 *MOTORCROSSED HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Touga and Saionji have one last ditch effort to reach Utena before a final duel that could let Akio "win the game" in this series...but is it too late to do anything? Are the other duelists going to try and intervene in any way? And will Anthy say ANYTHING to Utena before she finds out the truth and it possible ruins their entire relationship?

Yeah, life is not fun watching this series......communication: there is a reason people study it, y'all!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Gay love almost saved the day again, at least they looked amazing together in their little scooter and side car. I totally get your criticism of the realism of the story being an issue. Some times it's hard to tell if we're supposed to be taking what we're seeing and hearing literally or not, and sometimes it's funny but sometimes it matters what is "real" and what is symbolism or what is just silly visual effects?

Now here's a happier reaction of another dreadful episode! Haha! Just watched it for the first time today. I'll take any break from Akio's School House story I can get. Touga and Saionji's motorcycle ride was so refreshing, Akio is just the worst apple. I hope Saionji tipped him nicely! The duel with Utena cutting apart all the cars to have them falling over the cliff was pretty funny too. Nanami, we miss you, come back! But it couldn't last, it all went downhill once we started getting into the Akio focused storyline. That power of memory loss is just the knife in the heart. It is SO FRUSTRATING and gross getting Utena kissing Akio on the lips this episode, yuck. When she walks in on Anthy and Akio, FINALLY she can't have a blind eye to what's happening anymore, as it is literally in front of her face. I just hope she screams out at Akio and bands together with other students. In regard to the pre-reaction discussion, I think it's important for viewers to be able to take a series they like or love, take a step back and listen to another's perspective, even if you don't agree entirely (the opposite is fun too, taking something you didn't like and maybe understanding it anew). You get nothing out of it if you go in believing there's only one right way to see things. Fandoms can just be too much for some series, gatekeeping and piling on reactions that don't please them, I believe it. I'll admit I love to see reactors gush over shows but at the same time it feels really shallow if they are unable to criticize major faults when they feel they exist. I watch a fair number of reactors and definitely some stand out more than others for certain genres as their personalities can fit the subject matter better, but the effort you put in breaking down episodes - very few do it as thoroughly and meaningfully, and you bring that to every series. Your analysis is so good and enjoyable to listen to, and that's even without you drawing on all sorts of knowledge you have to add to the discussion. In cases like Chainsaw Man where you bring comparisons from other series and show a deeper understanding than many (definitely myself) have on the show and break down the scenes with all that knowledge, chef's kiss. You just don't get that level of detail hardly anywhere else. The shipping is always a blast too! Thank you so much for taking the time and effort for it all, love your enthusiasm too, and how welcoming/safe you make it for anyone. 😊

there's a personal story i plan to share once Utena is complete. at that time you will have seen the three shows that helped shape who I am today. I don't think it would be spoilery at this point, but some comparisons might lead you down paths. one thing I do want to ask: when you are wrapped up, do you still plan on looking through the box set i sent? the art is really nice.

I do love that we had a nice gay love moment; and they did look great, right?! Yeah, considering a future episode on the “visual effects” angle *dark chuckles* it is a little sigh-worthy for me that that show can’t find a consistent foothold whether it wants to go for serious realism or be bonkers and goofy with the visuals - I’ve watched at least one series that has a ‘better’ handling of this balance, but it’s not too bad, just a criticism. Thanks for the comment!

Oh, I am very interested in hearing this story. And YES, so, my plan at this point is to watch episodes 37-39, then the movie, then the “after the revolution” manga that came out for the anniversary and then, since I’ll be gone on a trip at that time, I plan to take the manga with me and in May do a livestream where I talk about that manga, address the rest of the comments that will be there by that point, and give my overall assessment of Utena after having some more time to think and reflect on it! I hope that works! Thanks for the comment!

Hahaha a happier reaction of a dreadful episode! XD Any break from Akio’s Schoolhouse is accepted, right? At least we got a fun motorcycle ride! But yeah, Akio is the wooooorrrrsssstttt. I miss Nanami so much but it was nice seeing Utena chop up that darn sex car! And yeah, once Akio shows back up, it all gets sour again. I HATE memory loss in this story. HATE IT. I just hate that Utena was OKAY kissing a man that assaulted her. Nope. I would love for Utena to take this moment as a sign that Akio is no-good and needs to GO. I guess we’ll see. Oh yeah, I appreciate that you have such an open mind to my discussions - I realize that sometimes, especially if I’m emotional, I spit out a take and then think about it later and reassess it. But yeah, I’ve been in some fandoms where ANY criticism is instantly met with being told I’m “wrong” and “don’t get the series” when it’s fiction and there can be many interpretations based on our own experience. And yeah, if I LOVE a show, I will gush and fangirl all day, as one would! But I would never want to be “fake” and say a series is amazing just to appease the fanbase and get views. I really appreciate your kindness and support! Oh, Chainsaw Man! I MISS that show so much! And what’s a show without shipping!? Thank you for the comment and kind words! We still have some ways to go with Utena, so let’s hope it ends on a great note!! 😀
