yuan harem. I hope her revision fix some of the issues.

i commented on the youtube but i understand your reaction and i trust that as an adult you will know when a story even if fictional may be too much to keep reading, but still wanna say that you dont need to force yoursel at any point, i like how much you deep dive into your reactions and i like how much thought you put into these stories, so i really enjoy your reaction to my favorite one! and as for the story itself, i too feel it was a bit rushed and that binghe could have more development but i still enjoy his very flawed character, tho i get it's not for everyone, he is really fucked up sometime, truly the beauty of fiction, i'm also a victim of sa, and i cant stand physical or emotional intimacy bacause of it, but reading these things is really not a problem to me if it has a happy ending, so i understand, everyone has different levels of tolerance. I hipe you feel better and remember that you need to prioritize your happiness!

A break is probably a good idea. As much as I love these characters and world, I know that climax chapter can be rough to read, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t have personal experience with that kind of trauma. Honestly, I think you did a really good job of analyzing/describing the reason mxtx wrote the scene that way. Which is especially impressive considering how emotional it made you to read it. If it helps at all, I remember reading the extras in volume 4 and having a few different moments of ‘well that explains a lot!’ So hopefully getting to read those will help. If it doesn’t help enough, well, there are plenty of good fix it fics, au fics, and alternate pairing fics to help heal your heart, lol. IMO svsss has the best fanfics out of the mxtx novels. Which actually might be because of its flaws and the rushed ending and such. Makes more for fic writers to play with in their own stories :P I too wish that Zushi Lang had survived. He had his issues, but he was trying his best! Though, I feel that way about gongyi too. Thanks for the video!

Please don't feel bad for your emotions in this reaction. I literally had to skip parts of it in my first read. I know that I have defended Luo Binghe in other chapters, but this is the one that I just can't. This is my favorite mxtx story, Shen Qingqiu is my favorite protagonist, but Luo Binghe is my least favorite love interest. Because to me, it feels like he never gets a proper resolution or development. I like that we can see where his character comes from and how trauma has affected him. But I waited the entire time to see how he would improve and get better, and then Volume 3 ended like this. To me, the ending kind of feels inconclusive (not counting Volume 4). I don't think they have interacted enough for the ending to be satisfying in any way I don't like that Shen Yuan has to suffer so much for Luo Binghe, and instead of getting a thank you, he has to apologize and console a crying Binghe. But if anything, this is why SVSSS has the best fanfiction out of the three series ( my personal opinion). The other series, to me, are perfect, there is little to nothing you can change or add to improve it. But this has so much potential. As you said, you can ship Shen Qingqiu with anyone, and there's enough material that it feels justified. There are so many small things that can be changed and you have an entire new story. I'm just glad mxtx got so much better at writing couples after this

The system definitely played a narrative role in all this going down! Hahahaha, a Shen Yuan harem is somethin I didn't expect from this story - I don't know about any revisions to this so far - it seems a little late for that as she's published two stories since this, but who knows! But yeah, definitely a sign this is her "first" work and I'm glad she got better as a writer as she went, but thank you for the comment and the kind words! That means a lot! *hugs back*

Thanks for the kind words! I’m a real completionist, and I know some want to see my final thoughts on the story, and I’m several weeks ahead recording as you all are watching this, so it is what it is. But hopefully you all enjoy the rest of my rants and reactions to it. But yeah, I wish MXTX had given this story a bit more time to “cook” like she does with her later stories and gave our main couple more time to grow as one but we’ll see what Volume 4 gives us. I’m sorry you had that experience with SA, as well. I think mine was…graphic…enough that I just want a happy ending in my romance stories, but I also DEMAND communication as someone that values it so much. So to see it not happening with these two is my ultimate biggest disappointment…but maybe…who knows…MXTX may surprise me with volume 4. We’ll see. Thank you for the comment and kind words and support!

Well, as you all are watching this, I’m about 4 weeks ahead recording, hahaha! But yeah, this week was rough. So far, there’s just been one other week that’s been *worse* than this one, that I just recorded, and it’s been a doozy. But I appreciate the kind words and support! I am hoping that volume 4 helps to make this ending better. Thanks for the note about the fan fiction out there! And I wish that ZZL had lived as well! Him and Gongyi Xiao! Gone too soon! Thank you for the comment and kind words and support!

I relate to you hardcore with this comment! I LOVE SQQ, despite his flaws, and I’m aware I’m biased towards him - but I agree that LBH is my least favorite of MXTX’s love interests, and it’s all just my personal preferences. And he doesn’t have proper resolution or development, either, at this point and we know why he’s like this but like you, I’ve waited this whole time to see him improve, but volume 3 was so inconclusive and just rushed the ending to make it have a haphazard bow and they did NOT interact enough to be satisfying to me, either. And I don’t like how SQQ has to suffer for LBH and DOES NOT GET A THANK YOU just has to console a crying LBH. Nope. I can see why this series has so much fan fiction because it’s a really flawed story, but it has so much potential. I feel like I’m cheating on MXTX by going to the fan fiction, but when she hasn’t wrote a story satisfying to me, maybe that is the solution, hahaha! Now I just have to wait before I can into the fan fiction - that’s the hardest part! But agreed, MXTX definitely learned and improved! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Hi! First wanted to say that I always appreciate how you reply to all the comments on here. I know that must take some time given all the videos you post. Second, I’ve been going through your other MXTX videos while waiting for the weekly updates to this one. I just reached the second to last video on you mdzs playlist and in it you read from an interview with MXTX where the author says they were influenced by Wuthering Heights and that they found the love stories in there really exciting. I’ve never read wuthering heights, but in the video you mentioned that it is very angsty and that you wanted to shake a couple of the characters and tell them to get over themselves and communicate. Which reminded me of your reaction to some parts of SVSSS. So, do you think some of her writing in this first book of hers might be due to MXTX recently reading ‘wuthering heights’ ? If I’m remembering correctly, she read that in HS and also wrote SVSSS around the same time.

I hope the comments last chapter set and this set weren't too bad 🫂 The end of Volume 3 is a rough go. I did have a giggle at you saying Yue Qingyuan being a good example to Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe, mostly because of how suspicious you were about him from the start 🤣 Mo Xiang Tong Xiu definitely got us there with the reveal of Qi-ge and learning there wasn't anything sinister about Yue Qingyuan's motives or actions. The "miscommunication" that popped into my head for Hualian was San Lang making the comment that he had "a wife at home" and Xie Lian (for a long time) believing he was actually married to someone when the 'wife' in question, in Hua Cheng's mind, was Xie Lian 😂 Even if our viewpoints differ, which with SVSSS so far you've mostly had the same thoughts I did when reading it for the first time, I'd rather you be honest about your feelings and opinions of the story. Isn't that the whole point of watching a reactor; to watch them experience some form of media for the first time and learn another person's viewpoint and feelings around it? Everyone will have different thoughts on SVSSS and the characters, especially depending on the person's own personal experiences, but also I feel the life stage they're at plays a big role. Like you said, Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's writing in this book does have a more immature flavour to it, reminiscent of someone in their teens writing it. Likely if we were younger too when reading it then some of our viewpoints around the novel, and specifically Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe's relationship, would differ from our opinions as more mature adults. Definitely agree on Wangxian and Hualian are OTP for me. They just fit so well together and should not be separated. If I want any other ships then those are side ships between the side characters. SVSSS however Bingqiu is not a cemented ship for me as I could see Shen Qingqiu in a relationship (that may even be healthier for him at this point) with Liu Qingge or even Yue Qingyuan. But Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe, because of where their relationship is at this point in the story, don't feel like a "Must not separate/Not to be sold separately" kind of couple the way Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's next two couples are. Tianlang-jun not able to hate humans when he sees someone be resolute of finding a way where they can gain the outcome they most desire, in this case for Shen Qingqiu it's Xin Mo no longer being an issue and Luo Binghe safe from harm and its control. Loved the Lord of the Rings reference you made with Shen Qingqiu not willing to hand over the sword to Luo Binghe 😆 Personally though I do think Éowyn beats Shen Qingqiu on badassery, though standing up to someone you love and care about could be harder to do than standing against the Witch-king of Angmar 🤣 It is a hard scene to get through, I can't imagine trying to read it out loud without getting emotional. Especially with how descriptive it all is, but also being completely from Shen Qingqiu's perspective. And then it feels all the more difficult when Shen Qingqiu is left having to soothe Luo Binghe because he was unaware of what was happening during that attack. For me, I did read the scene as being non-consensual on Luo Binghe's part, because he wasn't in control or aware of his own actions, but also dubious consent on Shen Qingqiu's part because he wanted to help Luo Binghe, but also wanted it to stop. I do read some toxic BL stories, and some of the physical scenes can be pretty rough to read or look at, but none have left me feeling as jarred as this moment did. It's also *definitely* not the moment I'd ever have imagined the jade Guanyin amulet being finally brought back into play. At last we do have some communication with Shen Qingqiu making Luo Binghe realise that Su Xiyan *chose* Luo Binghe before he was even born, and every time Shen Qingqiu has done things it's been for the sake of Luo Binghe (with the exception of the few times at the beginning when it was more as a way to save his own skin). Definitely understandable needing a moment after Chapter 80 before you could be in the right mind frame for where the System takes us with Chapter 81. I do have to giggle at everyone ganging up on Liu Qingge for telling Shen Qingqiu that Luo Binghe was dead 😆 It felt like a nice little bit of brevity after the climax of the novel...though after finishing Chapter 81 I did question the sudden tone shift and end of the main story like that. I also love the conversation Shen Qingqiu and Shang Qinghua have regarding Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky's writing. Especially Shang Qinghua explicitly saying he has no issue with his novel having become what it was, or his male protagonist now being gay. His rant though about writing the kind of stuff that did well, in comparison to what he wanted to write, felt very much like commentary on the masses enjoying the same kind of stories over and over, over a more in-depth character analysis type of story. Also reminded me of some "anime bros" that will only ever consume shounen or seinen media, and take affront at other fans of said media having headcanons (or simply reading the subtext of some stories) about the sexuality of some of the characters within those pieces of media. Shen Qingqiu and Shang Qinghua's interactions never fail to make me laugh. Considering how small Shang Qinghua is typically drawn (both in the official artwork, and fanarts) I do imagine Shen Qingqiu having physically picked up Shang Qinghua and just tossing him to exit stage left 🤣 The end for me felt so anti-climatic and frustrating. There was so much that felt unresolved, and no clear communication between Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe about past events (not just the Xin Mo incident, but even as far back as Shen Qingqiu pushing Luo Binghe into the Abyss) before talking about them going off together. At least with Wangxian and Hualian they became fully aware of where each person stood in the relationship, all their shared past events, and the feelings each person had for their loved one, before they talked about leaving behind the side characters and finding/enjoying a little bit of peace. It does feel strange the plot holes and decisions these last few chapters, considering the whole story is Shen Yuan trying to fill in all the plot holes from *Proud Immortal Demon Way* and the plot choices Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky made as the author. Like you said, it definitely gives it a very rushed feeling. That line though "The story between you and me has only just begun", considering the previous part was in the third person, I thought it felt like Mo Xiang Tong Xiu speaking to the reader in the form of a narrator. Felt like a Fourth Wall break that she'd write more and take us on more journeys with other characters 🥰 I do get that it wasn't very explicit about how Shen Yuan felt about the character Luo Binghe prior to transmigrating. I do think extending the opening scene before he died and giving a glimpse into his feelings about Luo Binghe and *Proud Immortal Demon Way* prior to when he started venting his frustrations about how the novel ended (which I can relate to so many stories I've read, but this ending kinda joins that list too). Or if there'd been more given to Shen Yuan knowing such little details about Luo Binghe (like he remembered about the plants and monsters in the story), it would have helped make it more explicit on if he at least platonically loved Luo Binghe as a character prior to transmigration. Would make it easier to understand then if his feelings were induced by the System, already there and just developed into romantic love naturally, or that he somehow came to love Luo Binghe from being around him without any previous feelings affecting him. I feel like Zhuzhi-lang's death/learning of said death is quite the mirror to Gongyi Xiao's death. I can understand why Mo Xiang Tong Xiu chose to have him die, but it does make me feel bad for Tianlang-jun. Also makes the idea of him just with his nephew's snake corpse all the more lonesome. Please don't apologise for how this chapter set left you feeling emotionally, and made it hard for you not to cry about it when discussing it. It was a brutal scene, and it is completely understandable to have such a visceral reaction to it when reading or thinking about it. It honestly made me kinda numb because I just couldn't believe, after having read MDZS and TGCF, that this was the culmination of the story. And so, even after waiting for Volume 4 to be released, it did take me several months before I felt able to go back to SVSSS and continue reading it. Also can understand skipping over it for the discussion portion. Some of us have things that when seeing them portrayed even in fiction can trigger us because of our own experiences. You know I had a similar issue when it came to an episode in Season 2 of Link Click. If there's anyone who can't understand or accept you doing that, or feeling the way you do about these chapters, then I feel they need to try to be a little more empathetic/sympathetic that not everyone is going to come away from such a scene with the same feeling about it. Honestly Shen Qingqiu accepting Luo Binghe's neediness in that moment and just being like "well I just love him" felt very like Ariel telling King Triton "But Daddy, I love him!" 😅 At least Shen Qingqiu has known Luo Binghe longer and knows him better than Ariel knew Prince Eric at that point 😂 I'd say you're Shen Qingqiu until it comes to personal/romantic relationships, then you're more Liu Qingge 😁

Thank you so much for the kind words! Oooohhhhh, WUTHERING HEIGHTS - wow, yeah, I don’t like that story at all - honestly, the characters in it don’t and won’t communicate and it’s a relationship that’s - not really but in some ways - like BingQiu, so maybe that’s what it is as well, haha!! And wow, if she read that in high school around the time she was writing this?! That would explain SO. MUCH. Thank you for bringing that up and reminding me of that!

Honestly, I’ve been very fortunate that those commenting have been so kind! But thank you! I feel MXTX took YQY’s reveal and decided to make any character like him suspicious in the future, haha! But what a reveal it was! Oh, the miscommunication trope that MXTX gives us, haha!! At least with HuaLian it was SO tame in comparison. I will say, it’s WEIRD after two MXTX stories of “do not separate” couples to have her original one be where you can ship SQQ with so many people! LBH, no one else, probably, but sky’s the limit…or…airplane’s the limit? With SQQ. And thank you for the support - I’m always worried what I say may be taken out of context or put against me, but luckily, I’m not famous haha, so hopefully I can skate around a fandom canceling me, but I have been happy to know that there are those that understand where I’m coming from. Sometimes, when you record in an empty room, you have no idea how people are going to perceive your thoughts, especially something like *this.* I definitely agree that had I read this in high school or my early 20’s, based on my experience then, I would have had a much more tolerant viewpoint about BingQiu as a whole. TLJ was also such a character this set; I felt for him. I agree, though, Eowyn is more badass but SQQ is more Diva! 😛 I agree 100% - I’ve read and watched dub-con and non-con, but it’s not left me as emotionally rattled as this scene. I definitely had another scenario with the jade pendant imagined as well before we got to this point. I also agree with you on SQQ doing things for LBH once he realized LBH wasn’t going to make him a human stick, haha! The tone shift does make me mad a little at MXTX, to brush off such traumatic content with such a blase tone, but she was in high school and maybe didn’t realize how this could impact her readers. Oooohhh, I did love the confrontation with SQQ and SQH as well! That is such a good point and yes, those arguments; I should bring them up in the future because they bug me as well! I agree with your thoughts about the ending, too! So much unresolved and the main couple so underdeveloped; it left me feeling maybe how SY felt at the end of PIDW, and maybe that was the point? I agree, too, the other couples were fully aware and communicative with one another in their relationships and love for one another and it definitely felt more satisfying than this. Thanks for your notes on SY as well! ZZL’s death was so sad, especially considering they were tied to GYX’s death as well. And yes, it makes me feel bad for TLJ, too! 😢 Thank you for the support and kind words! And yes, after seeing how MXTX wraps up her other two works, this was a SHOCK, to say the least! Oh wow, when you mentioned S2 of Link Click, I know what you mean. That is a really good point, and I definitely can understand the need to not re-watch or re-live certain experiences when they’re laid out in fiction. “BUT DADDY I LOVE HIM.” Maybe I am like King Triton looking at him…or probably more Sebastian. Yeah, Sebastian. Haha! But oh my god - you know moments when someone “gets you” in a way that you didn’t get yourself? I am SQQ except for romance…and then I’m LQG. There it is. BOOM.
