After a short break, I'm back into Yang Cheng's story, as his "new" role as E-Soul is put to the test this week! As his friends back up his decision to be a hero, the powers that be test his agency, and there's a SLEW of questions, revelations, and all sorts of things bubbling to the surface...hence a VERY long discussion this week! This arc is so interesting, parallel to Nice/Lin Ling. Two guys are becoming heroes by stepping into another hero's "mask" but in vastly different ways. Shang Chao :hug: Loved my baby while he lasted. The ONLY!!! The correct answer to this love triangle is a threesome :) heheh tho now that he's dead it's a pair, how funny how that turned out. Which, btw, when you referred to him as Ivan in your answer to my ep5 comment. I died out laughing, 'cuz they sure do have something in common. ;) "he's not even old enough to drink yet." Brrr WRONG (I think) !!! taken that he's graduating from college, as we established in the last episode. He's more than likely above the drinking age. Probably.

After Enlighter clears Yang Cheng's name I'm sensing a lot of insecurity from Yang towards Shang Chao and Xia Qing. They seem to have an innocent enough talk but Chen seems dejected. like he's a third wheel

The way I lost my marbles over the end of this episode is not even funny. I was really starting to like SC, he had seemed a bit sketchy on the previous episode, but had become a total sweetheart over this one, and I was loving seeing him been so invested in YC's abilities... only for him to go on and die at the last second. Seeing Enlightener before the whole Nice/Lin Ling debacle is so crazy. On the previous arc we never got to see him truly be himself as a hero, without any of the insecurity that failing brought him, or the influence of fear touching him; so seeing him as purely a good guy who is trying to be a hero in his own unique way was a lot of fun. XQ is so real for telling YC that she won't just be there forever waiting for him to garner the courage to ask her out. I appreciate that she has that selfrespect, and the bravery to say it to his face. The way the people just latch at YC as E-Soul is so interesting. Of course, there's the idea that a younger generation just connects more with a hero who is more in tune with their own interests, but I think the fact that he reveals his identity to everyone while original E-Soul does not is a very interesting factor. People, generally speaking, will trust someone that they see, know, and understand more than an unkown, and original E-Sould has become an unkonw by never showing what's under the mask; people have to wonder about it, and I'm sure there are tons of conspiracy theories over it.

I agree with TruKk about the drinking part. The drinking age in China is 18 (as in most countries) .. so he is most definitely old enough to drink 😁

Yes, the comparison and contrast with Lin Ling and Yang Cheng has been so fun to talk about! And dang…poor Shang Chao! You know what, with a love triangle, I’m usually inclined to support a threesome! XD And wowwwwwww, yeah, he does have a lot in common with Ivan, DOESN’T HE?! *cries* I’m glad you and BeHappy noted that about the drinking age – it was mainly a joke (since I don’t know the drinking age in China) but good to learn that! Thanks for the comment!

The end of this episode was BONKERSSSS! I was sure SC was sketchy but he slowly started to reel me over and then dang… I loved seeing Enlightener in his element! This was so much fun and makes me want to watch a whole series before his villain origin story! I love that XQ takes it upon herself to tell him that he needs to step up! I think it’s so interesting to see YC getting this attention as E-Soul. And yeah, I think that it’s the fact that not only is his identity revealed, but that he’s actually there in front of the people for the meet and greets and not behind a podium for a toy release. You bring up a great point about him vs. the OG E-Soul! Thank you for the comment!
