Loved the reaction and discussion! Very cute thumbnail! And so nice to see some actual long-form BL on the channel again. 🥰 All the partially exasperated Adachi-commentary was so funny to me. “Figure it out, Adachi!” 😂 And so many emotions in the first episode, already. Also agree with how great it was that we got their different perspectives including Kurosawa's internal monologue in some moments when Adachi wasn't touching him. Really looking forward to the rest of this journey and cannot wait for next week! 🍒

Cherry Magic = Because he hasn't popped his cherry Adachi gets magic powers 🤣 The full title though is a mouthful 😏 You know I love my tropes, so to get so many (especially a kabedon) in the first episode immediately cemented this show as a must watch as it aired weekly 😂 I love that they're pretty quick on shutting down Adachi's theory it's all been an hallucination, but especially how they go about it. Having Kurosawa take note of a mole in a place Adachi is unlikely to have noticed before (without contorting to specifically look at it) is such a good way of confirming that nope, the magic mind-reading powers are real. For me the moment of Adachi worrying Kurosawa will do something to him but instead is just kind and gives him a scarf is such subtle commentary on the difference between fantasy and reality. In Kurosawa's mind he can fantasise about Adachi and his feelings for him, but in real life it isn't okay to carry out those desires without Adachi's implicit consent. The money flying away as Adachi bemoans having to get a taxi instead of a train is one I feel quite a lot. In Tokyo the most expensive train fare for getting around Tokyo is about ¥330 (~£1.70/~$2.30). Taxi fare however could cost you, especially at that time of night when the trains have stopped running, around ¥5000 (~£26.20/~$35.10). This show is so good at pulling you in to the cuteness that is Kurosawa and Adachi before walloping you out of nowhere with the sudden angst of Adachi running away 😂 Honestly an effective way of getting you to watch more though. The Ending is sung by our two main seiyuu by the way 🥰 A magic ability for remaining a virgin for thirty years is definitely an interesting concept, but it definitely depends on the magical ability. Reading thoughts isn't an ability I think I'd want to have personally. Though if it's only triggered by touch that might not be as bad as just constantly hearing people's thoughts a la Professor X or Jean Grey from X-Men. Completely with you on living in an area that, typically, if a man is as well-polished and takes care of himself and his looks like Kurosawa does then there's a much higher chance that he is as far away from straight as he can possibly get. It is (slowly) becoming seen as more "acceptable" for straight men to take more care in their appearance here, but by that I mean that all the straight men in my life have discovered the wonders of shaving balm for after shaving their beards, but they still use the same shower product to wash their hair, face, and body 😂 I believe though in Japan it is much more the norm to be more conscientious about their looks as it's considered more attractive to look "clean and tidy". Agreed that Kurosawa having the semi-explicit thoughts about Adachi really shows that he's human, and not this perfect kind being Adachi thinks of him as. Also a very good way of showing that you can't always tell what someone is thinking, considering how straight-faced Kurosawa was while fantasising about Adachi's mole 😂 Just a small correction for the fantasy moment with all the multiple Adachi's in Kurosawa's head: there is writing at the bottom of the screen that says "Fantasies over a certain number of words are expressed as images". So in that moment Kurosawa's brain went on overdrive with the Adachi fantasies and the images shown are what Adachi saw inside Kurosawa's head. Boyfriend/girlfriend shirt is definitely way more romantic than someone having a pair of pyjamas they picked out for me in a style they thought would suit me, in my exact size. Honestly in real life it would give off a little bit of obsessive/potential serial killer vibes 😅 I am not a breakfast girl, but if a guy was willing to cook me dinner or make me lunch every day I'd definitely be down for that. To alleviate the feeling of being a mooch though I'd insist on us splitting the grocery bill 😆 The thing with the payment for the BBQ "date" is that it was supposed to be Adachi's repayment to Kurosawa for helping him out with work. By Kurosawa paying for it, it left Adachi still needing to pay back Kurosawa for the help he gave him at work. This part I do think is more intrinsically linked with social norms in Japan in regards to reciprocation, rather than date etiquette. For example, we were told before going to Japan that while you don't tip in Japan you can give a little gift to hotel staff as thanks, but they will feel the need to reciprocate. As such we got given a wrapped present of some pretty soup spoons from the ryokan owner where we stayed in Kyoto. All I will say about Mr Glasses: his seiyuu is Furukawa Makoto. Same voice actor for Kindaichi from Haikyuu!!; Sherlock from YuuMori; Shorter from Banana Fish; Taiju from Dr Stone; and Ear from Vinland Saga.

The title surprised me too! I looked it up to watch the first episode & realized how long it actually was. 🤣 I had no idea that this series had a live action… show? I figured it’d have a manga & I’m glad to know there are both! I’m honestly gonna stay anime only too. At least for the time being. This first episode has a lot of good moments and yes!! It feels good to be watching a BL. I think my fav moment was the BBQ “date”. Kurosawa trips a bit and almost calls his crush cuteeee. Eeee- that melted my heart! It IS neat that we hear a bit on his own monologue without having Adachi touch him. 💕 So yeah, I’m happy that I really like our two main leads so I'm excited to learn more about them and not just the world we are set in. Tuesdays are gonna be lovely now that this is gonna be part of my weekly routine with you 💖

Yes, this was an amazing first ep and reaction /discussion of it ❤️❤️ As you mentioned I love the Golden retriever / grumpy Cat dynamic so much in BL It’s one of my favorite dynamic and ground to a lot of fun interactions Adachi gaining his ability because he hasn’t had sex or remained pure (whichever perspective we want to label it) reminds me of WKX from WOH saying in ep 5 that ZZS doesn’t fear ghosts because he is a virgin So it’s somehow a myth or grandmother tale used in fiction I think, that remaining a virgin until your thirties can grant you *unusual* abilities I wouldn’t want to hear other people’s thought, because that would be exhausting but also that would drastically reduce my social circle 😂😂😂 Kurosawa is so sweet, I like that the series showed that no matter how much he loved and fantasize about Adachi in his head (well not entirely as Adachi can hear them 😂😅😅) but still his actions remain respectful and he never crossed a line, which instantly makes me like him an awful lot! I m so excited for you to watch more of Cherry Magic 🍒

Adachi - I love him and get him - but mannnn - I want to hug him and just shove him in Kurosawa's open arms, hahaha!! There is already emotions, angst, and all that jazz! I also really like that we're getting hints of Kurosawa's internal monologue - that helps so much! I have only watched this episode so far, but I'm so excited to dive into this series!! Yeah, I know there’s a live action show/movie because it was touted to me before the anime was announced. It feels so good watching a straight up BL again in long-form! The BBQ Date was adorable! And Kurosawa just as nervous as Adachi is makes me smile – I’m glad that we have some of his monologue as well. I really am looking forward to seeing where this series takes us! OOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH….well. Now that title makes sense. Ahem. This series immediately going through so many tropes with BL was wild! That is SUCH a true and good statement to make about fantasy vs. reality and how this series posits itself in reality, compared to other…series…we won’t talk about right now! *pin this for a video I’ll be doing this summer about another series I may be reading and taking notes on my own about right now* Taxis are expensive in the US, or “Ubers” - luckily (or not) our rural area doesn’t really have those, so I don’t have to spend a lot of money on it. But it kind of stinks if you don’t have a car because our public transportation in this area is a little sketchy. I really love the cuteness of these two already, but yeah, they don’t hold back on hitting you with the angst IMMEDIATELY! That is adorable about the VA’s singing the ED, though! The idea of the telepathy triggered by touch gives it a nice boundary, but I still don’t know if I’d want it, considering how invasive it is. Unless I’m in a spy story, maybe! 😛 I try not to judge men on their sexuality based on their “hygiene habits” and I can absolutely see cultural differences in that - I’m basing a lot on personal experience growing up and in college, but I’m glad more and more heterosexual men I know are accepting that it’s FINE to do some self-care and be socially stigmatized for it. Yes, I like that Kurosawa is a kind person, but maaaaaybe not the paragon Adachi has built him up to be and it’s great that Adachi can immediately get that confirmed for him. OH! SO Adachi CAN see what Kurosawa was imagining? That’s…interesting. I 100% agree that if someone in real life had a pair of pajamas there in my size…I’d consider that a red flag and maybe run for the hills - but glad Kurosawa (to our knowledge so far) isn’t a serial killer! 😛 That said, breakfast foods are some of my FAVORITES so I would be down for Kurosawa’s antics immediately! And splitting the grocery bill makes all the sense; I’ll happily chip in money if someone else is cooking it, haha! I did get that about the date - I just felt bad for Kurosawa, who saw it as a sneaky way to keep Adachi having meals with him. That’s interesting about Megumi-chan’s VA! I loved this episode so much! I’m so happy to have a BL on the channel again! I love a good Golden Retriever top – I mean, character, to our Grumpy Cat! ^^ That is a HILARIOUS tie-in to WOH! ZZS and Adachi already have quite a bit in common! That’s interesting about the “myth” and ties into fiction! I would NOT want to hear people’s thoughts - sometimes ignorance is bliss! XD I really appreciate how Kurosawa is respectful and DECENT in reality, despite how he may desire Adachi - some other BL characters could…learn from him! ;) Thank you so much for the comment and kind words!
