*ENCORE-WORTHY HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Bocchi and her band are performing at the high school culture festival -- but will it all go according to plan? With Bocchi, NOTHING ever goes "perfectly" but this episode had so many fun surprises and was a beautiful and hilarious way to round out the first season!

I will definitely be doing a "Song Ranking" video next month, where I can go over any comments from Episode 11 and 12 I didn't talk about in these reactions, but I have LOVED this journey with Bocchi so far and cannot wait for Season 2!

No Spoilers! Only music! (and some discussion on music-related scenes, tee-hee) I absolutely love the music in this show, and since this is the FINAL episode in season 1, here is a list of all the songs that appear in the show, in case anyone wants to check out the music on their favorite streaming platforms. This episode goes straight into the first song of the concert, "Wasurete Yaranai" ("Never Forget"), sung by Kita, and is probably my 2nd favorite song by them. During the second song "Seiza ni Naretara" ("To Become a Constellation"), also sung by Kita, Bocchi's E-string snaps right before her solo. She decides to re-tune the B-string to compensate, but the peg breaks. And now we see the result of all of Kita's extra practice as she's able to cover for Bocchi for a little bit by performing her own solo. (This may be what Bocchi noticed at the end of episode 11 after their practice session, that Kita has gotten a lot better, but that may just be my head canon). What Bocchi does with the glass jar is a technique often used in blues. Often called either "bottleneck guitar" or "slide guitar", it's a technique where a cylindrical object is used to slide along the strings, producing a smooth, sustained sound. I'll copy/paste a reddit post that does a pretty good job explaining why she did this: "She's using the glass as a slide to bypass the frets that make the notes. The frets are a set distance apart to make the string vibrate at the right Hz to match the note intended when the guitar is in tune. Her guitar was not in tune anymore and the slide can play between the frets so she can guess at the notes and play more by ear." I'm not a musician by any definition of the term, but I know that pulling this off on the fly, during a live concert, on a guitar solo she's probably never played with a slide, shows exceptional skill and adaptability. If you want to see an actual live demonstration of this, here's a video on Aniplex's official channel of the studio guitarist for this song, Mitsui Ritsuo, performing Bocchi's part of this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wAQRxcLUeE And finally, our last new song of the season: The 4th ED, "Korogaru Iwa, Kimi ni Asa ga Furu" (lit. "Rockn' Roll, Morning Light Falls on You"), and the first and only song (so far) sung by our loveable introvert with crippling social anxiety, Hitori Gotoh. There are even more songs by Kessoku Band, that if so inclined can be found on your favorite music streaming platforms (Just search for Kessoku Band or 結束バンド), but I won't be listing them here because HOPEFULLY we'll hear them in season 2! (Singer names listed with given name first) Kessoku Band: OP: "Seishun Complex" ( 青春コンプレックス, lit. "Youth Complex" ) - Kessoku Band, sung by Ikuyo Kita ED1 (ep 1-3): "Distortion!!" - Kessoku Band, sung by Ikuyo Kita ED2 (ep 4-7): "Karakara" ( カラカラ, lit. "Clatter" ) - Kessoku Band, sung by Ryo Yamada ED3 (ep 8-11): "Nani ga Warui" ( なにが悪い, lit. "What is Wrong With" ) - Kessoku Band, sung by Nijika Ijichi ED4 (ep 12): "Korogaru Iwa, Kimi ni Asa ga Furu" ( 転がる岩、君に朝が降る, lit. "Rockn' Roll, Morning Light Falls on You" ) - Kessoku Band, sung by Hitori Gotoh EP5: "Guitar, Loneliness and Blue Planet" ( ギターと孤独と蒼い惑星[ホシ] ) - Kessoku Band, sung by Ikuyo Kita EP8: "That Band" ( あのバンド ) - Kessoku Band, sung by Ikuyo Kita EP12: First concert song: "Wasurete Yaranai" ( 忘れてやらない, lit. "Never Forget" ) - Kessoku Band, sung by Ikuyo Kita EP12: Second concert song: "Seiza ni Naretara" ( 星座になれたら, lit. "If I Could Be a Constellation" ) - Kessoku Band, sung by Ikuyo Kita Other Bands: EP2: "8-gatsu o Yubiori Kazoeru Kimi to Machi de Deaeru Kakuritsu ni Tsuite" ( 8月を指折り数える君と町で出逢える確率について, lit. "About the Odds of meeting you in town, counting the days of August") - Sung by Alexandrism. Actually by Fuzzy Logic EP3: "Dakishime Magic" ( 抱きしめMagic, lit "Hug Magic") - by AKORINGO EP10: "Watashi Dake Yuurei" ( ワタシダケユウレイ, lit "I'm the only ghost" ) - by SICK HACK, sung by Kikuri Hiroi Bocchi's mini-songs: EP1: "Oshiire yori Ai o Komete" ( 押入れより愛をこめて, lit. "With love from the closet") EP2: "Cocktail no Uta" ( カクテルの唄, lit. "Cocktail Song") EP2: "Kaze Hike no Uta" ( 風邪ひけの唄, lit. "Song for catching a cold") EP3: "Double Kokurekishi Bocchi Hikigatari Version" ( ダブル黒歴史ぼっち弾き語りversion, "Double Dark Past, Bocchi Acoustic Version" ) EP3: "Sono Hi Haitta Shinjin yori Tsukaenai Dame Baito no Elegy" ( その日入った新人より使えないダメバイトのエレジー, "The Elegy of a Part-Time Worker Who Lost Her Identify to the Just-Arrived Newbie") EP6: "Guitar wa Tomodachi" ( ギターは友達, lit. "Guitar is my friend" )

Zeekutar The Immortal

regarding the manga review. around 49:00ish they mention making 100 friends in school. this seems to be a reference to KOMI CAN'T COMMUNICATE since that was the premise of KOMI. Also, the cherry petals stuck in her hair. that is a common romance trope. most noteably seen in KIMI NI TODOKE as it is the beginning of the story.

Mr X

And our final outro of the season sung appropriately enough by Bocchi.

Mr X

Also burning guitar moment with the dad is a reference to Jimi Hendrix.
