 *CAREER-SHATTERING HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

This episode knocked the wind from me! We see the aftermath of the Inter-High preliminaries and as two competitors question their stakes and purpose within the game - we see Smile, Kazama, and Kong setting their sights on other goals.

This episode was nothing like I expected and I'm absolutely addicted to this show now! Let's talk about it!

it's Peco, but I like that you call him Pico lol

I'm saying it as they said it in the show I believe. In any case, that's how I'm going to say it, so you'll have to bear with me. Please check my February update video section about comments! Thanks!

I took a moment to watch the comment part of the February update. Just want to say that you are doing a great job! People don't realize how hard it is to react to Anime. We really appreciate all the hard work you put into your channel. Thank you!

Thanks! I appreciate it! I thought at first your comment was "correcting" me and I said in the video that I was not going to be responding to those anymore, but I realize where you were going at, so thanks. Thank you for the support and for saying that.

This show just keeps getting better and better, I swear. Sakuma, in my opinion, did quit just as much as Peco did. Sure, he didn't leave the team, but he KNEW that by going to play Smile he was going to, at the very least, get a strong reprimand if he won, and be kicked off the team if he lost; which to me amounts to suicide and quitting on his part. Point in case, the samurai/ninja that we can see when Sakuma is going to Katase, on his way to commit Harakiri? I just loved that very visual, and yet subtle storytelling technique; and this show sure is full of them. The loneliness that cloaks Kong had me in near tears as well. He looked so vulnerable in this episode, even when he's putting a strong front for his coach. Kong's mom still sending him the candy boxes, but Kong valuing her stray hairs more... need I say more? He clearly misses her so much and wishes to just be with her. I didn't recognize Peco at the beginning! I was CONVINCED it was his cousin or something, because he looked really similar but also different, with the long hair and the chubbier built. The art of this anime is truly amazing because I don't think that's something that just any anime can pull off, with character designs often being super unique, and that making it hard to not be able to pick characters apart even when they're younger, etc. But with Peco, nope, he looked believably unrecognizable. Totally agree that Kazama saying that Kaio's team has demonstratively fallen, when we just saw them smoke everyone in the Inter Highs, is such a statement. What, exactly, are the expectations and pressures that the team is having to carry? Sanada's huge eyebrows hold all his sympathy, that's why Kazama doesn't have any eyebrows XD It is interesting, leaving all jokes aside, the very visual way to showcase he is opposite of Kazama, more relaxed; and maybe leaving his eyebrows was a show of rebellion to the incredibly tight grip Kaio has on all of them, seeing as he is literally the only Kaio team member who has eyebrows and all.

I wholeheartedly agree about the show getting better and better! I can agree that Sakuma did give up as well the moment he agreed to play Smile, since he knew the consequences; that’s a fair point! I respect him a *tiny* wee bit more because of all the work he put in, but maybe that makes it more frustrating that he threw it away, then? So much complexity with this show! The show did an amazing job with the symbolic visuals leading up to the match at the end as well! Kong in general and his story just broke my heart! And him loving his mother and missing her? MY HEART. Peco was SO different at the beginning; I love how the art showed his physical changes. I agree with you so much, there! And yes, Kazama has SUCH pressure on himself, but I think he’s projecting it onto his team in unfair ways. Sanada is such a recognizable character with those caterpillar brows! I am so into their side story in this series! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words!
