I think your "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" was a proper reaction to this episode, hahahah. I'm really happy to see my favorite character (Lakan) again I really like how so many plotlines are connecting at this moment. Of course we still have a lot to explain, but the wiev on the situation is so much more clear than it was. I also low how when we met Shenlu for the first time we wouldn't suspect her to be character that is so important to tying so many plotlines, and there she is. I think it was very clever from Maomao to connect that someone could know about things that dangers pregnant women from notices that Luomen made so many yeras ago and this person should be someone who was in the rear palace back then and is in the rear palace still, when concubines were changed after late emperors death and servants usually have their contracts for 2 years or so. And the anwers was women from the clinic. I have a lot of respect for the author of a light novel when it comes to writing the intrigue in the story, especially when we are talking about long-time period intrigue. I'm pretty sure it was about Shishiou being colorblind and he was tricked into unconsiously admitting it by Lakan thanks to color of grape juice. At least this is how I interpret this scene. One of my favorite things about it is how when you know its Ah Duo instead of Jinshi you can actually tell it's her - she has a little bit different hair color than him and a little bit different eye shape, but if you do not know that its her you are sure its Jinshi .The animators really nailed both the small differences and similarities in them. And when she shows her face theyre both literally both the same and different in the same time, its crazy. The animators really put a lot of work into character design in this anime. All small things like hair colors, eye colors, eye shapes, face shapes...

MaoMao does have permanent scarring and a high healing factor, so she might indeed be the Deadpool to Suirei's Wolverine... And Last season she was the Sherlock to Suirei's Moriarty, Jinshi has now a rival ship in his territory and he might have shot his shot too early with the ox bezoar because now he doesn't have anything to counter Suirei dangling the resurrection drug to conquer MaoMao. But perhaps both will lose to the true OTP of the show: MaoMao & Kidnaping. Seriously, forget the emperor lineage MaoMao might have Princess Peach Genes or Eren Jagger. Also Jinsh off-screen this episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZOywn1qArI On more a more serious note, when she talks about them to others MaoMao is clear an precise in how she calls Lakan her birth father and Luomen her adoptive father, but its super sweet that on her internal monologue she just calls Luomen her dad, and the best doctor in china, which he might very well be but it's got real elementary school kid energy doting on her father like that.

If I recall correctly, Maomao first encounters Suirei while delivering charcoal to Jinshi's office, not his house. His office seems to be somewhere else in the outer court where court ladies and Lakan were able to come visit him.

I'm not sure why you think Fenxian died? Maomao said she wouldn't last long, but had I assumed a few years at least. I guess Lakan seeming to be in good spirits convinced me she was still alive but I suppose it could be an act, it seemed genuine to me though.

Luoman is so nice and this episode definitely made me like him more. He reminds me of Xie Lian. Definitely the ideal parent for troubled kids. I also want the tragic old man yaoi. People in fandom like making alternative universes where Lakan raised Mao Mao… usually they come to the conclusion that Mao Mao would be evil. Not in a shin or that other concubine who died way, but in a bored genius that causes chaos way. I’m curious to see if Feng Xin is alive.

Hello, Can you plz delete the mention to your second fav character for now… if I am guessing right it’s Lahan , no? For now no need to hint to Romania that there are new characters incoming , she likes to discovers that but her own . Also if possible to change the part about Ah Duo and Jinshi : (it’s her son) to (Jinshi). for now even if the theory and MaoMao’s conjecture are widely spread we don’t have any confirmation yet Thanks for your understanding

AHAHAHAA I hadn’t thought of it that way with Wolverine vs. Deadpool sooooo that’s wild! Oh noooo, I mean, I hadn’t thought about that with Jinshi and Suirei….oh noooo our dude…he’s gonna need to find that resurrection medicine recipe before SuiRei can lure MaoMao more with it! AHAHAH – the connection to AOT is hilarious, though! MaoMao COULD be as dangerous as Eren Yeager, in all honesty – we just need to be thankful she doesn’t have access to titan powers. AND YES! That link - Jinshi does in fact have “a specific set of skills” and I’m SO ready to see how he pulls them out in the episodes to come! Yesss, I love how MaoMao is so devoted to her “dad” Luomen - she definitely dotes on him…which you know…is kind of like how Lakan dotes on his wife and on MaoMao. ^^ This family, I swear! For how I remember how to pronounce Basen's name: think of how a sheep goes "baa" 🤣 You are correct that the show has not made the distinction on if the three sisters at the Jade Pavilion are from a family of noble standing. It's only been said that they are from the same area as Consort Gyokuyou and the others. We do know, with Haku-u's (the eldest) slip-up on calling Consort Gyokuyou just by her name and with no title, that they are very close to Consort Gyokuyou. Agreed! Give me my old man yaoi 🥰 Especially in the form of old friends reconnecting after a long separation 😍 I love, even if it is just Maomao's conjecture, the detail of Shenluu giving the servant girl a written note to pass to Lady Shin. Given what we've already been told about the education standards/abilities of the servant girls in the Imperial Palace a written note is the perfect way to pass on such information as the messenger would be unable to actually know what the message says. Lakan talking about the new design of the feifa creating a change in warfare as they know it really shows him as the strategist he is. Even the way he describes it ("It would allow for more tightly packed formations, and make travel easier") is also the way you'd describe movements of the pieces in go or xiangqi. Great way to show off his strategic mind be it in the form of games or actual physical battles. I was highly anticipating your reaction to not only the return of Lakan this episode but also Lady Ah-Duo! 🥰🤣 I think the anime did a fantastic job for any anime onlies on being deceived that Lady Ah-Duo was actually Jinshi. Definite props to them for that. Romania: Does that make Maomao Deadpool? A single reference just tempting me to ship Maomao and Suirei 🤣 Totally agree that Luomen helps somewhat corral Maomao's Lakan side. She definitely is much more shrewd than Luomen which I think can be attributed to both her parents (given how Fengxian was well known for how good a go player she was), but there is the possibility of her shrewdness also coming from having been raised by the courtesans and learning from the Madam of Verdigris House as well. I do love to see Maomao and Luomen together like this because we can more easily see the parts of Maomao that is like her Dad, but also the parts of her that take after Lakan.

The screams were so warranted this week! I’m so glad to see Lakan and Loumen in this! I love how this story weaves things together! I agree with you and have respect for the author - it’s hard to keep long-running plot lines threaded together like this! Yeah, I questioned that about this scene with Shishou but want to see if the show will give us the clues or not. So we shall see. And yeas, this show put a lot of time into the animation and hair and eye colors *coughcough* with Loulan and Shisui, but we shall see. Thanks for the comment!

Ahhhhh Baaaaasen - that does help! He’s our sweet (maybe not) lamb! 😛 And yes! Thank you for that clarification! *sigh* I’ll be talking about all these “clarifications” and theories in the intro of episode 17. I seriously would read an old man yaoi doujinshi with Luomen and this one eunuch in a HEARTBEAT! That is a great point about the written message and that communication not being noticed or detected by just anyone…at least, unless Jinshi gets the servant girls all literate - that would put a damper on such plans! Which we’ve talked about being one of his goals. Lakan describing his strategy like a chess or go game - I love it! After season 1 I just love Lakan being back in this and Ah-Duo showing up as well! The family is gathering!! Yes, for all the anime team makes “obvious” to us detail-wise, sometimes, I love this turn around they did! It got me! If I didn’t support Jinshi x MaoMao so hardcore, it would be TEMPTING to ship MaoMao with SuiRei - I just don’t want to do that to Jinshi; he has it rough enough! 😛 And I’m super happy that MaoMao has Luomen to raise her – Lakan is terrifying ENOUGH…having MaoMao be a little more reserved or grounded is not a bad thing! 😛Thank you so much for the comment and kind words!
