Gaoshun is a grandfather at only a few years older than me...bonkers! Though it did make me think: one of my maternal aunts (who is a year younger than my Mum) was first made a granny when she was just 34. When I was growing up there were around eight girls the same year as me that ended up pregnant before they were sixteen. One girl I went to Primary School with gave birth to her second child two months before her sixteenth. Especially now, but also back then, I'm of the same opinion as you that that is just way too young to become a parent. Need that diva off between Loulan and Jinshi! 🤣 Agreed that the pacing has felt just right for this first season. They've done a good job on picking and choosing which things not to adapt in order to progress the plot and keep everything flowing, without leaving out anything important. When I said about there being no mention of other offspring I meant in regards to the previous emperor, as I thought that might have been who the commenter was referring to rather than the current emperor. The only lineage that is known from him is the current emperor and his brother. I had forgotten about the mentions of the current emperor's other children passing away, so I didn't mention about them in relation to the current emperor's offspring. It really can make things even more complicated than they already are when we don't have names we can assign to the current emperor, his mother, his father, or his grandmother 😅 Considering Maomao's own past I would agree that the possibility of Jinshi becoming sterile from taking the medicine too much would be just an alternative storyline for them that I would not be opposed to at all (as much as kid AUs are adorable). This was my first time seeing these shorts. They were adorable! Chibi series are always a lot of fun. More anime seem to be putting out a mini series like this, at least on YouTube. But I would not say no to more series following the trend 😁 I really love the progression of Maomao and Jinshi's relationship shown through these short episodes. But it has made me realise I need more of Maomao hissing like a cat because of Jinshi 🤣 Also Jinshi's misunderstanding with the letter/description of the poison was hilarious 😆 Poor man is creating more obstacles for himself, and Maomao just furthering the issue in so many episodes. I'm glad the shorts finally told us what that plant was when Maomao was considering her own death back in Episode 9. No amount of researching various kinds of plants gave me the name of it. I definitely accept Jinshi's new nicknames: "loafer eunuch" and "honey pervert" 🤣 The bit on planting herbs by vegetables is why we planted a pot of lemon balm near our vegetables as the scent is supposed to help deter cats from coming near those plants. As much as I love it just being Maomao and Jinshi I would love to see some of the other characters in chibi form in this series if they do one for Season 2. Dungeon Meshi and this anime are definitely on opposite positions for the "(don't) try this at home" 🤣 Such a rabbit hole of researching the correlation between specific potatoes and libido 🤣

I honestly do NOT know how to feel about Gaoshun being only a few years older than me and a grandfather! My great-grandmother was 14 when she had my grandpa, though (wild story), so I get that it happened back then. Times were just different! Loulan and Jinshi Diva Walk Off NOW, please! I really enjoyed the first season so much! Family trees in this are so complicated! And the fact that there’s no name for the family other than Jinshi makes it even MORE confusing at times! And yes, while I like AU kids, I would not be sad at all if MaoMao and Jinshi ended up a childless pair - it would honestly free them of a lot of threats with Jinshi’s “familial obligations” and MaoMao worrying about not wanting to be a mom herself. And they could always adopt a kid, like Sun YaoTing! The shorts are adorable! I really liked the way they did this chibi series. Jinshi is just setting himself up for hardship this next season, bless him. And hooray getting answers on that plant! “Honey Pervert” and “Loafer Eunuch” are so funny as nicknames because other than the “honey” part, perhaps, they’re both sort of unfitting for him! >.< Interesting about the lemon balm! I’ll have to take note of that! I really hope they do this chibi series for season 2, though! And yes, it’s good to have series that connect in different ways, like Dungeon Meshi, but dang…the rabbit holes this series has led me to! Thank you for the comment and kind words!
