I feel much more "at home" with the reaction and discussion for this one! Gon, Leorio, and Kurapika are on their way to the First Phase of the Hunter Exam, and it may SEEM simple, but you cannot judge on appearance alone. We also meet some new characters...that are VERY INTRIGUING!

Puberty hit Leorio like a truck huh?😆 I’ve been watching another YouTuber react to Ouran HS Host Club, and every time the twins pretend to be in love the YouTuberis naturally uncomfortable, and it prompts a bunch of people to comment: There’s nothing we can do about the Twins. Having watched a good amount of HxH, I now feel compelled to do the same. There is, unfortunately, nothing we can do about Hisoka 😔😖 Thanks for the video!

Hisoka's flashy introduction definitely grabs your attention, the iconic design, eccentric attitude and how little he cares for the consequences to others of his actions - as if one's life or in this case arms are of zero value. He stands apart from the rest of the applicants for sure! We won't talk about him too much now, but I agree with what you say - getting on Gon's bad side from his initial gut impression is most likely not a good sign! When you think of it - Hisoka has a little in common with Ubel from Frieren - they both failed their respective mage/hunter exams for killing their instructor during the test. Only I think Ubel is someone you'd much rather give some praise to, despite her brutal tendencies! Do you get a bit of Reki / Langa with Killua / Gon? Only way more innocent, of course. But the way they play off each other so far made me think of SK8 for some reason! Maybe it's the skateboard too haha! Looking up Leorio's age definitely is cheating!!! But you've seen it before, so I'll let it pass! :p Leorio saying he was a teenager was a big head turner for sure! I'm curious when we get Kurapika's age, I think you guessed 21? I totally don't remember! Thank god they didn't try and say Leorio was 13 or 14 haha! He'd be the kid going in to buy all the alcohol for sure (though at 19 he still is)! But perhaps Leorio just went to Ohtori Academy! 🎓 Thanks for the reaction, it was super enjoyable to just listen to so much discussion for HxH! And I enjoy the format a lot - it allows me to watch my copy alongside you. With the show's audio in the reaction, I can never get the sound synced up perfectly and end up having to just mute my copy, but this way is great for me! I can control both audio levels how I like! 😊

Yes, Hisoka is so iconic right off the bat! The flashiness and devil may care attitude is instantly attention-grabbing! Glad you agree - Gon is the “judge of character” radar for the show right now! And I can SOOOO see the Hisoka influence in Ubel from this first “impression.” Thankfully, Ubel does not give off….”creepy” vibes like Hisoka does here. Also, 100% do I get Renga vibes with Killua x Gon! But yes, in a much more innocent and slice of life circumstance as well! Imagine if Gon and Killua could just join the SK8 crew; that’d be amazing! HAHAHA, Leorio is way too innocent for Ohtori Academy – he’d be one of those bodies used for the black rose fights…maybe I’m not giving him enough credit! 😛I would guess Kurapika is 21, but I’m not 100% sure - maybe we’ll find out! I've been busy and so am just catching up now. Just want to say I really liked some of the stuff you pointed out even given you've seen some of the series before. I agree that letting Hisoka take the test again says a lot. I remember the first time I rewatched the series that struck me as maybe the clearest indication of some of the dubious stuff about the being a hunter. Funny seeing you notice Hisoka's VA. If you watch Haikyuu second, it makes Oikawa's deeper voice lines way more menacing lol.
