I think after watching this episode I can tell that animation team really loves Kinta lmao In my last job I remember how one of my coworkers (we get along pretty well) drew a dick (he was 33) on a "counter" in a room I worked (this counter was separating a room between doors and place that me and the other girl has tables and computers) and I was like I'm going to murder you dude and drew him a dick (I was 29) on one of his boxes in a room he was packing packeges with our goods. That was such a good times

Yeah the animation team really loves Kinta since they gave him a whole anime original I was here this whole time moment 😂

To add even further context to the class president's misunderstanding in episode 7 Momo's friends come to the classroom to whisk Okarun away to go to the cafe and he's yelling and fighting them off and the anime zooms in to the class president watching them in the background to foreshadow that she is going to have her own assumptions about what is going on with Okarun. She thinks Okarun is being bullied by Momo and her friends which isn't the case at all.

I think while Kinta has been imitating Okarun by reading the SciFi magazines at school I think his love of gundams and SciFi preceded the moment where he saw Momo and Okarun getting along. The song he sings is called Here comes Char which is the theme song of one of the characters in Mobile Suit Gundam. I went back and checked episode 5 (season 1), no Kinta to be seen, so strange! I wonder what that means, would have been fun to have had him a few times in the background! Did he just retcon his own backstory? My initial thought was maybe he's a spirit or yokai himself, but we do have dialog with him and the class president so that can't be it. I'm sure it's just he was just outside the camera every time - but in the kiss scene he stood right front and center between Momo's girlfriends, so I got nothing! Maybe the show will tell us, or maybe it gets swept under the rug like the destroyed buildings and districts! I agree less dick/etc humor wouldn't be a bad thing, but this is perhaps more of a Carnival cruise than a Regent Seven Seas cruise! I got a kick out of your reaction of it almost being a recap episode at the beginning, I also loathe recap episodes! So that was fun, when I watched it initially and thought oh this feels a bit cheap, I knew you wouldn't disappoint! When my daughter and I were watching One Piece (made it a 100+ episodes in) that got to be too much with the recaps every episode too, sometimes it felt like the first 5 minutes is a recap of the episode we just saw, haha! To go on a further tangent, and more reason to hate recaps, if you ever get them at the beginning of a long running series, they honestly feel like spoilers! Like, let's recap this random scene from 3 seasons ago to make sure you didn't forget it, because it's coming back in this episode! Then when it hits, it's not really a surprise because you knew it was coming from the recap! Ugh!

A lot of people either didn’t understand or hated the class president for trying to stick up for okurun but I appreciated it. From her perspective it probably does look like momo and her friends are bullying him. They dragged him out of the class not too long ago lol.

Gosh, this episode was hilarious xD The introduction to this new character had me laughing so hard. After the little cliffhanger they left us with last episode I wasn't too enthused about him, I'll admit, thinking that he was just going to be another copy of Okarun, that doesn't seem to be the case. I like that he isn't fixed in Momo or Aira, but the simple idea of fitting in and being "popular", something that he has now seen in Okarun. That's fun! Generally, I'm not much a fighting girl, fights are cool but they are not the draw for me, but the thought of seeing Okarun, Aira, Momo, and Evil Eye all fighting this Kaiju has me very excited, because I don't see a way where Okarun and Momo can take such a massive being alone, even less if he is powered by the golden ball that, if I remember correctly, amplifies their powers. I did love seeing Momo and Okarun working together seamlessly and comfortably to try to catch the golden ball. After all they've been through and their personal growth they can come together more confident and just handle a situation... for the most part xD We'll see what happens, but I did appreciate the change of pace of changing focus from Evil Eye to this new guy, not that I don't appreciate Evil Eye as a character, but I need the break.

Oh yeah, I respect the president for protecting Okarun in that moment! And yeah, I can see why it would look like Momo is bullying him, so I got where she was coming from! No hatred of her from me, haha! Thank you for the comment!

I agree; it would have been fun to have had him secretly there in the background, but at least it’s a fun addition. The fact that he’s retconning himself is hilarious, in a way! Sometimes DanDaDan just changes its own logic and I guess it’s a matter of if the audience is willing to accept that or not? Like with the buildings and collateral damage, etc. AHAHAHA – “more of a Carnival Cruise than a Regent Seven Seas Cruise” - as someone that’s only ever been on a Carnival Cruise once…I know what you mean! ;) Oh, I loaaaaath recap episodes, so at least there was the fun retcon element in there! And yeah, I’ve read One Piece off and on consistently since…2002? It’s been a while. But I only ever check out the anime for the hype moments because the PACINNNNG can be so bad at times. But I’m glad you got a kick out of my reactions! Thank you so much for the comment!

This episode was SO funny! I really enjoyed it; I love his idea of just being popular and that OKARUN is his model and muse to that effect - it’s great! I love the concept too of them all working together for a cause here - but yeah, a monster this big is going to be an issue and that’s a great point about the amplification of power! That said, I love watching Momo and Okarun work together; them as a team is just so satisfying! But yes, I REALLY was happy to just push EE to the side for this episode and let this new character shine, but y’all knew that! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

To me it seemed like Kinta first noticed Okarun when Momo was waiting for him at the entrance so i wouldn't think he would be copying Okarun before that (and that "suave" persona he tries to cultivate is the opposite of Okarun) so perhaps mostly the "spicy" talk that he adopts from Okarun? Many times in this show the collateral damage has been in the "spirit realm" and not real, but as the crab attack in season one showed sometimes it is. So here, real or not? Not sure but as we don't see any other people around i'll guess no. Maybe it's made clear in the next episode (which i'm watching right after this) but a kaiju battle in the middle of town would be quite devastating, so for all involved let's also hope for the "not" option.

Yes, the pacing is too much! I enjoy reading at a slower pace, but watching a show is sometimes too much which is why we love the live action! 100s of episodes of anime in about 8 hours! That and the casting! Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, <3 I'm dying for your reactions to season 2! I know you probably can't really be spoiled by the season 2 trailer, but I don't think you watched it, so it will be even better when it releases going in totally blind! But yes, DanDaDan bends the rules how it sees fit, and we generally love it for that!

That’s fair - it is an interesting debate of chicken or the egg - was Kinta trying to imitate Okarun at a certain point before or basing off of something else he saw? Either way, I really like his character! And yeah, this show is not the most “deliberate” in establishing other space or not, so I guess we’ll see! Thank you for the comment!
