I'm going to be honest, I needed a week off to sort myself out after Episode 48. So, here are my thoughts on that. I appreciate you all and am ready to dive back into the series with a more open mind and enthusiasm as we round out Season 2.

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

I was really looking forward to the last two episodes because they're my favorites of season 2, but I completely understand cause some of those comments were uncalled for. It's like people can't accept that others can dislike a character they personally like. Not everyone likes the same characters. Listen, if a character is being annoying on my screen i am allowed to not like them, even if it's part of their writing. Taichi is a character with a lot of flaws, and while a lot of people like that, some people don't like it when those flaws show up too much and there's barely progress being made in two seasons. Yes, there's reasons for why he's that way, but it's still valid to feel frustrated. Also it's not nice to insult real people over fictional characters guys. Taichi isn't real, but the reactor you're hurting is.

I'm sorry for my insensitive comments. I really do enjoy your reactions and discussions. I was frustrated but what I said was harsh. I was looking forward to episode 48 and I guess I was taken aback. I'm really glad you took some time off to make a video sorting out your thoughts. I have never doubted that you love the series and that your criticisms come from a place of love and care for the series. I agree that Taichi has a whole list of things to work on and so I guess with episode 48 personally I was happy more than frustrated that we addressed one such problem but even though I defend Taichi it was frustrating to see Taichi regress because it almost felt like Taichi was throwing away all his effort to reach Class A over his crush for Chihaya. I have 10/10 series that I criticize as well and it certainly doesnt mean that the flaws make the series bad it just means that I can appreciate the series while at the same time understanding that it has flaws. Subconsciously Im sure some of the comments that I have written whether its about shipping or Taichi or Chihaya or Arata may have the intent out of excitement to try and persuade how people look at the character or the ship but I do try and be objective about how I look at characters. Im looking forward to enjoying the rest of the season with you and season 3 and Ace of Diamond as well. I've been here since Free days so I definitely dont want to add to your woes of being a Youtuber. Thanks for the video.

What I find really surprising is that you're being accosted by so many Taichi shippers. I was always under the impression that the Fandom was evenly split between Arata and Taichi when it comes to the ship. You mentioned that Arata doesn't know that Taichi sees him as a threat or enemy, but to me, it seems like Arata and Taichi understand each other's position better than you give them credit. From the time they were kids, they have been friends in Karuta, but rivals for Chihaya. To me, the main reason why Arata doesn't approach Chihaya or sends her messages is because he knows that Taichi loves her. And the reason why Taichi doesn't act towards her is because he thinks she loves Arata. I love your reactions, it's gonna suck having to wait for season 3, but I understand and I rather you react when you want, than forcing yourself to do so. I have a lot of admiration for reactors, people don't realize how hard it is to do live commentary while watching something for the first time. I watch reactors because I love when they offer a new perspective to a show I already love, as that often unlocks something else for me to love. Just last week I was watching a reaction to Youjo Senki, a series of which I've seen about 10 different reactions, and in the comments someone pointed out something that I had nevered considered and made me look at the whole series through a new lense. Anyway, keep up the good work, thank you for putting up with us idiots in the comments section! 😆

Dear Romania,

Dear Romania,

Cheer up, I am not leaving! I am an ESL teacher for adults, but I'm in good shape for salary as I work for our government! As a former amateur chess player, I loved The Queen's Gambit and Chihayafuru! I ship Arata and Chihaya, but my last post got flagged for a spoiler, so I am being careful. My favorite iyashike is Aria the Animation, but almost no one covers it on youtube. I could not get my son or granddaughter to watch Chihayafuru, so I have subscribed to hear your reaction. Please give it to me, and sooner rather than later. You are so much better than some others I won't name, so please stand and deliver! Like Taichi, I don't get touchy and feely (NOT a spoiler), but I want your feminine perspective. Regards, Clifford

While this upload is not what I expected, I loved and appreciated it all the same. I hope that you can enjoy the rest of the show, that the break can be a good respite, because truly, what’s the point of watching something you’re not enjoying? But if it turns out that you don’t enjoy it after the break I hope you feel free to drop it. I love your reactions, and your analyzes are so good, but the point is for all of is to have fun together <3 In any case, I can’t wait to see what’s next <33

Thanks! I appreciate that and while I am really excited to see these last two episodes and the OVA, I think taking a break will build up my anticipation for S3 even more! So thank you for the comment and the kindness!

Heyoooo, glad to hear you are an ESL teacher! That's awesome! I really need to watch The Queen's Gambit at some point! Ahh, and also glad that a fellow Chihaya and Arata shipper -- EXISTS! Hahaha! That's good to know! And thank you for the comment and kind words! I am excited to at least be able to finish season 2 and the OVA before taking a little hiatus before season 3!

romaniablack

I'm excited to get to these last two episodes and the OVA as well - but I didn't want to go into them with the mindset I had last week for sure! I appreciate your understand -- I can't say it loud enough that I'm rooting for him, or loud enough that I understand (and relate) to his flaws, but at the same time, If I want to critique them, that's totally my right. I appreciate your comment and support, so thanks! I'm excited to get to the rest of the season!

romaniablack

I appreciate all the support! No, I totally understand that people would disagree with me and I was VERY frustrated by the episode and frustrated that I didn't enjoy it because I knew in the back of my mind that this was an episode a lot of people probably enjoyed. It was a double-edged sword from the start. I totally get the vibe that someone would be more happy for Taichi than frustrated with how the match went - I'm glad he's finally class A! And YES, he nearly threw the match, which was a reason as well - but YES - there are 10/10 series for me, too, that I still critique as well - you're exactly right about that. I enjoy reading your comments as well and appreciate all the support! I hope to hear more in the future! I definitely am excited for the rest of this season and VERY excited for Ace of the Diamond -- it'll be a nice palette cleanser before Season 3 of Chihayafuru, for sure.

romaniablack

Honestly, I have rarely seen an Arata x Chihaya shipper come into the fray - maybe that will change with Season 3 but the majority of those commenting that I can read comments for are very Taichi x Chihaya from what I've gathered. That is a fair point about Taichi and Arata and their viewpoints -- I still think that there needs to be *coughs loudly* COMMUNICATION *coughs* between the three of them -- but this mangaka is very much against that at this point, hahaha!! Honestly, I was going to take a break before Season 3 before all this because I just did NOT have an extra slot in my schedule and I really want to watch Ace of the Diamond, and with Season 2 of Chihaya ending right as it's starting, it seemed like the perfect place for a break. But I appreciate that you enjoy the reactions! That's awesome about experiencing a show in a new way by looking through other reactors' lenses; I hope I can at least shed something similar in that vein! Thank you for the kindness and the comment and y'all are not idiots! IF you are, I'm on the same boat as you all. :)
