*STRAINED HEADPHONE WARNING*

This episode was so relatable, funny, and has me rooting for Bocchi so hard already! I just want our sweet bean to spread her social wings and soar! The humor got me good in this week's episode!

NOTE: I am SO sorry for the vocal quality in the reaction and discussion - this was when I was about to take a break after getting sick, but I thought I could push myself. Boooooo. Anyway I hope you still like the episode and discussion!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

I just want to take a moment to say: Everyone needs a friend like Nijika.

No Spoilers! Only music! I absolutely love the music in this show, so I'll be listing the songs we hear (only after we hear them, don't worry!), in case anyone wants to check out the music on their favorite streaming platforms. OP: "Seishun Complex" ( 青春コンプレックス Seishun Konpurekkusu, lit. "Youth Complex" ) ED: "Distortion!!" EP1: "Oshiire yori Ai o Komete" ( 押入れより愛をこめて, lit. "With love from the closet") EP2: "8-gatsu o Yubiori Kazoeru Kimi to Machi de Deaeru Kakuritsu ni Tsuite" ( 8月を指折り数える君と町で出逢える確率について, lit. "About the Odds of meeting you in town, counting the days of August") - Sung by Alexandrism. Actually by Fuzzy Logic (an actual JP band, unfortunately no longer together afaik) EP2: "Cocktail no Uta" ( カクテルの唄, lit. "Cocktail Song") EP2: "Kaze Hike no Uta" ( 風邪ひけの唄, lit. "Song for catching a cold")

No spoilers, but the songs in this show, and the albums they released as Kessoku Band, all sang by their voice actors, but which one sang by which characters, you could find out yourself. Especially the Endings in this show, they’re quite matching with the story development.

Alex Kornejo

You weren't sick, your voice was just cosplaying sick Bocchi! P.S. For the shippers: Bocchi has given Nijika her dowry so rules say they now have to marry.

Alex Kornejo

Alexes love to hear ourselves speak, it's a problem

That 2-hour commute, I know, for a year I had a 40-minute commute to school on bus, and I thought that was long - just think of how many reaction videos one could watch in a year with 4 hours a day! I bet I could be totally caught up in a couple years, those sports anime and Attack on Titan length shows I have yet to start haha! And then Bocchi has her 6-hour daily guitar practice too! That's crazy, ~6 hours of classes (guessing), 4 hours of commuting, 6 hours of guitar practice (unless that stopped after middle school), I hope she manages to get some sleep, we're down to 8 hours left in the day and have accounted for nothing else yet, no homework, no meals, no chores or even free time! Girl makes it work!! Thanks for making it through the reaction and discussion! I was definitely looking forward to seeing it, and what a difference that day of rest made in the discussion! I enjoyed it all! I think I'll keep most of my thoughts together for until you've finished, it's difficult to talk about this show without unintentionally implying more than I mean!

"we're losing the club's inherent darkness" - Ryo Yamada. I love Ryo's sense of humor and constant "edgeness"

romaniablack

He really did! Oversharing front man! :P But it was funny and nice to connect for the exposition! Thank you for the comment!

romaniablack

Honestly: YES! We all need that extrovert bestie!!

I appreciate the no spoilers and the music is so fun in this! The song titles are so fun!! Bless Bocchi for trying to catch a cold - I wanted to get her away from that fan and out of that tub!! Thank you for the comments and this info!

romaniablack

I LOVE Ryo's humor - she gives slightly Aubrey Plaza vibes and I just love it! Thank you for the comment!

romaniablack

That's so cool! I definitely love the music in this show and how it all ties together! Bocchi's songs she makes are so funny and cute! Thank you for that information and the comment!

romaniablack

Ahahaha, I'm glad you all are such good sports about my terrible voice this week! Also, AHHHH, Bocchi has given up the dowry, so it's OFFICIAL! Let's ship it! :P Thank you for the comment and kind words!

romaniablack

I cannot IMAGINE a 2-hour commute! But honestly, that’s a great way of looking at it - that’s so many anime episodes you could do in a day! Hahaha!! Oh boy…the AOT reactions…now THAT is a lot haha!! I hope you get the chance to watch them one day and I’m all for the sports anime on the channel! AND the 6-hour a day practice! That is WILD! Yeah, how does she get to sleep?! I feel for her work ethic!! And ahhh, thank you so much for the comment and kind words - this was definitely me at my WORST and the one day of rest alone did help out a LOT. Thank you so much for your support and I cannot WAIT to see where this show takes us!!

KumiRei

I’m glad you have already enjoyed the music of the show, and we not even hit the performance in the show! It just shows how good the production is. And yeah, Bocchi was born to be a super rock star, her creative talent is the real deal. There’s more cool stuff of the band, all the music is played by four pro musicians and with the vocal each sung by our four main characters’ voice actors. While the show was airing in October 2022, the official started a project called “ギターヒーロヘの道”, it means “Road to Guitar Hero”. The voice actor of Bocchi, Yoshino Aoyama started learning guitar from zero, there’s a series of video list on Aniplex’s YouTube channel too. Then, in May 2023, Kessoku Band’s first ever live concert “結束バンドLIVE-恒星”. When it’s already the third to the last song, Bocchi’s voice actor just walked on the stage and picked up the guitar without anyone’s expectation. Yeah, she played a whole song and sang in the same time with other pro musicians in front of all the audiences, in that moment, the Guitar Hero in reality was born. Then, it’s another live concert “結束バンド TOUR We will B” in February this year, four of the main characters’ voice actors all walked on the stage and picked up the instrument then started playing a whole song together without the pro musicians. This time, no one knows what’s going on, the truth is that the other three voice actors secretly learned their matching instrument after seeing Bocchi’s voice actor’s first live guitar performance in May 2023. In this moment, the full Kessoku Band is completed. Also, that was the day they officially announced the Season 2 confirmed. All this live stuff got some videos in Aniplex’s channel if you are interested in after finishing the Season 1. I even bought the BD of their first ever live concert, just love this whole series so so much.

Mr X

Moar please.

romaniablack

Of course! I'm going to post new reactions to Bocchi the Rock every Sunday at 8 am CST! Thank you for the comment!

romaniablack

Yes! I’m excited to see more with the music and such as we go! Thank you for all the information! That’s so cool about the concert! I love they timed the band activities with the season 2 confirmation! That’s super cool! I may have to check all that out when the season is over! 😀I love when shows go beyond just the screen like that!

KumiRei

You’re welcome 🙏🏻 Love sharing the passion of Bocchi the Rock! It is made with so much love beyond the screen.
